5/21/22 Results from New Japan’s Best of the Super Juniors 29, A Block from Aomori, Japan:

Dick Togo, Gedo and El Phantasmo vs. Titan, El Lindaman and Jado

Lindaman pins Gedo with a German suplex with a bridge.  

Shingo Takagi and BUSHI vs. Master Wato and Hiroyoshi Tenzan 

Takagi pins Tenzan after a Pumping Bomber.

DOUKI, TAKA Michinoku and El Desperado vs. Tiger Mask, Robbie Eagles and Wheeler Yuta

Eagles pins TAKA after a Turbo Backpack.  

BOSJ 29 A Block Matches:

Clark Conners vs. SHO

SHO comes to the ring first.  As Conners enters, SHO runs around  the crowd and attacked Conners from behind.   Conners fights back and knocks SHO to the floor.  They fight to ringside and SHO hits Conners with a chair to the gut.  SHO misses with a chair shot to the head.   Conners grabs the chair and is about to smash SHO in the head, but the referee takes the chair away.  Conners hits a spear on SHO.   Conners is cut over his left eye.

Back in the ring, Conners hammers SHO with fists and chops.   SHO attacks Conners left arm by whipping it on the top rope.  They go back to the floor.  SHO grabs the bell hammer and the referee takes it away.  SHO grabs a chair and smashes Conners in the left arm twice.   They battle past the crowd with SHO trying to break Conners' arm.   SHO runs back to the ring.  Conners is almost counted out.   SHO applies a double wrist lock.  Conners gets a rope break.   Conners hits a Jeep Flip.   Conners with a back drop and an Extinction Elbow.  Two count.   SHO hits a spear, and a vertical suplex.  Two count.   SHO goes for a cross arm breaker.  Rope break.  Conners with a deadlift German suplex and a powerslam.  Conners goes for a Trophy Kill but SHO grabs the referee.  SHO hits a release German suplex.  SHO grabs his wrench.  The referee fights with SHO over the wrench.  The referee pulls it away.  SHO hits a low blow on Conners.  SHO rolls up Conners with a school boy pin.

SHO pins Conners.

SHO earns two points, his first points of the tournament. Clark Conners remains at zero points.

Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Francesco Akira 

They begin with aerial tactics.  Taguchi goes for a hip attack and Akira counters with an atomic drop.   Akira hits a tope con hilo to the floor.  Akira rolls him in the ring for a cover.  Two count.  Akira with a basement dropkick to the neck.  Two count.   Akira with a neck vice submission.  Taguchi comes back with a spring board hip attack and plancha.  Taguchi with Three Amigos.   Two count.   Taguchi misses a hip attack.  Taguchi rolls up Akira with a school boy.   Two count.  Taguchi goes for an ankle lock.   Akira goes for a sunset flip.  Taguchi rolls out and hits a drop kick.  Akira hits a Superrana then a running dropkick.   Akira hits a Speedfire.  Two count.  Enzugiri by Taguchi.   Both men throw elbows.   Akira dropkicks Taguchi to the floor.  Akira with an Asai Moonsault.   Akira misses a Fireball.   Taguchi rolls him up.  Two count.  Taguchi traps him in an ankle lock.  Akira hits a super kick.  Akira goes for a body scissors take down pin, but Taguchi drops to his knees which puts his weight on Akira’s chest.

Taguchi pins Akira.

Ryusuke Taguchi earns two points.  Francesco Akira remains at two points.

Akira was a much better heel in this match.  He was talking trash and had a cockiness about him.  Taguchi avoided any pulling down his pants, which is never needed.  Solid match.

YOH vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru  

Kanemaru attacks at the bell.  The fight to the floor.  YOH goes for a plancha but Kanemaru moves and YOH tweaks his knee.  

Kanemaru hits a dropkick to the knee.  Kanemaru locks in the figure four. YOH gets to the ropes.  YOH with a Falcon Arrow.  YOH goes for a German Suplex with a bridge, but YOH’s leg gives out.   Kanemaru hits a moonsault and a reverse DDT.  Two count.   Kanemaru goes for Deep Impact but YOH hits a dropkick.   Kanemaru grabs his whiskey bottle and goes for a Suntori Surprise.  YOH takes it away and takes and mouthful of whiskey and sprays Kanemaru in the eyes.  YOH hits a Direct Drive.

YOH pins Kanemaru.

YOH earns two points, bringing his total to 4 points.  Yoshinobu Kanemaru remains at zero points.

Ace Austin vs. Hiromu Takahashi 

Quick pace to start the match.   Hiromu takes down Austin by the arm and pulls out a card from Austin’s arm pad.  Hiromu goes to slice his hand but the referee sees it and takes the card away.  Hiromu argues with  the referee and Austin takes down Hiromu with an arm submission.  As the referee checks on Hiromu, Austin pulls out another card slices Hiromu’s hand.  Hiromu rolls out of the ring selling the pain.  Austin follows with hammerlock and chin lock submission.  Hiromu gets to the ropes.  Austin hits two vertical suplexes.  Two count.  Hiromu counters with a dropkick, a lariat and a basement dropkick.   Pace picks up.  Both hit their big moves and countered each other’s moves.   Hiromu hits Victory Royal and followed with Time Bomb II.

Hiromu pins Austin.

Hiromu Takahashi earns two points, with a total of six points.  Ace Austin remains at four points.

Both men shake hands after the match, showing mutual respect.

Alex Zayne vs. Taiji Ishimori 

Zayne starts the match hitting two sentons on Ishimori.  Ishimori tricks the referee by giving the ring bell hammer to Zayne.  Zayne gives the hammer back to the referee.  Ishimori tries to hit Zayne with a chair but Zayne blocks it, grabs the chair and hits Ishimori in the gut.  Zayne sits Ishimori on the chair and runs around the ring.  He is about to attack when Ishimori dropkicks his leg sending him arm first into the chair.   Zayne is selling his arm.  Ishimori rips off the turnbuckle pad.   Ishimori sends him arm first into the metal bolt in the corner.   Ishimori goes for an arm submission, stretching out the left arm.  Zayne gets to the ropes.   Zayne runs to the ropes and Ishimori drops down.  Zayne cartwheels over Ishimori, but Ishimori grabs his left arm and applies the Yes Lock.   Zayne immediately grabs for the ropes.   Zayne hits a lariat and a somersault leg drop.  Two count.   Zayne with a hurricanrana for a two count.   Zayne with ban Ax Kick.  Ishimori throws Zayne’s shoulder into the turnbuckle again.  He rips off the medical tape on Zayne’s left arm.  Zayne cuts his face going into the exposed turnbuckle.   Zayne fights back and hits the Baja Blast.  Zayne goes for a Cinnamon Twist but misses.  Ishimori applies the Bone Lock.  Zayne gets to the ropes.  Ishimori hits a lung blower.  Two count.   Ishimori goes for a Bloody Cross.  Zayne counters with a pop up knee strike.  Zayne goes for a Taco Driver.   Ishimori with La Mistica into a Bone Lock.  Ishimori rolls him back to the middle of the ring.

Zayne taps out.

Taiji Ishimori earns two points, with six points total.  Alex Zayne remains at four points.

Ishimori thanks and puts over Alex Zayne.  He says he should be a Heavyweight.

Good match.  Ishimori continues to look strong since winning the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Title and is on a roll right now.
