5/17/22 Results from New Japan’s Best of the Super Jr. 29 B Block from Yamagata, Japan:
Ryohei Oiwa, Kosei Fujita and Clark Conners vs. Yuto Nakashima, Hiroyoshi Tenzan and YOH
Conners pins Nakashima after hitting a Trophy Kill.
TAKA Michinoku and Yoshinobu Kanemaru vs. Ace Austin and Tiger Mask
Austin pins TAKA with The Fold.
The Impact X-Division Champion, Ace Austin, looks sharp in his first tour of New Japan.
Alex Zayne, Ryusuke Taguchi and Jado vs. SHO, Dick Togo and Taiji Ishimori
Ishimori was hesitant to give the Two Sweet Salute to SHO, but did anyway. More teasing of conflict between Bullet Club and House of Torture.
SHO distracts the referee as Togo chokes out Jado with his piano wire. SHO applies the Snake Bite to Jado.
Jado taps out.
BOSJ 29 B Block Matches:
El Lindaman vs. DOUKI
Both men begin throwing strikes. Lindaman hits a neck breaker. DOUKI counters with a Hot Shot. DOUKI applies an arm and neck submission. Lindaman with a rope break. Lindaman reverses out of a suplex and hits a dropkick. Lindaman with a running elbow and a DDT. Lindaman with a dropkick from the top rope. DOUKI counters with an cradle suplex with a bridge. Two count. Lindaman with an Exploder. Lindaman hits a running double stomp, then goes for a top rope splash. DOUKI counters the splash and applies the Italian Stetch #32. Lindaman gets the rope break.
DOUKI goes for a Daybreaker but Lindaman blocks it. Lindaman puts DOUKI on the top rope and they fight for control. Lindaman powerbombs DOUKI. They exchange near falls. DOUKI hits Suplex De La Luna.
DOUKI pins Lindaman.
DOUKI earns 2 points.
Wow! El Lindaman is the G-Rex Champion for GLEAT, but DOUKI gets a pinfall win. Big win for DOUKI.
BUSHI vs. El Phantasmo
ELP’s ring gear is a tribute to X-Pac.
ELP is strutting around the ring and BUSHI dropkicks him to the floor. BUSHI teases a tope suicida. They chase each other in and out of the ring. ELP kicks BUSHI in the face. ELP rakes the back of BUSHI and chokes him with his shirt. ELP hits a delayed vertical suplex. ELP attacks BUSHI’s right hand and tries to rip out his fingers. ELP back rakes BUSHI. ELP walks the top rope but BUSHI kicks him to the floor. BUSHI with a tope suicida. Back in the ring, BUSHI hits a DDT. BUSHI hits a Bushi Roll. Two count. ELP counters with a Gut Buster. ELP goes for CR2 but BUSHI gets a Small Package. Two count. BUSHI with a La Magistral. Two count. ELP reverses the pin. Two count. BUSHI with a rewind kick. ELP with a lariat. They hit each other with elbows. BUSHI with a Back Cracker. Two count. BUSHI goes for an MX. ELP avoids it and hits Sudden Death. ELP hits the CR2.
El Phantasmo pins BUSHI.
El Phantasmo earns two points.
As he leaves the ring, ELP says to the camera: “I got plans bigger than you BUSHI. I got plans bigger than Kenny. Bigger than AJ. Bigger than Devitt.” He gives the hand motion for the World Title belt on his waist. He says to the camera: “G - motherf**king - 1”.
Interesting tease.
Robbie Eagles vs. Wheeler Yuta
They exchange wrist locks and arm locks. They try for quick pins but both men are very quick. Yuta trapped Eagles in a hammerlock and transitioned to a surfboard. Eagles reverses out. Yuta slams Eagles and hits a senton. Two count. Eagles starts with strikes and elbows. Yuta fights back with strikes. Eagles dropkicks Yuta’s right knee. Eagles hits some running attacks and works on the right knee. They exchange elbow shots. Eagles went for a Turbo Backpack, but Yuta reverses into a Tombstone position. He wrapped Eagles’ legs into a submission while dangling in the air. Eagles reverses the move and rolls Yuta and applies the Ron Miller Special. Yuta gets the rope break.
They exchange near falls. Yuta hits elbows to Eagles’ face, just like Bryan Danielson. Yuta tried to trap Eagles into a pin, but he rolled out. Yuta tries for a school boy but only a two count. Yuta grabbed Eagles in a double underhook but he reversed out. Eagles rolled up Yuta.
Eagles pins Yuta.
Yuta applauds Eagles after the match.
Master Wato vs. TJP
Francesco Akira comes to the ring with TJP.
TJP attacks Wato as he gets in the ring. Wato goes to the floor and TJP hits a plancha. Back in the ring, Wato quickly recovers and dropkicks TJP through the ropes. Wato hits a tope con hilo. Wato is preoccupied by Akira’s presence. Wato throws TJP in the ring and tries a flying forearm from the top rope. TJP hits a dropkick to the face. TJP hits a back breaker. The pace picks up as they hit running attacks. TJP with a slam and a slingshot senton. TJP slows the pace with arm and leg submissions. TJP takes down Wato with a spinning headscissors. Wato counters with a high kick. Wato connects with a flying forearm. Wato with a German suplex with a bridge. Two count. TJP with a back suplex. TJP hits a tornado DDT and a neck breaker. Two count. TJP misses a top rope senton. Wato goes for Recientemente. TJP kicks out at two.
Wato goes to the top rope. TJP tries to stop him but Wato drops him face first to the mat. Wato goes for an RPP, but TJP rolls out of the way. TJP hits the Mamba Splash then locks on an STF.
Wato taps out.
TJP earns two points.
TJP pointed at the IWGP Jr Tag Belts as he taunted Wato after the match.
TJP looked great in this match. In contrast, from the first night in A Block, TJP was acting and portraying the proper character that United Empire has been presented to be, arrogant heels that do not need extreme cheating or foreign objects. Francesco Akira will learn how to be a heel from the veteran in TJP and Ospreay. Akira and TJP in the Jr. Tag Division would be great.
Titan vs. El Desperado
Titan started the match at a Lucha pace, speed and quickness. Desperado pokes him in the eye. Titan shows his athleticism on the top rope. Desperado hits a spear. Desperado uses Suzuki-Gun tactics to brutalize Titan and keep him grounded. Desperado went to rip off Titan’s mask until the referee stop him. Desperado works on the left leg. Titan takes Desperado to the floor. Titan hits an Asai moonsault from the top rope on Desperado. Damn!
Titan was selling the left leg. But he hits an dropkick from the top rope. Titan takes down Desperado with dragon screw. Titan applies a Mexican style figure four. Desperado screams in pain as he goes for the ropes. Both men are hobbling. Titan kicks out Desperado’s knee. Titan bounces off the ropes and Desperado catches him in a Spinebuster. Desperado goes for the pin. Two count. Desperado applies Numero Dos. Titan gets to the ropes for a break. They exchange chops. Titan hits a tornado DDT. Titan follows with a double stomp. Two count. Titan goes for a springboard double stomp, but Desperado avoids it. Titan comes down hard on his weak leg. Desperado follows with a spear. Desperado hits Guitarra de Angel. Two count. Desperado goes for Pinche Loco. Titan reverses out and gets La Mistica with a roll up pin. Two count! Desperado hits a right hand to the jaw. Desperado hits Pinche Loco.
Desperado pins Titan.
El Desperado earns two points.
After the match, Desperado shakes Titan’s hand. He takes the mic, and said in Spanish, that he acknowledged Titan as a friend and thanked him for the match.
Fun match! Desperado may not hold the IWGP Jr. Title, but he is a versatile wrestler who can match up against any style of wrestler.
