World Series Wrestling: Phoenix Rising Day 2 on FITE.TV Recap 

- Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green make their way to the ring to start the show, Cardona talks about how Green got screwed out of the WSW Women’s Title at yesterday’s event. Cardona also says his injury screwed him out of the WSW World Championship, Green says it is Tenille Dashwood and Taya Valkyrie’s fault that she isn’t champion right now. Green mocks Shazza McKenzie while Cardona says they aren’t leaving Australia until both are champions.

Alex Zayne vs. Emman The Kid vs. Trey Miguel

The match begins with a three way lock up between the competitors, Kid rolls up Miguel as Zayne gets tossed across the ring. Miguel and Kid exchange roll ups for some near falls, Miguel and Zayne nail Kid with a double super kick. Zayne drops Miguel with a shoulder block, Zayne trips up Miguel next before landing a spinning senton. Kid returns and he drops Zayne with a rana, Miguel gets to the ring apron before attacking Kid’s arm and then nailing him with a basement drop kick. Miguel follows up by hitting Zayne with a suicide dive and Kid follows with one of his own, Kid gets Zayne back in the ring and he misses a charge in the corner. Zayne hip tosses a charging Kid into Miguel before landing a cannonball on both of them, Zayne clears the ring before taking both competitors out with a suicide dive. Zayne follows up to hit Miguel with a rana on the arena floor, Miguel recovers and he hits Zayne with a tornado DDT on the arena floor. Miguel gets Kid back in the ring and he corners him while landing strikes, Kid fights back and he gets to the middle rope.

Zayne looks for a DDT on Miguel afterwards and Kid nails Zayne with a blockbuster for a near fall, Kid gets Miguel seated on the top rope and he follows him up there. Miguel knocks Kid to the arena floor and Zayne meets him on the ropes, Zayne drops Miguel with a rana and Miguel rolls into a sharp shooter. Kid returns and Miguel takes him out before applying a Muta Lock to Zayne, Kid breaks up the submission after hitting Miguel with a twisting splash. Kid attacks both opponents with some strikes, Kid then hits Zayne with a tornado DDT while also kicking Miguel in the head for a near fall. Kid misses a charge at Zayne and Zayne attacks both foes with strikes, Zayne nails Kid with a release German suplex and Kid lands on a downed Miguel. Zayne then hits Kid with a knee strike before dropping him on Miguel again for a near fall, Zayne and Miguel battle on the ropes before Zayne gets knocked off the ropes. Kid and Zayne both eat super kicks and a 619 from Miguel after Miguel got off the ropes, Miguel nails Kid with a top rope meteora for a three count.

Winner: Trey Miguel

Flip Gordon vs. Alexander Hammerstone

The match begins with Gordon avoiding the lockup with Hammerstone, Hammerstone escaping a waist lock to get Gordon in a headlock. Gordon gets free and he attacks Hammerstone with a few chops followed by a headbutt, Gordon then hits Hammerstone with a side kick to the midsection. Gordon looks for a tornado DDT and Hammerstone blocks it from happening, Hammerstone then crushes Gordon with a lariat. Hammerstone traps Gordon in the corner while landing some chops of his own, Gordon fights back and Hammerstone nails him with a fallaway slam. Hammerstone then sends Gordon out of the ring and he follows him out there, Hammerstone nails Gordon with a chop before landing a suplex on the arena floor. Hammerstone gets Gordon back in the ring to get a near fall on a pin attempt, Hammerstone keeps Gordon down while holding him in a chin lock. Gordon gets free and Hammerstone tosses him into the corner, Gordon fights back against a charging Hammerstone before landing a springboard drop kick.

Gordon then hits Hammerstone with a running European uppercut, Gordon then hits Hammerstone with multiple super kicks and a death valley driver for a near fall. Gordon knocks Hammerstone out of the ring before landing a super kick from the ring apron, Gordon then takes out Hammerstone with a moonsault that sends both crashing to the arena floor. Gordon gets Hammerstone back in the ring before going to the ropes, Hammerstone meets Gordon and he nails him with a series of strikes. Hammerstone looks for a superplex and Gordon fights back before getting off the ropes, Gordon then hits Hammerstone with a power bomb for a near fall. Hammerstone recovers to hit Gordon with a pump kick followed by a release German suplex, Gordon fights back and he nails Hammerstone with a super kick. Hammerstone blocks another kick to hit Gordon with a spinning bulldog for a near fall, Hammerstone goes for a Nightmare Pendulum and Gordon avoids it before sending Hammerstone to the outside of the ring.

Gordon follows up by nailing Hammerstone with a suicide dive, Hammerstone recovers and he nails Gordon with a power bomb on the ring apron. Hammerstone gets Gordon back in the ring before going to the top rope, Gordon meets Hammerstone on the ropes and he gets him down with a one man Spanish fly for a near fall. Gordon misses a 450 splash and Hammerstone nails him with a uranage, Hammerstone then hits Gordon with a Nightmare Pendulum for a three count.

Winner: Alexander Hammerstone

Shazza McKenzie vs. Chelsea Green w/Matt Cardona

The match begins with McKenzie backing Green into the corner before breaking away a short time later, Green then backs McKenzie into the corner and McKenzie nails her with a chop. Green misses a few strike attempts before eating a chop from McKenzie that knocks her out of the ring, Green gets back in the ring and McKenzie rolls her up a few times for a few near falls. Green eats a knee strike before getting tripped up by McKenzie, McKenzie leaves the ring to hit Green with a knee strike to the face. Cardona interferes and that allows Green to knock her to the arena floor, Green then hits McKenzie with a baseball slide drop kick. Green drags McKenzie around the ring while smashing her face on the mat, McKenzie tries fighting back and Green nails her with strikes. Green gets McKenzie back in the ring to get a near fall on a pin attempt, Green keeps McKenzie down while applying a chin lock to her. Cardona interferes again and that allows Green to drop McKenzie before landing a basement drop kick, Green follows up with a clothesline on Green for another near fall.

Green also connects with a snap suplex on McKenzie for some more near falls, Cardona interferes and he chokes McKenzie on the bottom rope. Green holds McKenzie down while landing elbow strikes, Green then hits McKenzie with a curb stomp into the bottom turnbuckle for a near fall. Green follows up by dropping McKenzie with multiple hard Irish whips, McKenzie fights back and she hits Green with a rana. McKenzie and Green simultaneously drop each other with clotheslines, McKenzie and Green have a striking exchange in the middle of the ring. McKenzie gets to the ring apron before trapping Green in the ropes and landing multiple kicks, McKenzie then hits Green with a top rope high cross body for a near fall. McKenzie looks for her finisher and Green gets free before eating a back drop driver, McKenzie misses a face wash and Green tries pinning her with her hands on the ropes. McKenzie hits Green with a stunner and Cardone prevents the three count from happening, Green catches McKenzie in a roll up while using the tights for a three count.

Winner: Chelsea Green w/Matt Cardona

Brian Cage vs. Buddy Matthews

The match begins with Matthews hitting Cage with a shotgun drop kick, Matthews then sends Cage out of the ring before landing a penalty kick from the ring apron. Cage blocks the second kick attempt to get Matthews off the ring apron, Cage then propels Matthews onto the top of the guardrail and he meets him up there for a short time. Matthews leaps off the rail and Cage catches him before power bombing him into the ring post, the referee says Matthews is injured and the staff comes to check on him. Matthews shoves the officials away and he gets back in the ring to continue the match, Matthews then attacks Cage with some strikes. Cage recovers and he nails Matthews with a back breaker for a near fall, Cage traps Matthews in the corner while landing some strikes. Cage then hits Matthews with a delayed vertical suplex for a near fall. Cage looks for a superplex and Matthews fights back to prevent it, Matthews leaps off the ropes and Cage catches him. Matthews gets free and Cage nails him with a few strikes to the back, Cage mounts a downed Matthews before landing crossface strikes.

Matthews fights back again and he exchanges strikes with Cage, Matthews catches a leaping Cage and he nails him with a death valley driver. Cage recovers and he nails Matthews with a few more strikes, Matthews recovers and he drops Cage with a missile drop kick. Matthews cracks Cage with some more strikes, Matthews nails Cage with an enziguri from the ring apron before landing a top rope meteora for a near fall. Matthews goes for Murphy’s Law and Cage blocks it before landing shoulder thrusts, Matthews gets to the ring apron and Cage kicks him in the head before suplexing him back into the ring for a near fall. Cage climbs the ropes and Matthews stops him, Cage fights back and he gets off the ropes before landing strikes on a cornered Matthews. Cage then hits Matthews with a back drop driver followed by an F-5 for a near fall, Cage goes for another F-5 and Matthews counters before both competitors almost hit the red. 

Cage winds up knocking Matthews into the referee before eating a curb stomp from Matthews, Matthews checks on the ref before giving Cage more curb stomps. Matthews leaves the ring and he returns with a steel chair, Matthews places the chair under Cage before missing a curb stomp. Cage then hits Matthews with an F-5 on the chair for a near fall, Cage misses a moonsault and Matthews nails him with a curb stomp. Matthews goes for a Murphy’s Law before Cage blocks it, Matthews and Cage have a striking exchange before Matthews hits Cage with Murphy’s Law for a three count.

Winner: Buddy Matthews

No DQ Match: Joey Janela vs. Caveman Ugg

The match begins with Ugg shoving Janela across the ring a few times, Janela gets Ugg in a headlock and Ugg quickly gets free. Janela goes for shoulder tackles and Ugg remains on his feet, Ugg kicks Janela in the midsection before sending him into the ring apron. Janela gets back in the ring and Ugg quickly runs him over, Ugg grabs Janela and he tosses him across the ring. Ugg nails Janela with a chop before tossing him across the ring again, Janela fights back and he nails Ugg with some more chops. Ugg recovers and Janela boots him right in the face, Ugg catches a leaping Janela and he nails him with an overhead slam for a near fall. Ugg leaves the ring and he throws a few weapons into the ring, Janela grabs a piece of a steel chair and he throws it at Ugg. Janela leaves the ring before hitting Ugg with a steel chair, Janela sends Ugg into the barricade before leaping off a chair and nailing him with a knee strike. Ugg recovers and he nails Janela with a chair shot to the midsection, Ugg gets Janela back in the ring and he looks to slam him onto a chair.

Janela gets free and he hits a charging Ugg with a drop toe hold onto a chair, Ugg catches a charging Janela and he drops him face first on the top turnbuckle for a near fall. Ugg gets Janela on the top rope before setting some chairs up in the ring, Ugg climbs the ropes and Janela fights back against him. Janela nails Ugg with a sunset bomb onto the chairs, Janela attacks Ugg with some clotheslines and Ugg stays on his feet. Janela finally manages to drop Ugg on the fourth clothesline attempt, Janela knocks Ugg onto a chair while landing some strikes. Janela grabs a steel chair and he throws it at the head of Ugg, Janela sits Ugg on another chair while landing some strikes. Ugg gets up and he nails Janela with a monkey flip onto a chair for a near fall, Ugg leaves the ring and he returns with a door that he sets up in the corner. Janela avoids getting thrown through the door before hitting Ugg with a death valley driver through the door for a near fall, Janela places some broken door pieces onto Ugg before landing a top rope double stomp for a near fall. 

Janela then hits Ugg with a steel chair and a piece of the broken door, Ugg gets angry and he nails Janela with a power bomb for a near fall. Ugg leaves the ring and he sets up a door on some chairs that are on the arena floor, Ugg also grabs a ladder and he gets it in the ring before attacking Janela. Ugg looks for a power bomb and Janela gets free before knocking him out of the ring with a chair shot, Janela leaves the ring and he returns with an even bigger ladder that he sets up on the arena floor. Janela gets Ugg on the previously set up door before leaping off the ladder onto Ugg, Janela gets Ugg back in the ring to get a near fall on a pin attempt. Janela leaves the ring and he returns with a bag, Ugg gets up and he hits Janela with an Ugg Bomb for a near fall. Ugg misses a moonsault and Janela dumps thumbtacks all over the ring, Janela tricks Ugg and he makes Ugg run barefooted onto the tacks. Janela then nails Ugg with multiple super kicks for a three count.

Winner: Joey Janela

WSW Women’s Championship: Taya Valkyrie (c) vs. Tenille Dashwood

The match begins with Dashwood doing some work on the arm of Valkyrie, Valkyrie gets free and she does the same to Dashwood. Valkyrie backs Dashwood into the ropes while landing some chops, Valkyrie and Dashwood exchange a few elbow strikes until Dashwood drops her with a headscissors takedown. Valkyrie gets trapped in the ropes and Dashwood nails her with a neck breaker for a near fall, Valkyrie sends a charging Dashwood into the corner before stomping away on her. Valkyrie follows up by dropping Dashwood with a hard Irish whip into the corner.

The feed is back on and when it returns, we see Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green in the ring going after Taya Valkyrie. Cardona accidentally hits Green with his cast before getting taken out by Valkyrie and Dashwood, Dashwood catches Valkyrie in a roll up for a near fall. Dashwood then hits Valkyrie with a Spotlight Kick and Green gets the ref out of the ring to prevent a three count, Valkyrie and Dashwood exchange small packages for some near falls. Valkyrie then hits Dashwood with a Road To Valhalla for a three count.

Winner: Taya Valkyrie, still your WSW Women’s Champion

After the match, Chelsea Green attacks Taya Valkyrie with Matt Cardona’s cast.

WSW World Championship: Johnny Downunder (c) vs. Slex

The match begins with Slex backing Downunder into the corner while trying to remove his sunglasses, Downunder then backs Slex into the corner while failing to remove his sunglasses. Downunder and Slex confront a fan who is calling their match “boring,” Slex gets Downunder in a headlock takedown and Slex gets free of Downunder’s headscissors attempt. Slex gets Downunder in another headlock before dropping him with a shoulder tackle, Downunder and Slex take turns working over each other’s arms. Downunder and Slex knock their sunglasses off of their faces after simultaneously landing big boots, they grab each other’s sunglasses and they put them on. Downunder then tosses Slex’s glasses into the crowd and Slex rolls him up for a near fall, Slex knocks Downunder out of the ring before landing a suicide dive. Downunder slides under the barricade before crocheting Slex on the barricade, Downunder gets back to the ringside area while attacking Slex with kicks. Downunder gets Slex back in the ring to get a near fall on a pin attempt, Downunder then holds Slex down with a chin lock.

Slex gets free and he drops Downunder with a back elbow strike, Slex traps Downunder in the corner while landing a few strikes. Downunder fights back and he nails a cornered Slex with strikes of his own, Slex lands a few more shots before Downunder nails him with a rolling fallaway slam for a near fall. Downunder goes for a rolling neck breaker and Slex counters with a springboard enziguri, Slex then hits Downunder with a Rock Bomb for a near fall. Downunder fights back and he drops Slex before landing a knee strike, Downunder then hits Slex with an enziguri from the ring apron. Slex propels Downunder back into the ring before landing a DDT for a near fall, Slex goes to the top rope and Downunder rolls to the ring apron. Downunder nails Slex with a head kick before dragging him under the ropes to land a head kick, Downunder drags Slex out of the ring before dropping him on the barricade. 

Slex drags Downunder out of the ring and Downunder nails him with a super kick, Downunder accidentally kicks the ring post before Slex nails him with a tornado DDT on the arena floor. Slex gets Downunder back in the ring before landing a top rope moonsault for a near fall, Slex gets Downunder on the top rope before meeting him up there. Slex gets Downunder down after landing a Slex Plex and he follows up with a falcon arrow for a near fall, Downunder fights back and he nails Slex with a head kick followed by Moonlight Drive. Downunder then hits Slex with Starship Pain for a three count.

Winner: Johnny Downunder, still the WSW World Champion

After the match, Slex shoves Johnny Downunder down before spitting on him.
