4/19 YOUNG ROCK RECAP

Downtown Bruno arrives and tells Ata about a call from the principal. At family dinner with Andre, Ata explains all the “shenanigans” Dewey is getting into. Rocky says that Dewey is probably just turning heel for a couple weeks and he’ll snap out of it. Ata is afraid that because his Dad is on tv, and because of his size he might start to bully the other kids. Andre says knows what this is like and he’ll talk with him. 

Lia calls her assistant Bob and we learn that he appears to be up to some jury tampering as we get a montage set to “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) by Eurythmics, a few jurors & the judge receive gifts of mangoes. She gets called out for it in court and he scolds her. Her behavior ends up getting the jury sequestered which makes them all unhappy.

Andre shows up to take Dewey fishing. 

Back at the trial things are not going well. All of the defense witnesses say she is a nice lady who occasionally threatens them with being slapped. Junkyard Dog & King Kong Bundy testify. She tries to change her image by knitting in court.

While fishing with Andre, Dewey confides he is acting up in school because he is trying to get the attention of a girl he likes in class. He didn’t want to tell his parents.

At home Rocky gets a call from a steak wrap eating Vince McMahon. Rocky tries to pitch being a singles act but Vince shoots it down and describes his early idea for WrestleMania.

Back at the trial we see video footage of her threatening Greg Yao but she says it’s just the way she talks. 

Andre is confused as what to do with Dewey, he expected to have an anti-bullying conversation and not one about love. Dewey says it’s ok, they can just fish. Andre tells Dewey to tell him about her. Dewey does them asks how does he get her to like him. Andre says if she does she does, if not “ce la vie”. Dewey asks Andre if he was ever in love: Andre talks about a woman he liked once but it didn’t work out. They catch a fish. Andre gives is a kiss and releases it. He tells Dewey love is the same. If you love someone set them free and if it’s meant to be they’ll come back. 

Randall is fascinated that Andre taught The Rock about love. 

At school Dewey let’s Debbie know he like likes her. She says she only normal likes him. He kisses his hand, touches her head and says I release you. Another girl comes up and asks what was that. Debbie says “I think Dewey Johnson just respected me”. The other girl wonders if it will catch on. It doesn’t as Julien Echo runs up behind them and pulls their hair and calls them fart ponies. 

Lia is at home discouraged and packing for prison. She tells Ata she wants her to take over the business full time. Ata tells her she just needs to convince the jury her story is real, just like wrestling.

The Rock gets a call from Casey. At the rally Gen. Jackson and the Governor, who are old Tae Kwon Do rivals had an impromptu match and caused a scene doing more harm to the campaign.

Young Rock airs Tuesdays on NBC or On Demand.
