5/18/22 Results from New Japan’s Best of the Super Junior 29 from Sendai, Japan

Yuto Nakashima and Tiger Mask vs. Kosei Fujita and Ryohei Oiwa 

Tiger Mask pins Fujita after a Tiger Driver.

Jado, Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Master Wato vs. Dick Togo, El Phantasmo and Gedo

Wato forces Gedo to submit to Vendeval.

Robbie Eagles, Titan and Wheeler Yuta vs. TAKA Michinoku, El Desperado and DOUKI

There is minor heat between DOUKI and El Desperado before the match.  

Yuta pins TAKA with a Seat Belt Clutch.

BOSJ 29 A Block Matches:

YOH vs. Clark Conners

Lots of grappling at the start.  Conners uses his power to take down YOH with a shoulder tackle.  YOH uses his speed to hit a dropkick.  Conners with another shoulder tackle and a snap suplex.   He punches YOH in the head and takes him down with a double axe handle to the lower back.   Conners traps YOH in a Full Nelson, then another snap suplex.   Conners goes for a spear but YOH hits a dropkick.  YOH with a running elbow and a neck breaker.   Conners hits a Jeep Flip (the Pounce), sending YOH flying.   An elbow drop on YOH and a cover.  Two count.  YOH with a Dragon Screw.   Conners hits a spear.  Conners goes for the Trophy Kill but YOH counters and traps him in an ankle submission.   YOH hits two German suplexes and Conners headbutts him.  Conners with a powerslam.  Two count.   YOH hits a DMV.  YOH hits two super kicks.   YOH connects with a Direct Driver.

YOH pins Conners.

YOH earns his first two points.  Clark Conners has zero points.   

Ace Austin vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru 

Kanemaru tried to attack Austin at the bell but Austin was ready and countered with aerial moves.  Kanemaru took the match to the floor got the advantage.   Kanemaru took Austin back in the ring and slowed the pace with headlocks and strikes.   Kanemaru trapped Austin with a head scissors, cranking on his neck.   Austin counters with speed and dropkicks.  Austin gets an arm submission and pulls out an Ace card and give Kanemaru a paper cut.  They fight to the floor.  Austin stuns Kanemaru with kick to the chest.  Austin hits a Fosbury Flop onto Kanemaru.   Back in the ring, Austin misses a spinning high kick and Kanemaru plants him with a back suplex.   Kanemaru with a Satellite DDT.  Two count.  Kanemaru with a moonsault press.  Two count.  Austin hits Ace’s High, then House of Cards.   Two count.  Kanemaru with a Victory Roll.  Two count.  Austin hits a knee to the face, kick to the chest and a roundhouse kick.  Austin hits The Fold.

Austin pins Kanemaru.

Ace Austin earns two points, bringing his total to 4 points.   Yoshinobu Kanemaru remains at 0 points.

Good match.  Ace Austin looks great in this tournament.  Kanemaru also deserves credit for making Austin look awesome.

Alex Zayne vs. SHO

SHO comes out alone again.  Zayne comes to the ring ready to fight.  House of Torture beat down Zayne last night in their tag match.   Zayne chases SHO around the ring.  He catches SHO and drops him back first on the ring apron.  Zaynes beats on SHO outside the ring.  SHO is pushed into the ring.  Zayne hits a flipping senton on SHO’s back.  Zayne follow with another spinning flipping senton.   Two count.   SHO rolls out of the ring.   SHO attacks one of the young lions and tries to break his fingers.  Zayne goes to stop this and checks on the young lion.  SHO grabs a chair and hits Zayne in the gut.   SHO hits Zayne in the left arm with the chair.    SHO wraps his arm around the ring post to do further damage.   SHO continues his attack on the left arm with a double wrist lock.  Zayne hits a lariat.   Zayne goes for a running attack, but SHO gets out of the ring. Zayne changes his momentum and hits a moonsault to the floor.  Back in the ring, Zayne hits three elbows on SHO and follows with a somersault leg drop.   Two count.  

Zayne is still selling the left arm.   SHO hits a spear and continues to attack the left arm.   Zayne hits a Baja Blast.   Zayne goes for a Cinnamon Twist but SHO gets his knees up.  Dick Togo comes to the ring.  SHO grabs his wrench.  SHO goes to hit Zayne but he bumps into Togo.   Zayne hits a jumping knee strike.   SHO traps Zayne in a cross arm breaker.   Zayne gets the rope break.   SHO goes for a cross arm piledriver, but Zayne reverses out and hits a Taco Driver.

Zayne pins SHO.

Alex Zayne earns two points, with a total of 4 points.  SHO with zero points.

Another good match.   Zayne continues to look good early in the tournament.   

Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Taiji Ishimori 

After trying to grapple, Taguchi tried to shake hands.  Ishimori pokes him in the eye.  Taguchi goes for a hip attack, which Ishimori turns into an atomic drop.  Taguchi rolls to the floor.  Ishimori stomps on him and crotches him on the ring post.   Back in the ring, Taguchi is thrown into the ring post, hurting his left arm.  Taguchi fights back and hits a flying hip attack.  Taguchi completes the Three Amigos. Taguchi  hits a running hip attack and goes for an ankle submission.   Ishimori quickly fights out of it.   Ishimori with a running double knee to the chest.  A snap mare and a neck crank.  He rolls Taguchi into the Yes Lock.    Taguchi gets to the ropes.  Taguchi goes for an ankle lock.  Ishimori reverses into a Victory Roll.  Two count.  Taguchi hits an enzugiri.  Ishimori goes for a lung blower but Taguchi reverses into an ankle lock.  Taguchi tries for a Dodon. Ishimori reverses and tries for a Bloody Cross.  Taguchi gets out but Ishimori with a knee strike.  Ishimori goes for Bloody Cross again, but gets rolled into a small package.  Two count.  Ishimori goes for a sunset flip.  Taguchi pulls down his pants to sit on Ishimori’s chest.  Ishimori avoids it and rolls up Taguchi for a pin.  Taguchi’s bare butt is in the air exposed, and Taguchi is covering his open crack with his hands.

Ishimori pins Taguchi.

Taiji Ishimori earns two points, with a total of 4 points.  Taguchi is at zero points.

I am tired of this butt gimmick with Taguchi. 

Hiromu Takahashi vs. Francesco Akira 

They begin throwing elbows.   Hiromu goes for a sunset bomb to the floor.  Akira counters with a plancha.   Pace is quick at the start.   Akira goes for a head scissors submission.  Hiromu gets a rope break. Lots of speed between both men.  Akira goes for a Fire Suplex.  Hiromu reverses into a wheelbarrow suplex.   Both men exchange strikes.   They hit dropkicks on each other.  Hiromu hits a Death Valley Driver into corner.   Too fast to recap it all.  Akira hits a Poisonrana.   He follows with Speedfire.   Two count.   Akira with a spinning face plant.  Akira goes for a Fireball and misses.  Hiromu hits a version of the Dynamite Plunger.  Two count.   They exchange super kicks.  Akira with a Buzzsaw kick.   Hiromu with a lariat.  Two count.    Hiromu with a Victory Royal.  He follows with Time Bomb II.

Hiromu pins Akira.

Hiromu Takahashi earns two points, with 4 points total.  Francesco Akira has two points.
