5/22/22 Results from the Best of the Super Juniors 29 from Akita, Japan:
Tiger Mask, Alex Zayne, Ace Austin and Clark Conners vs. YOH, Ryusuke Taguchi, Jado and Hiroyoshi Tenzan
Zayne pins Jado after a Cinnamon Twist.
Dick Togo and SHO vs. Gedo and Taiji Ishimori
Lots of cheating by both teams.
Ishimori forces Togo to tap out to the Bone Lock.
SHO tried to hit Ishimori with the wrench, but missed. SHO runs away before Ishimori gives him a receipt.
Yoshinobu Kanemaru and TAKA Michinoku vs. Shingo Takagi and Hiromu Takahashi
Takagi pins TAKA after a Pumping Bomber.
BOSJ 29 B Block Matches:
Robbie Eagles vs. DOUKI
Lots of aerial moves to begin. Eagles with a spinning heel kick, sending DOUKI to the floor. They chase each other in and out of the ring. DOUKI goes for a tope suicida but turns it into a tornado DDT on the floor. Back in the ring, DOUKI applies a cravat and hits a basement dropkick to the neck. DOUKI with a neck breaker. Two count. Eagles counters by going after DOUKI’s leg. Eagles with a standing shiranui. Eagles wraps DOUKI’s legs in an Indian Death Lock and stomps on them. Eagles goes for a 450 splash on the leg, but DOUKI catches him and applies the Italian Stretch #32. Eagles gets the ropes. DOUKI hits a Daybreaker. Two count. DOUKI went for a double stomp off the top rope. Eagles moves and DOUKI tweaks his knee. DOUKI is selling the knee. Eagles with a dropkick to the knee and a Turbo Backpack. Two count. DOUKI picks up Eagles on his shoulders, Eagles reverses out and applies the Ron Miller Special.
DOUKI taps out.
Robbie Eagles earns two points, bringing his total to 4 points. DOUKI has 2 points total.
El Lindaman vs. TJP
TJP goes to work on Lindaman’s neck with a head scissors. Lindaman catches him with a neck breaker. TJP hyperextends Lindaman’s right arm. TJP traps him in an Indian Death Lock. TJP bridges into a Muta Lock. TJP hits a senton and gets a two count. TJP come off the top rope. Lindaman catches him and throws him across the ring with an Exploder suplex. Lindaman hits a tope con hilo to the floor. Back in the ring, Lindaman hits a DDT. They reverse out of each other’s moves. TJP hits a springboard DDT and a Final Cut. Two count. TJP misses a swanton. Lindaman with a dropkick to the face. Lindaman avoids a tornado DDT and hits a vertical suplex. Lindaman with a snap German suplex pin. Two count. TJP quickly applies an STF. Lindaman crawls to the ropes. TJP lets go, drags him to the middle of the ring to reapply the hold. Lindaman reverses out and plants TJP with a German suplex with a bridge.
Lindaman pins TJP.
El Lindaman earns 2 points, bringing his total to 4 points.
Surprising win. It seems TJP was out wrestling El Lindaman, and you could see the experience of TJP was shining through. Nice win by El Lindaman.
Master Wato vs. BUSHI
BUSHI dropkicks Wato in the back as the bell rings. They battle to the floor. BUSHI stuns Wato with a DDT on the mat. BUSHI, back in the ring, hits a neck breaker. Two count. BUSHI locks in an STF. Wato gets the ropes. BUSHI stomps and kicks Wato. Wato counters with a back breaker. Wato with a torneo and a springboard uppercut. Two count. Wato with a spinning high kick. Two count. BUSHI hits a DDT on the ring apron. BUSHI goes for neck breaker but Wato hits another high spin kick. Wato with a German suplex. Two count. Pace picks up. BUSHI with a back cracker. BUSHI follows with a lung blower. BUSHI hits an MX.
BUSHI pins Wato.
BUSHI earns 2 points, with a total of 4. Master Wato remains at zero.
Titan vs. El Phantasmo
Titan gets a near fall early in the match that frustrated ELP. Titan goes for some offense off the ropes while ELP struts around the ring and shows off for the crowd. Titan begins mocking ELP’s strut and mannerisms which gets ELP upset. ELP jumps in the ring and Titan dazzles with some acrobatics and rope walks. ELP hits Sudden Death to the gut and DDT’s Titan on the floor. ELP hits a stalling vertical suplex. ELP shows off his rope walking skills. Titan crotches him on the tope turnbuckle and hits a Superrana. Pace picks up. Titan hits a crazy tornado DDT which flips ELP head over heels and out of the ring. Titan hits an amazing top rope Asai Moonsault. Titan goes for a springboard double stomp. ELP moves out of the way. They reverse out of each others moves. ELP hits a sit down powerbomb. Two count. ELP looks frustrated and goes after his mask. Titan kicks ELP in the head and hits a sit down Death Valley Driver. Two count. Titan hits a running lariat and follows with a springboard double stomp. Two count. ELP hits a UFO. Two count. Titan blocks Sudden Death by ELP. Titan hits two stiff kicks and a super kick to the face. Titan picks of ELP on his shoulders, spins him around and drops him face first on his knee. Two count. As both men were struggling to their feet, ELP pulls on Titan’s mask and it comes off. Titan hides his face. The referee screams at ELP, who claims it was an accident. The referee allows Titan to put the mask on. ELP hits Sudden Death and follows with CR2.
ELP pins Titan.
El Phantasmo earns 2 points and 6 points total. Titan remains at zero points.
Good match despite the mask nonsense. Phantasmo can wrestle almost any style and is a great heel.
Wheeler Yuta vs. El Desperado
Good chain wrestling to start the match. Yuta with a slam and a senton, then an arm bar. Desperado dropkicks the left knee. Desperado slams his knee into the ring post. Desperado traps him in an Indian Death Lock. Yuta gets to the ropes. Yuta hits a reverse atomic drop and an enzugiri. Yuta hits a tope suicida. Yuta snaps Desperado’s left arm over the top rope. Yuta with a top rope splash. Two count. Desperado kicks the left knee and a dragon screw. Desperado applies Numero Dos. Yuta dashes for the ropes. They reverse out of each other’s move until Desperado applies Numero Dos again. Yuta screams in pains until he is able to reverse out and apply a Fujiwara armbar. Yuta grabs Desperado’s other arm and applies Cattle Mutilation. Desperado screams and struggles to get to the ropes. He gets one toe on the rope and the referee breaks it up. Both men get to their feet and Desperado hits a Spinebuster. He follows with Guitarra de Angel. Desperado still selling his injured arm.
Both men throw elbows and strikes. Yuta upper cuts the left arm. Desperado kicks his left knee. Yuta hyperextends his left elbow. Desperado takes down Yuta by the left leg and hits a dragon screw. Yuta rolls up Desperado with a surprise pin. Desperado kicks out. Yuta hits the Pain Thriller. Desperado kicks out at two. Yuta hammers Desperado with elbows. He rolls Desperado into a Seat Belt Clutch. Desperado reverses out and goes for Pinche Loco. Yuta reverses out and goes back to the left arm. Desperado reverses out and connects with Pinche Loco. But he is in too much pain to follow up. He goes for another Pinche Loco but Yuta reverses out and they exchange near falls. Desperado hits another Pinche Loco.
Desperado pins Yuta.
El Desperado earns 2 points, bringing his total to 6 points. Wheeler Yuta has 2 points.
This was a good match. Yuta looks like a star. He fits well into the New Japan style and a series between the Blackpool Combat Club and Suzuki-Gun would be fun to watch.
Desperado shakes hands with Yuta, who lay on the mat exhausted. Desperado takes the mic and thanks Yuta for the match. He puts over ROH and the Pure Title.
