COMPLETE AEW DYNAMITE BLOG

By Cory Strode on 2022-04-27 20:15:00

It is Wednesday and AEW Dynamite is at the Liacouras Center is Philadelphia PA. The commentary team is Jim Ross, Excalibur, and Tony Schiavone.

CM Punk joins the broadcast team for the opening match.

Dax Harwood vs Cash Wheeler in a qualifying match the Owen Hart Tournament

They lock up and neither can get an advantage. Both are wearing Bret Hart style trunks. They mover to mat wrestling andf neither is able to get an advantage as they pop up and the match resets. They lock up again and this time move to runnign the ropes and then a serties fo takeovers and throws. Each time they lock up, they show a different style of wrestling.

Dax gets a poke to Dax’s eye and they have a disagreement, showing friction between the two. Cash is able to take over after that with strikes and a headlock takeover. Dax is able to put Cash on the top and hits a super plex. Cash hits a baseball slide into Dax, knocking him out of the ring as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Cash hits a third suplex on Dax. They run the ropes and collide in the air with each other. They slowly get to their feet and then throw hands with each other, changing styles again. Then, they trade near falls using increasing complex attempts. These two guys are showing that they can work any style, any type of match, and do it expertly.

They go up to the top and Dax reverses an avalanche suplex for a two count. They run the ropes and Dax leaps into Cash and they both go to the floor with Cash clutching his knee. They both get into the ring on the 9 count. Dax starts to go for the sharp shooter and then stops. They both go for the inside cradle, and Dax is able to get the three count after Cash’s two count.

Winner: Dax Harwood

Great match showing the skills of both men, and using a match end from one of the Owen/Bret matchs from their feud.

They show the face off between Punk and Adam Page last week. They then announce it is Punk vs Page at Double or Nothing.

Punk grabs a mic and heads to the ring. He puts over the locker room. He says he wondered if he can still do this and says hell yeah he can still do this. Punk is wearing a shirt with the Thing on it saying “Sick of it all” which as a comic fan, I’ve never seen. Punk says he can’t promise a win, but he will give 100%. Punk says he will always bet on himself and Page will now he has been in a fight with CM Punk.

Good promo for the launch of the program.

We then get Dan Lambert and Scorpio Sky talking about the main event tonight. Sky gives a pure babyface promo. I doubt they planned this turn, but I am glad the steered into it.

The Blackpool Combat Club vs QT Marshall, Nick Comorado, and Aaron Solow

William Regal joins commentary. And he can say “Man in the mask” every time and I will laugh every time.

The Club attack Marshall’s group before the match, but things quickly reset and Mox is working over Solow in the ring. Yuta tags in and the crowd cheers. Comorado tags in and we quickly go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Yuta is able to get a jaw breaker on Solow, and German suplex onQT and then the tag to Danielson, who hasn’t been in the match yet. He makes up for lost time and cleans house. Danielson hits the shotgun drop kick fronm the top, and then hits a series of kicks on a kneeling Solow. Danielson gets the Lebell lock and QT breaks it up, leading to Mox coming in to break that up.

Yuta gets tagged in and he goes after Comorado. Comorado tosses Yuta across the ring a couple of times and then is slammed into the corner, and Yuta locks on a guillotine choke. As he is taking down Comorado with strikes, Danielson and Mox cut off the other members and Yuta is able to get the win with the Seat Belt.

Winners: Blackpool Combat Club

Tony Schiavone is in the back with Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm yet again. Toni introduces Ruby Soho as her friend. I guess we’ll get a tag team match with them, and Ruby gets in a few verbal shots.

Tony is with Jurassic Express and Jungle Boy says he shouldn't have lost. Christian Cage says he doesn’t sound like a sore loser, he just sounds like a loser and he needs to move on from it. Cage tosses out a challenge, and Team Tax comes out to accept. They keep teasing that Cage will turn on them at some point, and I like the slow burn.

Lance Archer comes to the ring and MJF is in the skybox with a nice little slam on Philly and introduces Wardlow.

Wardlow vs Lance Archer

HOSS FIGHT!!

Wardlow coming out in cuffs with security is a great presentation.

Archer cannonballs out of the ring onto Wardlow before the bell rings. Wardlow is able to get a Hurricanrana. Archer goes for a choke slam and Wardlow is able to pulls Archer’s hand off of him. They clothesline each other and then start throwing hands. Archer gets in his walking the top rope bit. Archer goes for the choke slam again and gets it this time for a two count.

Archer puts Wardlow on the top for the black out. Archer goes for the pin, and Wardlow reverses to the crucifix for a two. They fight to the top and Wardlow is able to nail a series of head butts to knock Archer down, and then hits a senton onto Archer for a two count. It’s not time for the power bomb symphony with 4 power bombs and the pin.

Winner: Wardlow

Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus and Christian Cage are backstage.  Cage talks about last week being a teachable moment.  Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs interrupt. They want a title shot.

The Jericho Appreciation Society comes to the ring for a sit down with Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz. My on-going prediction, once Fozzy’s new album comes out, Jericho will get new entrance music. “Sports entertainers are best for business” “AEW Galaxy” I don’t mind stuff like this, because it’s how Jericho and his team are making themselves heels for this crowd.

Serena Deeb vs Hikaru Shida in a Philly street fight

Serena gets in the first strike, but Shida is able to get a collusion strike. She then hits a missile drop kick from the top and then go to the floor. Shida gets a cahir and sets up for chair assisted launch, but Deeb rolls into the ring. Shida drapes Deeb across the top and gets a rising knee strike. As they go to the outside, Deeb nails Shida in the knee as Shide tries for the knee strike. They go to the ring as we go picture in picture.

When they return to full screen, Deeb is sitting in a chair as Shida tries to get up. Deeb goes to drop Shida on the chair, but Shida reverses it and sends Deeb face first into the chair. Deeb rolls to the floor and gets the bag filled with powder. Glad it’s not thumbtacks. She tosses the powder into Shida’s eyes and then goes after her with the kendo stick. Shida tries for the detox. But Shida reverse it for the back body drop. Shida grabs a kendo stick and starts swinging wildly. Shida is able to wash out her eyes with a water bottle at ringside.

Shida then start wailing on Deeb with the kendo stick. She then switches to knee strikes to Deeb’s head. Deeb grabs a chair and is able to block Shida’s Katana strike. Deeb wraps the chair around Shida’s leg, but Shida is able and nails Deeb with the chair. Shida hits an avalanche falcon arrow for a two count. She then goes after Deeb with the kendo stick again. Deeb is able to counter Shida for a two count. Deeb is able to escape a slam and hits thje detox on a chair, and Shida kicks out at two.

Deeb gets the serenity lock and Shida goes to the rope, but there are no ropes breaks in the street fight. Deeb slams Shida’s knee into the mat and then puts on a Texas cloverleaf and Shida has to tap out.

Winner: Serena Deeb

We see Thunder Rodsa was watching the match in the back.

Lexie is with MJF and Shawn Spears. MJF yells at Lexie to get out of his frame, and he says he has a plan. He calls someone called “big Man and offers 6 figures for one match. He hints that it will be W. Morrissey, the former Big Cass.

Ortiz still has the shoes he stole last week.

Jericho demands an apology for being banned from the arena last week. Eddie is packing the whole time Jericho is talking. Santana and Ortiz get in some comedy as they flip Jericho off as they are findign their “apologize”. Eddie stops the talk and says they need to fight. Jericho says they7 are putting a hit on on them. Eddie asks if he knows what a hit means. He gets right in Jericho’s face and lets him know he’s not ready to do what it takes.

Eddie makes EVERY one of these segments worth watching since you have no idea what he will do next.

We get a taped promo from Sammy Guevara, and he’s gone back to the heel he was under Jericho.

We then have the House of Black who have already beaten Fuego Del Sol and left him in the ring in a spotlight. They go to remove his mask, and they are interrupted by Penta, Pac and in the ring dressed as Penta’s assistant Alex is Rey Fenix!

They drive off the House of Black.

Tony is in the back with Swerve Strickland and Darby Allin will face ach other in a qualifying match. Swerve says they aren't friends and he is looking forward to turning Rampage into Swerve’s house. Darby says that AEW is his house and he will show why the tournament is Darby’s tournament.

Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish, Adam Cole and the Young Bucks vs Dante Martin, Lee Jounson, Brock Anderson and the Varsity Blondes

Keeping my eye out for Emo Julia Hart. Get it? Eye out. Never mind.

I feel bad for Anthony for having to do play by play for this match since it’s just going to be a high spot car crash of a match. They say that the Bucks are feeling down due to their recent losses. We are also told that Darius Martin is injured again, which has to suck for him.

Brock Anderson gets the be the man in peril during the picture in picture. The Bucks are also in their Emo gear, not in the stuff that looks like a 16 thousand color palette threw up on their tights.

Brock gets the tag right before we go back to full picture. Lee Johnson takes a four wayBTE trigger and the boom knee from Adam Cole for the pin.

Winners: Young Bucks, reDRagon, and Adam Cole

They now all have Undisputed Elite shirts.

We go to the back when the JAS have taken out Satanist and Ortiz and they toss a fireball into the eye of Eddie Kingston.

We get a preview of the matches on Rampage and next week’s Dynamite.

Sammy Guevara (TNT Champion) vs Scorpio Sky in a ladder match

Scorpio meets Sammy on the ramp and throws hands. Sky is just brutal with those strikes and looks like a champ as he batters Sammy. Sammy gets tossed into the barricade and then runs up the ramp to grab the ladder. Sammy tries for the baseball slide into the ladder, and Sky just lifts it and then slam Sammy with it. Sky puts the ladder in the ring and then tries for a suplex on the ramp, but Sammy reverses it and suplexes Sky.

Sammy then tosses Sky into the barricade and goes to the ring. He sets up the ladder and Sky gets to the ring and pulls him down. Sammy catapults Sky onto the ladder and Sky starts climbing, but Sammy pulls him down. Sammy climbs the ladder, but it’s too far away from the ladder. Sammy tries for a twisting leap onto Sky but completely misses him as we go picture in picture.

When they return to full screen, a second ladder is set up and Sky starts up as Sammy gets on a second shorter ladder. Sammy leaps at Sky and Sky catches him for a cutter.

I think Sammy has been watching Darby Allin and says he wants a career shorter than him.

Sky pulls out a ladder wrapped in barbed wire and the crowd chants ECW. Sammy is able to hit s standing Spanish Fly on Sky into the ladder. Dan Lambert comes in to check on Sky and Sammy grabs him. Tay Conti nails Dan with a kick to the Yam Bag, and Paige Vanzant comes in to brawl with her. Sammy and Tay are both down in opposite corners. Sammy and Tay are able to get kicks on both Sky and Paige and that gives Sammy and Tay time for a kiss.

Sammy leans the barbed wire ladder on the ropes, and Sammy is hit with a flat liner by Sky. Sky starts to go up an Tay leaps on his back. Sammy tries to climb and Paige leaps on his back. They get to the top and after Tay and Paige attack each other and then then fall to the mat and keep fighting.

Sammy and Sky fight at the top of the ladder and Sammy is able to knock Sky down with a punch. Sammy grabs the belt and Sky dumps him off the ladder onto the barbed wire ladder. Sky climbs to the top. Sammy leaps onto the ladder and they brawl. Sky knocks Sammy down and then grabs the ladder.

Winner and NEW TNT Champion: Scorpio Sky
