FULL AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

By Anthony Pires on 2022-06-15 20:27:00

It's Wednesday Night! And that means 3 things: There have absolutely no interesting stories in wrestling this week, I will spell "O'Reilly" and "Ospreay" correctly, and AEW Dynamite is live and on the air. Jim Ross, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone have the call of tonight's action.

As an aside for those may not know: Hiroshi Tanahashi pinned Hirooki Goto on Sunday. Tanahashi will face Jon Moxley for the Interim AEW Title at Forbidden Door.

Hair vs. Hair: Chris Jericho vs. Ortiz

Jericho is accompanied by the Jericho Appreciation Society.  Ortiz is alone. Ortiz charges the ring and we've got a slugfest. Lionsault by Jericho. Takedown by Ortiz for 2. Jericho rolls out and they battle on the floor. Jericho gets bitten after he gets thrown into the rail.  10 count of punches by Ortiz.

Eddie Kingston has come down to second Ortiz. In the ring, Ortiz with a dropkick for 2.  Jericho with kicks in the corner, followed by a chop and a set up on the top rope.  Ortiz blocks the hurancanrana and drops him.  Dead drop by Ortiz for 2.  Jericho rolls out and punches Ortiz as he tried a tope suicida.  Suplex on the floor by Jericho as we go to commercial.

We're back in St. Louis and Jericho poses to the crowd. Jericho slaps Ortiz and Ortiz fights back, both men are down.  They trade chops and Ortiz fires away in the corner.  Cutter out of the corner by Ortiz for 2. Jericho blocks a suplex, he tries for the walls but Ortiz rolls him up for 2.  DDT for 2 by Ortiz. Ortiz misses a corkscrew.  Codebreaker by Jericho for 2.  Backslide for 2 by Ortiz. Jericho applies the Walls after blocking a rana. Ortiz makes the ropes. The JAS attacks Kingston.  Wheeler Yuta comes out to help.  While the referee is distracted,Kingston nails a backfist. Ortiz scores a 2.  All of a sudden, Fuego Del Sol runs in and nails Ortiz with Floyd the Bat.  Jericho scores the pin.

WINNER CHRIS JERICHO

Fuego unmasks and it's Sammy Guevara.  3/5th of the Inner Circle are working together.  Ortiz takes the scissors and razor and cuts his own hair.  Ortiz demands Blood and Guts.

We get a preview of Wardlow vs. 20 Plaintiffs.

Wardlow vs. 20 Plaintiffs in a Class Action Handicap Elimination Match

I'm assuming there'll be a lot of powerbombs here.  Mark Sterling is a terrible lawyer.  Apparently, if the plaintiffs leave the ring they are eliminated.  Maybe not.  OK I think the ring announcer made a mistake.  Here comes the powerbombs.

By the way Dasha Gonzalez is our ring announcer tonight.  So far 9 plaintiffs are eliminated.  More powerbombs lead to the 13th Plaintiff eliminated.  More powerbombs.  He eliminates all 20 and, per the stipulation, the lawsuit is dismissed.

WINNER WARDLOW

Dan Lambert and Scorpio Sky warn Wardlow that people are coming.  UFC's Matt Hughes and Tyron Woodley come in the ring.  Wardlow knows they're smarter than to take orders from Lambert.  Woodley throws Sterling into Wardlow.  Wardlow celebrates.

I never ever want to hear that Eddie Guerrero vs. Rey Mysterio in a Ladder Match for custody of Dominik made no sense ever again.

Dax Harwood vs. Will Ospreay

Ospreay is the new IWGP United States Champion, having beaten Sanada Sunday morning for the vacant title.  No surprise, the AEW crowd is up for this! They clearly love them some Ospreay, who connects with an armdrag. Arm twist by Ospreay, Dax reverses it, Ospreay kicks him away. Lockup/headlock by Dax, he connects with a shoulderblock. Dax tries another but Ospreay nails him with a hurancanrana. Chops by Ospreay.  Harwood fires right back. Snap suplex and a legdrop for 1 by Harwood.  Big backdrop by Harwood.  2 count by Dax. Dax with a headlock.  Ospreay breaks it with a jawbreaker.  Forearm by Ospreay, he tries to suplex Dax to the floor and they battle it out on the apron. Ospreay trips him off the apron and nails a running dropkick as we go to commercial.

Back to live action, Harwood with 5 German Suplexes in a row.  Dax to the top rope. Ospreay staggers off. Dax with a 6th German. Dax misses a headbutt off the top. 450 for 2 by Ospreay.  Ospreay to the top again but Harwood with chops sends him down.  Ospreay nails a cross body off a superplex counter for 2. Dax with a deep rollup off of an Ospreay powerbomb.  Harwood rolls out but Ospreay nails a pescado.  Dax gets rolled in. Elbow off the top by Ospreay for 2. Dax blocks an Oscutter and nails a springboard Liger Bomb for 2.  They trade headbutts.  They trade forearms in a game of one uppmanship. Kick by Ospreay, Lariat by Harwood. Liger bomb for 2 by Ospreay.  Ospreay with the Oscutter for 2.  Ospreay with Hidden Blade for the pin.

WINNER WILL OSPREAY

The United Empire comes out and hover over Dax.  Roppongi Vice and Cash Wheeler try to make the save but are outnumbered.  The returning Orange Cassidy strolls out and he and Ospreay, somehow now all alone, go face to face.  Now the rest of CHAOS backs up Cassidy and Ospreay walks off.

Jon Moxley comes out for his big face to face. Hiroshi Tanahashi follows suit and they go face to face.  Moxley reminds him that he's been chasing him for 3 years up and down Japan, New Japan Strong.  Moxley declares himself the greatest living professional wrestler competing today and that Tanahashi will call Moxley "Ace".

Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti come out. Jericho reminds them that we was out last week. The main event should be his.  Jericho implores The JAS to attack. They rush the ring.  Desperado and Lance Archer also join in the attack.  While the beating goes on, Jericho declares Sammy and Tay are offcially in the JAS. Jericho declares a 6 man tag for Forbidden Door.  I hinestly couldn't tell what he was trying to say.  I think it's Jericho, Guevara, Minoru Suzuki against Wheeler Yuta, Shota Umino and eddie Kingston.

reDRagon and Darby Allin with some pre recorded comments ahead of Fish's match with Allin on Rampage.

Tony Schiavone is with Toni Storm.  Storm declares that Baker is too smart to be playing with fire the way the is.

AEW All Atlantic Championship Qualifies: All Ego Ethan Page /Dan Lambert (Canada) vs. Miro (Bulgaria)

Page is stalling big time.  Miro chases him. Leg kicks by Page and a round rouse to the arm.  Page attacks the arm.  Page yanks hard on the left arm and applies a wrist lock.  Miro counters with a clothesline. Miro stomps Page and sends him into the post.  Page rolls out as we go to commercial.

We're back and Miro with a Samoan Drop. Sledgehammer forearms by Miro. Page yanks down on the arm. Action spills to the outside and Miro gets thrown twice into the steps. Diving shoulder tackle by PAge for 1. Cutter by Page for 2.  Page tells Miro to pray to him. Miro with a headbutt and suplex.  Splash and a leg lariat by Miro.  LAmbert to the apron.  He and Page get superkicked.  Camel Clutch and Page taps out.

WINNER MIRO (advances to Fatal 4 way at Forbidden Door)

Dr. Britt Baker DMD w/Rebel and Jamie Hayter vs. Toni Storm

Baker charges but Storm strikes her with forearms. Baker rolls out but Storm follows and Baker sends her into the post. LEg trip by Storm and a big right hand by Storm.  Back in the ring, Storm with a cross body for 2. Shenanigans by Rebel and Hayter bring out Thunder Rosa. She chases Hayter to the back as we go to commercial.

Back to live action, Baker covers and gets a 1 count. Forearms by Baker, she misses a charge and eats a DDT. Storm nails a 2nd DDT on the floor and throws her back in.  Running hip attack looked like it made some real contact.  I hope she's working. Apparently she is and DDT's Baker for 2.  That hip attack looked scary.  Storm counters the lockjaw and hits Storm Zero for the pin.

WINNER TONI STORM

Thunder Rosa comes to the stage and points at Storm

Tony Schiavone is with Stokely Hathaway. Jade Cargill has an open challenge.  Willow Nightingale interrupts and answers the challenge.

Adam Page comes out.  By the way, last week, he challenged Okada for the IWGP Title. Switchblade Jay White won the title from Okada last Sunday. He acknowledges that White is the new champion. He's about to issue his formal challenge as Adam Cole comes out. Cole says he deserves the title shot.  Cole says Okada will not be at Forbidden Door.  Jay White attacks Page from behind and nails Blade Runner.  White mocks Page as he writhes in agony.  White rejects both Page and Cole's challenges.  Jay White says he'll call his own shot at Forbidden Door.
