IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2022-07-14 22:01:00

Welcome to the Impact Wrestling on AXS TV report!

We kick off the show with highlights of everything that got us to this point in Impact storylines.

Impact Wrestling Champion Josh Alexander & Motor City Machine Guns vs. Violent By Design

Before the match, Deaner is backstage with Joe Doering, noting they haven’t heard from Eric Young all week and will have to fight alone.

Just as the match begins, Eric Young comes out and comes to ringside.   Alexander has Deaner at a disadvantage early, so Doering pulls his partner to the ropes to break up an anklelock.  Young drilled Alexander when he wasn’t looking, setting up VBD tagging in and out, controlling the champion.  Doering nailed his charging high cross bodyblock for a two count.  After a commercial, Sabin and Deaner battled back and forth.  The Machineguns hit all their signature tag team maneyevers.

It came down to Alexander and Young, who battled back and forth.  Doering was knocked to the floor when he tried to get involved.  The Guns and Alexander took control on Deaner and Young, forcing them to tap simultaneously.

Your winners, The Motor City Machineguns & Josh Alexander!

The Guns gave Alexander the Impact Championship but it was obvious from the way they acted that they each had gold on their mind.

They aired a second vignette for the soon to be debuting Portugese star Killer Kelly.

Steve Maclin vs. James Storm

Maclin tried to play games, which only stoked the ire of James Storm and they started throwing punches.  Maclin gained control and scored a two count after an over the knee backbreaker.  Storm fired back but was caught in the tree of woe and speared while upside down.  He finally made the comeback and went for the Whirlybird but Macklin escaped the attempt.  Storm was sent into a corner that had been exposed and was caught with a DDT coming out for the pin.  Good, solid stuff.

Your winner, Steve Maclin!

The lights went out and when they returned, it was Sami Callihan center ring brandishing a barbed wire bat.  Maclin had escaped the ring when the lights went out so Callihan had no one to beat on.

They plugged the Ric Flair’s Last Match PPV.

Backstage, the Motor City Machineguns approached Scott D’Amore.  Sabin pitched that he wanted a shot at the Impact title.  He certainly deserves it given his work over the last year.  Scott said that he knows they are both hungry for a shot so next week, they face each other and the winner challenges Alexander at the Emergence PPV.  They were both excited at that prospect.

Chelsea Green vs. Mickie James with their respective partners banned.

They went nose to nose and started battling.  The crowd was all over Green as she controlled James.  Green scored several two counts after a kick and throwing her hard into the buckles.    They battled on the floor, up the aisle and back into the ring.  James nailed a Thesz Press for a two count and drilled Chelsea with the Mick Kick to the head.  Green rolled up Mickie and scored the pin, using the ropes for leverage.

Your winner, Chelsea Green!

Rosemary and Taka Valkyrie entered the Undead Real looking for Havok.  Taya was told to stick with Rosemary but ended up seeing a huge glowing white light and entered the portal, bringing her to a new area where she found Havok.  Rosemary finally found her and Taya was all excited and asked if she had met “Jessica.”  We were left with a smiling Havok as a cliffhanger.  The countdown to the return of Wrestlehouse begins!

Bhupinder Gujjar approached Brian Myers and said that he was told that by beating Johnny Swinger on BTI, he had earned a shot at the Digital Media title.  Geez, that means EVERYONE on the roster has a shot coming to them.  Myers sidetracked the title shot, talking his way out of it.

Masha Slamovich vs. Tenille Dashwood (with Gisele Shaw & Madison Rayne)

Masha ran through Tenille like Goldberg going through Gillberg, hittin the Snowplow for the pin.  Nice way to keep making Masha.

Your winner, Masha Slamovich!

Impact Wrestling X-Division Champion Speedball Mike Bailey was being interviewed when Deaner demanded a shot next week.  Bailey agreed.

A despondent Mickie James was caught walking out of the building, saying she was only as good as her last match and she was going home.

Honor No More vs. Bullet Club

Heath Miller attacked Vincent before the match, taking him out.

Eddie Edwards and Chris Bey started and went back and forth.  Ace Austin and Matt Taven soon tagged in and everyone started brawling with Bullet Club clearing the ring.   There was a lot of a spotlight on Chris Bey here and he looked really damn good in the ring.  Kenny King tagged in and controlled Bey for a long time as Honor No More tagged in and out.

Karl Anderson finally made the hot tag and cleaned house on Matt Taven.  The Good Brothers went for a Magic Killer but it was broken up.  Gallows was hit with a low blow and Taven nailed a big splash off the top for the pin.

Your winners, Honor No More!

One would think this would set up OGK vs. The Good Brothers at Emergence.
