5/19 NJPW BEST OF SUPER JUNIOR REPORT FROM AOMORI, JAPAN

5/19/22 Results from New Japan’s Best of the Super Junior 29 B Block from Hachinohe City, Aomori, Japan:

Hiroyoshi Tenzan and YOH vs. TAKA Michinoku and Yoshinobu Kanemaru 

YOH pins TAKA after a Direct Driver.

After the match, Kanemaru threw a cheap shot into the leg of YOH.  They will face each other in the tournament on Saturday.  

Jado, Ryusuke Taguchi, Clark Conners and Alex Zayne vs. Dick Togo, Gedo, SHO and Taiji Ishimori 

Zayne had his left arm taped up as he came to the ring, as a result of his match against SHO last night.

Taguchi traps Gedo in an ankle lock submission.  Gedo taps out.

Ishimori attacked Zayne after the match, choking him with a t-shirt. 

Tiger Mask and Ace Austin vs. Shingo Takagi and Hiromu Takahashi 

Takagi pins Tiger Mask after a Pumping Bomber.

BOSJ 29 B Block Matches:

Wheeler Yuta vs. DOUKI

They exchange headlocks to start.  Yuta with a slam and a senton.  Two count.  DOUKI rakes the eyes.  Yuta with a dropkick sending DOUKI to the floor.  Yuta goes for a tope suicida but DOUKI kicks him in the face.  DOUKI hits a tope suicida of his own.  DOUKI hits a DDT on the floor mat.  Back in the ring, DOUKI works on Yuta’s neck, using a cravat and neck submissions.   Yuta counters with a lariat.   Yuta with a high kick and a lariat in the corner.   Yuta comes off the top rope with a forearm, sending DOUKI to the floor.  Yuta connects with another tope suicida.   Yuta bounces DOUKI off the ring post and throws him in the ring.  Yuta hits a springboard Flatliner.  Two count.  DOUKI applies the Italian Stretch #32.   Yuta gets to the ropes for a break.  DOUKI goes for a Daybreaker but Yuta counters with a deadlift German suplex with a bridge.  Two count.  Yuta traps DOUKI’s arms and bridges into a Cattle Mutilation.  DOUKI screams as he struggles to get to the ropes.   Yuta goes for the Pain Thriller but DOUKI reverses out and applies the Italian Stretch #32.  Yuta looked to almost pass out but he gets to the ropes.  DOUKI hits a Daybreaker.  Two count.  DOUKI goes for Suplex de La Luna but Yuta reverses into a Victory Roll.  Two count.  DOUKI with an enzugiri.  They do a bunch of quick reversals.  Yuta hit a bunch of Bryan Danielson elbow strikes and rolled up DOUKI in a Seat Belt Clutch.

Yuta pins DOUKI.

Wheeler Yuta earns his first two points of the tournament.  DOUKI remains at two points.

Good match.  Both men matched up really well and kept pace with each other.  All I could think of in this match was a series of matches between the Blackpool Combat Club and Suzuki-Gun.  Hopefully it will happen someday.

Titan vs. El Lindaman

Both men shake hands before the match.  They try for arm submissions then exchange quick near falls. Titan hits a spin kick to the gut.  Lindaman goes to the floor.  Titan misses a moonsault on the floor and Lindaman kicks him in the face.  They exchange strikes on the floor.  Back in the ring, Titan applies a Mexican Figure Four.  Lindaman gets to the ropes.  They battle on the ring apron, throwing strikes.  Titan hits a superkick and Lindaman falls on the apron.  Titan goes for a double stomp from the top rope, but Lindaman moves out of the way.  Titan crashes hard on the ring apron and clutches at his leg as he falls to the floor. 

Lindaman hits a tope con hilo with such speed that he rolls off Titan and into the first row of the crowd.   Lindaman is bleeding from a cut on his chin.   Both men are holding their injured legs.   Back in the ring, Lindaman hits a quick DDT.  Two count.  Titan fires up and applies the Mexican Figure Four.   But Lindaman reverses out.  They fight to the top rope.  Titan picks up Lindaman in a fireman’s carry and runs him head first into the ring corner.  Titan flips him over into a Darkness Falls.  Two count.    Titan hits a Facebuster.  Lindaman with a back suplex.   Titan with a Falcon Arrow version.  Two count.  Titan hits a double stomp.   Titan does not go for the pin, but he tries for a springboard double stomp.  Lindaman moves out of the way.  Titan lands hard on his injured leg.  Lindaman with a dropkick to the injured knee.  Lindaman grabs the arm and pulls Titan over into a slam.  Two count.  Lindaman hits a deadlift German suplex with a bridge.

Lindaman pins Titan.

El Lindaman earns two points.   Titan remains at zero points.

Both men needed medical assistance after the match.

Robbie Eagles vs. BUSHI

BUSHI attacks Eagles at the bell.  Eagles dropkicks BUSHI to the floor.  Eagles hits a flipping tope suicida.  Eagles batters him with chops.   BUSHI gets back in the ring and hits a DDT.   BUSHI with a neck breaker and applies an STF.   Rope break.  BUSHI chokes Eagles with his shirt.  Eagles gets out and hits BUSHI with a running elbow and knee strike.  Eagles kicks BUSHI in the chest.  Eagles with two running knees into the corner.   Eagles hits a spring board dropkick to the knee. Eagles applies the Ron Miller Special.   BUSHI gets the rope break.  BUSHI with a school boy pin.  Two count.   BUSHI dropkicks Eagles into the ropes.  BUSHI DDT’s Eagles on the ring apron.  Eagles goes for a Turbo Backpack but BUSHI counters into a Back Cracker.  BUSHI hits a Destroyer.  BUSHI hits an MX.

BUSHI pins Eagles.

BUSHI earns two points.   Robbie Eagles remains with two points total.

Master Wato vs. El Phantasmo 

The referee went to check the wrestlers before the match starts.  ELP and the referee collided head to head.  Both were selling the effects of the accident.

They start with headlocks and head scissors.  Both men show off their athleticism, trying to one up each other.  Wato mocks ELP’s mannerisms.   ELP takes a walk to the floor.  He pulls Wato to the ring apron and rakes his back.   He suplexes Wato on the floor.  Back in the ring, Wato is tied to the Tree of Woe and ELP stomps on him.   ELP traps Wato in a Sleeper.   Wato fights out and hits a back suplex.   Wato misses a dropkick.  ELP goes for a moonsault but Wato gets his knees up.  ELP rolls to the floor and Wato hits a tope con hilo.   

Wato tries for a springboard elbow but ELP escapes to the floor.   Wato follows and hits a twisting splash on ELP.   Wato throws him in the ring and connects with a dropkick from the top rope.  Wato with a German suplex.  Wato hits Recientemente.  Two count.  Wato goes for the RPP but ELP knocks his legs out.  ELP hits a superplex and a UFO.   They exchange reversals and near falls.  Wato goes for a spring board forearm but ELP hits Sudden Death.   ELP follows with CR2.

ELP pins Wato.

El Phantasmo earns two points, with a total of 4 points.  Wato remains at zero points.

El Desperado vs. TJP

Good chain wrestling to start this match.  Both men trying to not make a mistake.  Desperado offers a handshake then kicks TJP in the knee.  Desperado charges but TJP ducks and he flies out of the ring.   TJP hits a plancha on the floor.  Back in the ring, TJP applies an Indian Deathlock.  TJP transitions to an arm whip, hyperextending the arm.   The pace quickens.   Desperado hits a spear and a Dragon Screw.  Desperado goes for Numero Dos but TJP quickly gets to the ropes.  TJP suplexes Desperado gut first on the top rope.  TJP hits a top rope splash on the back of Desperado who falls to the floor.  TJP rolls Desperado in the ring and hits the Mamba Splash.  Kick out at two!   

Desperado hits a Spinebuster.  TJP gets an Octopus Lock on.   Desperado was falling to his knees in pain.  Desperado reverses out into Numero Dos.  TJP tries for the ropes.  Desperado rolls him to the middle of the ring but TJP grabs his leg in a pin attempt.  Two count.   TJP applies an STF.   Desperado rolls TJP into an inside cradle.  Two count.  TJP plants him with a back suplex.   They exchange punches and elbows.  TJP with a tornado DDT.  TJP misses a Mamba Splash.  Desperado locks in Numero Dos.  TJP tries to wiggle out but Desperado drops him on his head.  Two count.  Desperado goes for Pinche Loco and TJP reverses into a pin.  Two count.   Desperado connects with a right punch to the jaw.  Desperado goes for Pinche Loco.  TJP blocks it and takes him over.  Two count.  Desperado lifts his shoulders and holds on and hits Pinche Loco.

Desperado pins TJP.

El Desperado earns two points, with four points total.   TJP remains at two points.
