MUSTAFA ALI RETURNS

 

Months after publicly requesting his release from World Wrestling Entertainment on social media, Mustafa Ali officially returned to WWE during tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw.

A well respected and well rounded wrestler, Ali was signed after competing in the WWE Cruiserweight Classic back in 2016.  After time on WWE's now-defunct 205 Live series, he was drafted to the Smackdown brand before being bounced over to Raw.  He was turned heel to be revealed as the leader of Retribution, but despite some great early mic and in-ring work from Ali, the entire story quickly petered out. 

After a short feud with Ricochet, he was put into a program where he wrestled against, then teamed with Mansoor before turning on him and losing to Mansoor in a grudge match at the 2021 Crown Jewel PPV in Saudi Arabia.  He made two more appearances for the company in October 2021 and since December 2021, had been calling for his contractual release from the company.  

Obviously, the two sides settled their issues, leading to Ali's surprise return on Raw.
