Following the victory over Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event of Sunday's AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, new AEW World Champion Jon Moxley addressed fans at the United Center in Chicago.
Moxley would refer to professional wrestling as "the best sport, the best f—ing thing in the world" during his passionate statement. His fellow Blackpool Combat Club members Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and William Regal, as well as Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz, joined him for a post-match celebration.
Moxley also referred to Claudio, the most recent AEW signee, as one of the top professional wrestlers in the world. Moxley would also take a lighthearted joke at his previous employer, WWE, near the end of his address.
Moxley described the Jericho Appreciation Society as "filthy, scuzzy sports entertainment." "Perhaps there is a time and a place for sports entertainment, but professional wrestling reigns supreme in AEW!"
Moxley will most certainly bleed profusely again on Wednesday on "Dynamite," when he partners up with Claudio, Yuta, Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz in a "Blood & Guts" match against The Jericho Appreciation Society's Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Jake Hager, Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard, and Angelo Parker. JAS acquired the "man edge" during the Forbidden Door pay-per-view by defeating Shota Umino, Kingston, and Wheeler Yuta in a Trios Match. As previously stated, Bryan Danielson picked a mystery man, later revealed to be Claudio, as his replacement for Blood & Guts on last week's "Dynamite."
Prior to Moxley and Khan's remarks, a battle broke out between JAS and BCC near the end of Forbidden Door. As shown in the video below, Kingston sounded dissatisfied with having to partner up with his former CHIKARA and PWG adversary Claudio, which is an interesting side story to follow. Claudio's WWE departure prompted Kingston to mock the Swiss Superman, claiming that Claudio "doesn't have the balls to come to AEW." Kingston continued to mock Claudio in recent interviews, even bringing up an old tweet following Claudio's AEW debut on Sunday.
This was not the only drama during Sundays live event. During the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view in Chicago on Sunday, a scuffle broke out between two fans. The battle took place during the main event bout for the interim AEW World Championship between Jon Moxley and Hiroshi Tanahashi.
The security team took the two spectators out of their seats and threw them out of the United Center. One of the supporters even attempted to react by punching one of the officers until he was caught and hauled out of the seats.
This was not the only fan-related incident during the AEW x NJPW crossover event on Sunday. Earlier in the evening, a fan was ejected from the arena after being discovered taking close-up shots of Tay Conti's behind. The fan allegedly traversed several blocks to get close to Conti at ringside during the show's opening match, which pitted Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, and Minoru Suzuki against Eddie Kingston, Shota Umino, and Wheeler Yuta. Conti praised the AEW security team for acting quickly.
