WHAT SHOULD GO DOWN TONIGHT: THE HELL IN A CELL 2022 TIP SHEET

By Dave Scherer, Mike Johnson, and Richard Trionfo on 2022-06-03 23:32:00

This Sunday 6/5, WWE will present the 2022 Hell in A Cell PPV from The Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL.  Here is our take on what will happen.

Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins in Hell in A Cell.

Dave: The build for this really heated up on Raw on Monday.  They pushed Cody very well since his return.  Will it continue here?  It should if they want to actually see what they have in him.  The fans have been live for him and one of WWE's big issues right now is that almost everyone is interchangeable.  If Cody loses here, he starts on that road.  I wouldn't do that.

Mike:  Cody is 2-0 here.  The build has been good and I'm looking forward to it.    Cody needs the win.  They are onto something with him, a loss won't hurt Seth but it could hurt Cody.

Richard:  The brawl on Monday made me really care about this match.  Cody appears to be on a path to face Roman Reigns at some point this summer so a loss in Hell in a Cell would not help him.  It is a shame that the only match that they can put into the cell is one with a two month build.

WWE Raw Women's Champion Bianca Belair vs. Asuka vs. Becky Lynch - Triple Threat Match.

Dave: Three way matches, ugh.  I hate them when the Title is on the line.  I never like to see the belt change there and I wouldn't do it here.  There are plenty of ways to keep the Title on Bianca and that is what they should do.

Mike:  This could be fun given the level of talent involved.  My gut is Asuka is there to be defeated and it's Bianca who retains.

Richard:  This shouldn't have been a singles match but WWE has to do their booking tropes.  Bianca should retain the title, but I can see them putting the title on Becky for some reason.

Edge & Rhea Ripley & Damian Priest vs. Liv Morgan & AJ Styles & Finn Balor.

Dave: When they put her with Edge, I had hope, finally, for Rhea.  Then she lost to Liv on Monday.  No disrespect to Liv but Rhea should be booked to her look, which is a scary woman.  Instead, well she's just like everyone else, she just dresses like a Road Warrior.  Anyway, I would put the heels over because if they don't it's hard to take them seriously.

Mike: Is this the week Beth Phoenix joins Judgment Day?  I can see a deal where Liv has Rhea beaten but Beth interferes and they out Liv, especially if she needs to take extended time off for that film.

Richard:  This has the potential to be a good match with the talent in the ring.  I wish they had more than Rhea and Liv in the match so when they tag out it doesn't hurt the flow of the match.  The House of Judgment should win and if they do, I hope Rhea gets the pinfall and then uses that to move on to face Bianca for the women's title.

WWE United States Champion Theory vs. Mustafa Ali.

Dave: It's WAY too soon to even think about taking the belt off of Theory.  WAY too soon.

Mike:  Theory does something "unexpected" to retain, right out of the Mr. McMahon playbook.

Richard:  I want Mustafa Ali to win the title but if he comes close to winning, there will be some slamming your head into the wall insanity level booking to keep the title on Theory.

Bobby Lashley vs. Omos & MVP  in Hell in A Cell.

Dave: At least they realize that Lashley isn't a magician and can only do so much with Omos, so they added MVP.  I think they also added him to take the fall.  I wish Lashley could pin Omos and move on to someone who can give him a good feud but I doubt it happens.

Mike: This is going to be, uh, something.  My guess is Omos gets trapped in the ropes or something, allowing Lashley to wipe out and defeat MVP.

Richard:  This match is worth the price of admission alone.  Lashley gets the win by making MVP tap out to the Hurt Lock.

Kevin Owens vs. Ezekiel.

Dave: When Owens re-signed with WWE rather than jump to AEW, I took it to mean he was happy with WWE and his schedule there.  At his age, he knew if he went to AEW he would have to bump like the guys there do and my guess is he made the decision to do more character oriented stuff and less body destructive stuff.  Smart move in my opinion.  He is great in his role and his role here is to put over Ezekiel.

Mike: Dave is 100% right.  This is going to be about Ezekiel out-smarting Owens and winning, driving Owens even more insane.  It's been a fun deal to watch thus far.

Richard:  They should have added a stipulation to this match to make it an 'I'm Elias' match where Owens would win when he makes Ezekiel admit he is Elias.  Since they didn't go that way, I think they have Chad or Otis screw things up for Kevin and that is how Ezekiel gets the win.

Baron Corbin versus Madcap in a No Holds Barred Match

Dave: Moss should win so Happy won't be happy.

Mike: Moss should win here, because if he doesn't, what's the point in even trying to push him?

Richard:  Riddick Moss should win because he isn't Baron Corbin.
