7/5/22 Results from New Japan Road from Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan:
Kosei Fujita and Ryohei Oiwa vs. Ryusuke Taguchi and Master Wato
Wato pins Fujita with Recientemente.
Wato and Taguchi are more than likely sticking together as a tag team to challenge United Empire for the IWGP Jr. Tag Titles.
Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Satoshi Kojima (GHC Heavyweight Champion) vs. Togi Makabe and Tomoaki Honma
Honma misses a Kokeshi and Kojima follows with a big lariat.
Kojima pins Honma.
Yuji Nagata, Clark Conners and The DKC vs. Alex Zayne, Tomohiro Ishii and Kazuchika Okada
DKC attacked Ishii. Ishii took him to the floor and bounced him off the rails. Okada tagged in. DKC threw several elbows and chops. Okada no sold the elbows. They beat down DKC until DKC hit a drop kick on Okada. Nagata tags in. Zayne tags in. Nagata with an Exploder on Zayne. Conners tags in. Zayne avoids a spear and tags in Ishii. Conners hits a power slam on Ishii and tags in DKC. DKC hammers Ishii with chops. Ishii throws elbows and goes for a powerbomb. Nagata kicks Ishii in the face. DKC with a running elbow on Ishii. Nagata follows with a running boot. DKC hits a drop kick from the top rope. Ishii kicks out at two. Okada and Ishii try to double team DKC but Conners comes in to even it up. DKC hits a flying chop to Ishii’s head. Two count. Ishii with a German suplex. Two count. Japanese announcers are chanting “DKC”. DKC grabs Ishii in a crucifix pin. Two count. DKC hits a spin kick. Ishii hits a lariat and follows with a brainbuster.
Ishii pins DKC.
Wow, what a “final exam” for DKC. He had ring time with Ishii and Okada who could give great feedback to LA Dojo and New Japan management. It seems they see DKC as a star in both New Japan and New Japan Strong. He should be someone to watch in the near future.
KUSHIDA, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Jado vs. Taiji Ishimori, KENTA and Gedo
Tanahashi traps Gedo in Texas Cloverhold. Gedo taps out.
BUSHI, Hiromu Takahashi, SANADA, Shingo Takagi and Tetsuya Naito vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru, TAKA Michinoku, El Desperado, Taichi and Minoru Suzuki
Hiromu applied a triangle choke, also known as “D” on TAKA. TAKA taps out.
Kazuchika Okada comes to ringside for commentary.
Dog Cage Match: Toru Yano vs Dick Togo
Togo pulls out his choke wire, but Yano takes it away. Yano is about to use the wire, but the lights go out. When they come back on Togo is choking out Yano. House of Torture come out and they try to lock Yano in the Dog Cage. YOH, YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto come to the ring to stop them. Yano is able to throw Togo into the Cage.
Yano wins.
The main event begins immediately. Yano stays at ringside and Togo is still locked in the cage.
NEVER Openweight 6-man Tag Team Championship: YOH, YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto vs. SHO, Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL
YOH and SHO battle in the ring. CHAOS has the advantage and House of Torture looks rattled. EVIL hits YOH in the back with a chair and momentum switches. Yano goes after EVIL but EVIL throws him into the ring post. House of Torture beat down YOH. Goto is able to tag in. But they triple team Goto. Everyone hits the ring. Complete chaos. Yujiro steals the key from Yano and unlocks Togo from the cage. Togo goes after Yano.
In the ring, EVIL hits Darkness Falls on Goto. Two count. Everyone hits the ring. Goto hits an ushigaroshi on EVIL. SHO and YOH tag in. YOH with a neck breaker and a Falcon Arrow. Two count. SHO hits a release German suplex. YOH comes back with a lariat. YOH with a Dragon suplex on SHO. EVIL breaks the count. Goto and YOSHI-HASHI toss EVIL to the floor. YOH hits a super kick on SHO. The referee counts two and is pulled from the ring by Togo. Yano fights with Togo on the floor. Yujiro hits YOH with his Pimp Stick. House of Torture throws Yano, Goto and YOSHI-HASHI in the Dog Cage. Togo goes to lock it.
Yujiro hits YOH with Pimp Juice. EVIL and Togo hit a Magic Killer on YOH. Yujiro pushes the referee in the ring. Yano gets the cage open and Goto and YOSHI-HASHI rush the ring. They attack EVIL and Yujiro. Yano throws Togo into the cage. EVIL and Yujiro are thrown into the cage. Yano locks it.
SHO goes for his wrench but YOSHI-HASHI stops him. They hit a GYW on SHO. They hit a double super kick on SHO then an ushigaroshi. YOH picks up SHO and they helped drop SHO on his head with a Direct Driver.
YOH pins SHO.
YOH, Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI win the NEVER Openweight 6-man Championship.
SHO needs help back to the locker room. They leave House of Torture in the cage. Yano teases them with the keys.
YOH addresses the crowd. This is his first non Jr. Division title he has won.
This was an entertaining angle and the belts are now off of House of Torture. With the G1 Climax in two weeks, House of Torture can reboot themselves and get new storylines, as they have been the NEVER division for a year or so. I expect several wrestlers to get new storylines and be involved in new feuds. Hopefully, all wrestlers stay safe and healthy and get ready for a long tournament.
