MLW sold out the Melrose Ballroom last night in New York City, including some standing room only tickets. They do not currently have a return date but are working on securing one.
Following the show, MLW CEO Court Bauer stated that this summer would be a summer of surprise announcements, but that he wouldn't hype anything in advance and just let them speak for themselves. The first announcement was last night's deal with Boss Fight Studios for an MLW action figure line, which was revealed with a video package during the show. Figures were showcased for Jacob Fatu, Madds Kruger, Alexander Hammerstone and more at 1:12 scale, promising the "full roster" as well as an Azteca Underground wrestling ring with exclusive Cesar Duran and accessory sets that featured a table, steel chair, barbed wire bat, nightstick, guard rails, ring steps, a microphone and more. There should be a press release coming later today with official details.
Mance Warner is back with the promotion despite their past issues. Warner will be in a program with Madds Kruger to start. Bauer stated his return was as simple as a phone call earlier in the week followed by Warner being asked if he was available. He was and they booked a plane ticket.
Homicide was booked the day of the show to be part of the Battle Riot when it became certain The Von Erichs would not be able to make the show due to travel issues.
MLW is filming pre-tapes today in NYC that will be inserted into their TV show around the in-ring footage that was taped last night.
The Richard Holliday vs. Alexander Hammerstone Falls Count Anywhere match went about 22 minutes live last night with entrances but there were several sequences where they fought backstage, so one would think MLW could have taped additional footage to make that bout run even longer for TV. Holliday replaced the injured Bandido.
Parker Bordreaux, formerly Harlan in WWE NXT, will be a regular here. The two sides had spoken following his WWE release but were unable to come to a deal. They returned to the table just several days ago and locked in an agreement.
Court Bauer referenced the postponed 7/16 Chicago date as being due to a "potential media rights deal" last night but would not give further detail.
Dave Marquez was in from California to direct the taping. The legendary Charlie Bruzesse was filming ringside.
Legendary photographer George Napolitano was at the taping, shooting ringside.
Busted Open's Dave LaGreca was visiting at the show as well. Always a pleasure to see Dave.
