After the National Anthem, Shawn Michaels’ music blares and to the surprise of the crowd, HBK comes out and dances to the ring to a huge pop. Once in the ring, Shawn Michaels welcomes the fans back to the first NXT live event held on the Largo Loop since the beginning of the Pandemic. After thanking the fans for coming out, he danced to the back to his music and the show started.

NXT North American Championship: Carmelo Hayes with Trick Williams (Champion) defeated Nathan Frazer

The first match of the night was very entertaining and it started with a entertaining promo by Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams. At one point, Trick Williams was called a jobber by a fan and he responded with a well timed “your mama” and the crowd had a good laugh. Apparently, Carmelo will hold an open challenge for the North American Championship during each of these shows and tonight the Nathan Frazer answered the challenge. This was a high speed match with many innovative albeit dangerous maneuvers which made for a great match. Frazer hit several impressive moves on Hayes which led a series of suspenseful near falls. Hayes hit a big top rope Diving Famouser on Frazer for the win.

Ivy defeated Lash Legend due to an Alba Fyre distraction.

While both Ivy and Lash looked good at different times in this bout, their inexperience made it a bit clunky with some botches. Wrestling is very hard to do well so I say this with the utmost respect and these ladies seem to just need some more ring time which makes restarting the Largo Loop make a great deal of sense. When Lash Legend attained the upper hand,  Alba Fyre’s music hit and she came with a red bat. Alba Fyre is the new name for Kay Lee Ray and she received a decent reaction from the crowd when she came out.  She did not do anything but stare at Lash Legend but it was enough for Ivy to get the quick pin.

Giovanni Vinci defeated Dante Chen.

Giovanni Vinci is the new name for former Imperium member Fabian Aichner and he faced off with Dante Chen, who is a wrestler from Singapore. Vinci showed his talent in this match and this was an entertaining match. Chen is still learning the WWE style but I believe will be successful due to his ability to sell. Vinci dominated most of this contest and won with a sit-out Last Ride Powerbomb. After the match, Chen was barely able to make it out of the ring and then acted like he collapse from the pain in his back while heading to the back. The referee had to come help him get up and limp to the back. While I do not think he was injured as the medical staff were still in their seats during this, he was very convincing with how he put over Vinci.

Stacks & Two Dimes defeated Legado Del Fantasma (Escobar, Wilde, & Del Toro w/ Tony D’Angelo & Elektra Lopez)

This six man tag team match was driven by the story from the last NXT Premium Live Event where Tony D’Angelo’s team defeated Legado Del Fantasma making the latter faction work for D’Angelo. Tony started the match with a short promo explaining how they worked for him and that he needed them to win this match for some black market mafia stereotype reason he alluded to. I have never heard or seen their opponents, Stacks and Two Dimes, but they were athletic high flyers that were quite impressive with their agility and ability in the ring. This is a entertaining match and Legado Del Fantasma lost to their relatively unknown opponents when Tony gave a crowbar to Joaquin Wilde when the referee was distracted. Wilde started to argue with him about how they did not need that to win which allowed his opponent to sneak up behind him and roll him up for a surprise victory. After the match, Tony and Legado Del Fantasma argued all the way to the back in an intense fashion.

Tiffany Stratton In-Ring Promo

Stratton came out and cut a heated promo that made fun of Tampa for being trashy, Tom Brady for unretiring to play for such an awful town and then she started insulting Wendy Choo. Wendy Choo then came out in her pajamas, chased her out of the ring and then challenged her to a match at NXT Largo on Saturday Night. Stratton’s promo was fantastic and she really did a great job drawing a large negative reaction from the crowd. Choo was in grey.

NXT Tag Team Champions the Creed Brothers defeated Pretty Deadly

This was a very good match that was highly entertaining with the crowd really reacting to what went down. This match was different than their match at the last Premium Live Event but it was still very good with Pretty Deadly drawing a negative reaction from the crowd throughout the match. Pretty Deadly was over the top obnoxious throughout the bout but it worked with many people laughing or booing at their antics. The Creed Brothers won after Brutus Creed hit a sliding lariat to a seated member of Pretty Deadly.

Solo Sikoa defeated Xyon Quinn

This was a hard hitting match between two large Samoans that was fun to watch. The crowd was behind Sikoa and Quinn was able to draw some heat with different heel antics. Quinn held his own against Sikoa throughout their match achieving several near falls before Sikoa won with a Spinning Uranage.

NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Toxic Attraction (Jacy Jayne & Gigi Dolin w/ NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose) defeated Roxanne Perez & Cora Jade

This was an entertaining match even though Mandy Rose was the focus of attention throughout the match due to the crowd trying to heckle her and Rose insulting them in return. Perez and Jade hit some impressive maneuvers but ultimately lost when Rose interfered causing Toxic Attraction to win. After the match, Toxic Attraction started to beat down their defeated opponents until Indi Hartwell ran in for the save causing the heels to retreat. Hartwell then challenged Rose to a NXT Women’s Championship match at NXT Largo on Saturday Night which she accepted.

NXT Champion Bron Breakker defeated Grayson Waller

This main event was not bad but it did not live up to the very high standard that exists on the Largo Loop that was developed before the Pandemic. Both of these grapplers showed why they are considered to have bright futures at times during this bout but several mistakes were made and you could hear them call spots throughout the match. Waller showed his talent and skill when he saved the match several times after Breakker made a mistake. These mistakes made the match clunky but it was still fun to watch. Breakker won with a surprise spear out of nowhere when Waller began to dominate the match for a short time. Despite his inexperience, Breakker was impressive and is a star. After his victory, Breakker cut a promo thanking the crowd for coming out.

Thoughts: I am ecstatic that the Largo Loop has returned despite not being that big of a fan of this version of NXT as these shows are always fun and very cheap for the entertainment you receive in return. For ten dollars, you can see high level professional wrestling up close and personal in small, intimate settings during a time of inflation and uncertainty. These shows are fun for the whole family which showed with a large segment of the crowd being families that came to the show with their kids. While the wrestling on this show cannot compare to former Loop shows, this first NXT 2.0 show was driven by storylines throughout the night which did work well. These stories made the crowd get into the show in a completely different fashion but it was still very entertaining and captivating.
