This weekend's scheduled debut event for Wrestling Entertainment Series, the new promotion being headed up by former WWE stars The Authors of Pain this Saturday 6/4 at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England has been postponed, PWInsider.com has learned. The new date will be 7/9.
Last night, Chelsea Green, who was slated to perform on the event, tweeted that the event had been canceled. As of this writing, tickets are still on sale but we are being told the event, which was slated to stream live on FITE.TV would be "postponed." The move is not a surprise as there was almost no time between the announcement of the event being held and the actual event itself, putting them at a massive disadvantage in terms of building interest and selling actual tickets to the WES event - and given the lineup and the venue, it was not going to be a cheap event to produce.
The event, as it was originally conceived, was to be feature:
*Adam Scherr vs. Alistair Overeem to crown the first WES Champion.
*Lina Fanene (the former Nia Jax) vs. CJ Perry (the former Lana) to determine the first WES Women's Champion.
*Legion of Pain (the former Authors of Pain) vs. Steve Maclin & Wes Blake to determine the first WES Tag Team Champion.
*Killer Kross vs. Jonah vs. Samuray del Sol.
*Madison Rayne & Tenille Dashwood vs. Deonna Purrazzo & Chelsea Green to determine the first WES Tag Team Champions.
*Lince Dorado vs. Dean Muhtadi (the former Mojo Rawley)
*Mike Bennett vs. Biff Busick.
*Dirty Dango vs. Levis Valenzuela Jr. (the former No Way Jose)
There is no word on a new card, etc. Tickets for the original date will be valid on 7/9.
