TOP 5 BEST EUROPEAN PRO WRESTLERS

By Kendall Jenkins on 2022-06-13 10:19:00

Wrestling is a multi-billion dollar industry with a rich history and a devoted following around the world. As a professional wrestler, you must have all the necessary skills for a successful career that people will remember for years to come. Even though professional wrestling is a labor of love, another passion for the sport, achievements such as championship titles won and main event matches won must be taken into consideration when evaluating a wrestler.

  • Andre the Giant

Grenoble, France is where Andre the Giant was born. A person with gigantism, a condition characterized by abnormally rapid growth and height, was responsible for his enormous stature. It was in professional wrestling that Andre would make the most of his predicament. When he entered the ring, Andre the Giant was known as "the eighth wonder of the world," drawing crowds from all over the world who paid top dollar to catch a glimpse of this mega-sized man. It was in 1988 that he defeated Hogan to win the WWF Championship on the first episode of The Main Event, his only world heavyweight championship. Until his untimely death, Roussimoff wrestled primarily for All Japan Pro-Wrestling, usually alongside Giant Baba, as his time in the WWF came to an end following WrestleMania VI in 1990.

  • Sheamus

Sheamus was born in Dublin, Ireland. WWE began paying attention to Sheamus as soon as he made a name for himself on the European wrestling scene. Sheamus has impressive "WWE numbers," having been a two-time WWE Champion, a World Heavyweight Champion, and the United States Champion twice. As a WWE world champion, he is the first Irishman to hold that title, as well as a three-time United States champion and a five-time tag team champion (four Raw, one SmackDown). As a result of these victories, he became the second wrestler (following Edge) to win the 2010 King of the Ring, 2012 Royal Rumble, and 2015 Money in the Bank ladder matches.

  • Finn Balor

Finn Balor, the WWE's first-ever Universal Champion, is a big hit with the crowd. Balor's high-flying skills have earned him a reputation as one of the best aerialists in the game. Additionally, he holds two Intercontinental Championship reigns to his name, making him the first-ever Universal Champion. However, on the main roster, his abilities were underutilized. For the first time since his SummerSlam 2016 injury, Finn Balor was forced to accept a mid-card role. Winning the Intercontinental Championship twice didn't make Balor a fan favorite. The NXT Championship was held by Bálor for 292 days before he was dethroned by Adam Cole on March 19th, 2020, after signing with WWE's developmental system, NXT, and adopting his current ring name. During his time in NXT, Bálor and Samoa Joe were the first co-winners of the inaugural Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

  • Becky Lynch

In less than a year, Becky Lynch has gone from being an underutilized talent to being the show's main attraction. Lynch, the third Irish-born wrestler on this list, has always been a highly regarded performer, even during her time in NXT. Becky Lynch was one of the Four Horsewomen of WWE, alongside Charlotte Flair, Bayley, and Sasha Banks. Combined, they reshaped the WWE women's division. As a result of her victory at Backlash 2016, she became the first SmackDown Women's Champion. During the WrestleMania 35 main event, The Man defeated Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair to win the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships.

  • Cesaro

Cesaro was born in Lucerne, Switzerland, into a family of artists and musicians. His professional wrestling hopes and dreams would keep him afloat until one day he would make it to the United States. Before joining WWE, Cesaro spent a considerable amount of time on the independent circuit. Although Cesaro is an exceptional wrestler, he is now one of WWE's most underutilized talents. Cesaro has the potential to be the best wrestler on the main roster, if not the best. Castagnoli and his partner, Chris Hero, have won the ROH World Tag Team Championship twice, demonstrating their skill as accomplished wrestlers in tag teams. As Cesaro, he won seven WWE tag team championships, including two on SmackDown and five on Raw.

Conclusion

This article has shown that European has produced some of the greatest pro wrestlers known.
