Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It

The Odeon

Friday, June 17, 2022

It's the annual rap show, which means there are no rules all night.

Katie Arquette vs Joseline Navarro

These wrestlers are 1-1 in their previous matches in AIW, and their rivalry continued at the Gauntlet for the Gold as they entered 1 and 2. Joseline snuck in from behind and attacked Katie, putting a plastic bag over Arquette's head. Chairs, a trash can lid, a kendo stick, a cookie sheet, and a crutch littered the ring. Arquette kicked out after a powerbomb through chairs. Joseline kicked out after a spear. Joseline dodged a hip attack and connected with a missile dropkick to the corner. Katie Arquette got the pinfall after a superplex onto chairs.

Big Twan Tucker vs Jackson Stone vs Kaplan vs Filthy Tom Lawlor

Kaplan came to the ring with a tiki torch and a leaf blower. Those might be firsts for me. Stone and Lawlor pair off, and Kaplan and Twan pair off, and it's a brawl. Stone, Twan, and Kaplan began throwing weapons into the cage, and Lawlor tried his best to empty the ring of those weapons. After a couple doors got thrown in, Lawlor decided it best to evacuate. Avanlanches and clotheslines a-plenty. Kaplan pinned Lawlor after a split-legged moonsault.

Kaplan grabbed the mic and called out Tim Donst for Absolution. Lawlor will be heading to Japan to participate in New Japan's G1.

Dom Garrini vs Casey Carrington IV

Carrington tried to hide to sneak attack Dom, but Dom felt him coming and side-stepped him. Dom had a spike hidden in his kickpads, and Carrington got bloody. Carrington set a door in the corner. Reversals and Garrini connected with a German suplex through the door. Brian Carson and Jackson Stone came out and attacked Garrini, allowing Carrington to get the tainted pinfall.

A camera got disconnected, so we are stalling.

Eric Taylor vs Wes Barkley

The Duke took forever to leave the ring and decided to post up on the apron like a tag partner, instead of on the floor like the manager he is. Barkley knocked The Duke off the apron, and got the advantage. The Duke came in and hit Barkley with the Golden Boot, and Barkley was busted open. Duke set a door up at ringside bridging the apron and guardrail, as Taylor continued his advantage. Duke tried to put Barkley through the door with a Duke Driver, but the Franchise Shane Douglas came out and…

My feed went out.

We're back and Eric Taylor and Wes Barkley brawled through the crowd. Duke and The Franchise are brawling too, so I guess we're in a tag team match. Taylor and Barkley returned to the ring. Taylor produced thumbtacks, tossing a few in Barkley's outh. Duke tripped Barkley, and Taylor went after Douglas. Duke hit a spinebuster on Barkley onto the tacks.  Barkley fought back, hitting a crossbody, sending Duke into the tacks. Barkley set Duke up on a bridged door (which was already a little broken) and splashed him to the floor. Franchise hit Taylor with a belly to belly. Franchise put some more tacks on the open chair. Barkley hit the Stroke on Taylor on the chair and tacks for the win.

Franchise grabbed the mic, endorsed Wes Barkley, gave the finger to sports entertainment, and thanked the Cleveland fans.

Shane Douglas was a last-minute meet and greet replacement for Kevin Sullivan, whose flight  was cancelled.

We are now at intermission.

Number One Contenders Match: The Boys from Jollyville (Nasty Russ and T Money) vs TME (Duke Davis and Gannon Jones Jr) vs Bulking Season (Arthur McArthur and Chuck Stone)  vs Members Only (Calvin G. Lewis and Malcolm Cambridge)

They all fought to the store, until Chuck Stone and T Money returned to the ring trying to shoulder tackle each other. Duke Davis drop-kicked both of them. All the teams tried to use the tornado rules to their advantage. Pounce and a cannonball from the Boys from Jollyville. One of Members Only tried to steal a pin. Members Only put a door in the corner, but McArthur slammed one of Members Only into the other one into the door. Chuck Stone went coast to coast and pinned Lewis. Bulking Season will take on PME at Absolution.

Philly Collins came to the stage, and Marino Tenaglia attacked from behind. Tenaglia handcuffed Stone to the turnbuckle as Collins grabbed the mic. Collins said Bulking Season still deserve to be on the preshow and not the main event, then Collins locked McArthur in a Camel Clutch. PME then slammed McArthur's throat with a chair.

It took a moment to get Chuck Stone freed from the handcuffs before we get to the next contest.

Manders vs Isaiah Broner

They traded chops, shoulder tackles, and Mongolian chops. Manders' chest got real red real fast. Commentary mentioned that Manders was the one who eliminated Broney from the Gauntlet. Then, they traded open hand strikes until it turned to a slapfight. Both hit suplexes and collapse. They got to their knees, and both hit a couple JYD headbutts. Manders went for a bionic elbow, but Broner just punched his way out of it. A Stampede from Manders got two. The uppercut and FS from Broner got a two for him. Manders blocked the lariat and hit one of his own. A frustrated Manders grabbed a chair. Broner ducked the chair, punched through it, and hit the lariat for the pinfall.

Pretty Boy Smooth came out and attacked Broner. Smooth called out Broner the same way Broner called out Minoru Suzuki and Eddie Kingston in the past. Broner refused help to the back.

Mikey Montgomery vs Uncle Chase Burnett vs Jack Evans vs M-Dogg Matt Cross vs Bandido vs Derek Dillinger

Derek Dillinger replaced the injured Chase Oliver. Jack Evans looks in better shape than ever. Tons of lucha and fast-paced action until Dillinger introduced some weapons: a trash can lid, a door, ladder, and chairs. Bandido hit Uncle Chase with his flipping suplex onto an open chair. Derek Dillinger threw Jack Evans onto Bandido on the floor. Montgomery sent Dillinger into the ladder with a drop toe hold. Montgomery ran up the ladder, Shelton Benjamin-y, and splashed everyone on the floor. Jack Evans moonsaulted from the balcony onto Montgomery and Dillinger. Evans threw Montgomery into the ring, but Dillinger chokeslammed Evans through the door to the floor. Dillinger hit the Director's Chair through the door in the ring to get the pinfall on Montgomery. Nathan Zegura said we're entering the summer of Dillinger.

Pick Your Poison: Josh Bishop vs Matt Cardona's Pick

The event was supposed to be Pick Your Poison matches for both Bishop and Cardona, but Cardona's injury cancelled his match. Steve Guy announced Matt Cardona has picked two wrestlers to face Bishop in a triple threat.

Josh Bishop vs Matt Justice (w/ Bill Alfonso) vs Joey Janela

The Bad Boy is back! All three went straight to the floor and brawled around. Bishop would alternate hitting Justice and Janela, then Justice and Janela would alternate hitting Bishop. It's insanity. Bishop's bleeding. They finally get back to the ring and fight using a guardrail and doors. Justice splashed onto Bishop and Janela under the guardrail. Janela started building a mountain of chairs on the left side of the ring. Bishop picked Janela up for the Samoan drop, but Justice speared them onto the chair mountain. Bishop clutched at his ankle as Justice grabbed a giant ladder from downstage. Bishop stopped Justice from climbing the ladder and bridged a guardrail on the ring apron. Bishop tried for a Bishop bomb on Justice, but Janela hit him with a chair. Janela and Justice hit a double power bomb on Bishop into the guardrail bridge. Justice hit a DVD on Janela into a chair before Air Justice on Bishop.  Janela pulled Bishop in the ring and put him on a door. Janela climbed up the ladder and hit the elbow drop. Fonzie hit Janela with a chair. Janela and Justice focused on each other allowing Bishop a chance to recover. Bishop bomb on Justice onto Janela for only a two count. Justice started bleeding. Too many chair shots. A Bishop Bomb onto a chair finally put Justice down for the win.

Derek Dillinger attacked Josh Bishop in the entrance with a clapboard wrapped in barbed wire.

Janela took the mic and said that Justice has no clue where he is (not good) and that he hated that Dillinger came out and "spoiled the fun." He said hopefully Cleveland remembers this match for a while.
