Reel Rumble 3 Night 2 from The Mahoning Drive-In in Lehighton,PA Sat June 4th
- In Tag Team Action: South Philly’s Finest vs Gummi Boar Comedy match with a few hard hitting spots peppered in. SPF made a reference to A Bronx Tale telling folks that they were bad luck and to send throw them in the bathroom! Gummi Biar pick up the win via pin with a 3D!
-Drive-In Donnybrook: Anything Goes, No Time Limit: Krist Worthless vs Jeff Cannonball. Someone was set up in an inflatable baby pool ringside with water in it. That person… Krist Worhless. Stiff, though family friendly excellent brawl with comedy mixed in. The baby pool came into play as did sodas, (Cannonball reviews Sodas online and has his own Blood Orange Soda), A 5 Gallon Bucket, and anything that wasn’t nailed down! At one point they brawled into the trailer that some of the staff live in over busy weekends. Moments later, Cannonball, Worthless and the ref came flying out of the trailer one after the other and then Virgil Cardamone, one of the partners for the drive in came out of the trailer holding a broom, and got a huge pop! Cannonball hit Worthless with a film canister and taunted Mahoning General Manager Mark Nelson by saying he was gong to turn the Drive-In into a solar farm after all (the Mahoning was saved from being turned into a Solar Farm last July) and bring the films to Becky’s- another local Drive-In. Nelson threw his popcorn into Cannonball’s face, which blinded him for a second but he managed to get the pin right after. Krist Worthless told Cannonball that while he is trash, he has a great soda and he wanted to have one with him. After a cheers and a chug, Worhtless hit a a stunner on Cannonball to leave him laying. Really fun match! Jeff Cannonball is a Deathmatch wrestler, for some promotions, but with his mic skills and charisma could probably do really well with bouts like this.
- 8 Person Tag: Kodama, Crusher, Huckabee & Billy Avery vs Mach 10, Electro Ant, Ultimo Ant & Pancakes. Comedy match with some great wrestling from Huckabee. The story here was that Billy Avery wanted to be on the face team and his team kept having to tag in since he wouldn’t fight the other team. At one point Avery went to the apron of the face team looking for the hot tag. He finally got tagged in, which got a pop, but the ref waived it off, reminding him he’s on the other team. Good guys get the pin after a a big splash from Ultramantis Black onto Kodama and help from Billy Avery. Chris Reject leads the heel team in beating down Billy Avery before Hydra comes in for the save and cleans house, pantsing Reject who was unaware his team was laid to waste. Fun match.
- Delirious vs Rex Lawless. Power vs unpredictability. Rex is a monster so, hope spots from Delirious, frustrating Lawless and riling up the crowd. It looked like a win for Lawless, but Delirious scored a quick pin. My phone was having issues, but my notes say inside cradle. Good match.
- Tag Team Action: “World Famous” C.B. and Abby Jane vs “World Class” Channing Thomas and Big Dan Champion with Sidney Bakabella Main event set up Friday night. Terrific, fun grudge match main event! Back and forth action with the mich smaller Abby and C.B. Having to outsmart Bakabella, Champion and Thomas. A fair bit of comedy, but also some logic and psychology with Abby and C.B. fighting from underneath. Champion took Abby lightly and got a series of stuff kicks for his trouble. Later, on the apron, Champion was working C.B.’s arm while facing the crowd. C.B. turbed the momentum and Dan Champion, still looking at the crowd was now working Thomas’ arm. Bakabella kept trying to tell the showboating Champion, meanwhile, Abby and C.B. Headed to the outside and waved at Big Dan. Suddenly Champion figured out what was going on. Big laugh and pop from the crowd. Dan and Thomas head outside to regroup, and get coaching from Bakabella, stealing two fans chairs. My phone and backup power bank are dead at this point, so no pictures of the rest. Back in the ring, Champion and Bakabella and Thomas are keeping the ref doing an abdominal stretch with lots of extra help and when Abby tries to break it up, the ref stops her from running in. They stop before the ref sees. This goes on a few times. Abby and C.B. get control and do an abdominal stretch with the help of a bunch of ringside kids! Finish came when Bakabella went to throw powder and missed hitting Big Dan, who then hit a Rock Bottom on Thomas. Abby went for the pin and C.B. piled on for the win! Abby has a ton of charisma and was a huge star in this match vs the potential star she looked like on Friday. I wish she was a stock so I could invest and get paid!
Following the bouts, on the Mahoning Big Screen there was a Tag Team of Wrestling Movies:
The Running Man starring Jesse Ventura vs. The Scorpion King starring The Rock.
Before The Scorpion King a trailer for Nacho Libre played.
Reel Rumble 3 is in the books, and was ludicrously fun! I can’t wait for Reel Rumble 4 next year! I put in my suggestion to Virgil and Mark to have that be Hogan vs Andre with one night of movies headlined by Rocky 3 with Hogan and Mr. T and the other headlined by The Princess Bride with Andre The Giant. Fingers crossed!
Pictures to come!
