IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2022-04-14 22:00:00

Welcome to the Impact Wrestling on AXS report.

Impact is at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

We see all the recent happenings that have transpired with Moose and Josh Alexander.

W. Morrisey was in the ring and cut a promo, saying that it was good to be back in this arena and on his own terms.  The last time he was here, he was not in control and ended up in an ambulance at the lowest point of his life.  Now, he's back clean, sober and in the best shape of his life.  He said that for the first time in his 33 years, he can admit that he's not alone and thanked the fans for showing him support.  He was given a second chance.  He was given opportunities and he's going to take full advantage of every single one of them.

Brian Myers came out.    He said Morrisey was handed a golden opportunity for a career that the others in the back could only dream of.  He said Morrisey pissed it all away for a good time.  Myers said the fans should feel sorry for Myers, because Morrisey is trying to sabotage his announcing career.  He warned Morrisey that history will repeat itself and Morrisey will end up half-dead on the floor of this arena if he messes with Myers again.

Morrisey chased down Myers, who failed to escape into the crowd.  Morrisey beat him into the ring apron and set up a table at ringside.  He called for the BQE but Chelsea Green ran down, distracting him long enough for Matt Cardona to blast him with the Digital Media Championship belt.   They put Morrisey through a table on the floor.

Tom Hanifan and Matt Rehwoldt ran down the Rebellion PPV lineup next week.

Ring of Honor & AAA Reina de Reinas Champion Deonna Purrazzo vs. Willow Nightingale

Purrazzo took the fight to Willow, driving her into the corner and beating her with chops and stomps.  Willow was whipped out of the corWcartwheel to reverse her momentum and snapped a superplex for a close two count.

After a commercial, Purrazzo was relentless beating down Nightingale.  They showed she had been run into the buckles during the commercial.  Willow kept kicking out and firing back but Purrazzo drilled her hard with a big forearm.  Willow nailed a bulldog for a two count.  They battered each other.  Willow nailed a Pounce and then a cannonball in the corner, scoring another close two count.  She tried for a DVDR but Purrazzo escaped and nailed a boot to the face, then a standing moonsault for a two count.

Nightingale escaped and they grappled with reversals.  Willow nailed the DVDR and scored a near fall.  Purrazzo drilled her but failed with The Queens' Gambit, getting backdropped over.  Willow came off the ropes but was snatched in an armbar and transitioned into The Venus di Milo.

Your winner and still champion, Deonna Purrazzo!

They showed footage of Mickie James and Nick Aldis defeating the Cardonas at Multiverse of Matches.  Gia Miller interviewed Mickie, who said this isn't over.  She knocked Green, who showed up.  They started brawling.  Matt Cardona held her for Green to hit.  Myers handed her an object and she KO'd Mickie with it.  The trio stood over the beaten James.

Gia Miller interviewed Tasha Steelz about Rosemary.  She said they have a lot of history and she's not afraid of the realm.  She knows the mind games are played.  Rosemary took her Knockouts Tag Team titles but what a difference a year makes, as she's the top of the mountain as the Knockouts Champion.  She's not afraid.  Rosemary and Decay magically appeared on the screens behind them and said they know her well and reminded her that she will decay.  Savannah Evans and Steelz were obviously taken aback by this.

ROH Champion Jonathan Gresham vs. Rocky Romero

Some really nice back and forth friendly wrestling early. Gresham was in control as they went to commercial.  When they returned, Eddie Edwards was watching on a monitor backstage.  Romero took control and began working on Gresham's arm while also peppering him with hard chops.  They battled back and forth with chops.

Romero kicked away at Gresham and kicked him in the corner.  He whipped Gresham into the corner but Gresham went up and over.  Romero went for the forever clotheslines but Gresham fired back with chops until Gresham was drilled with a hard clothesline that sent Gresham inside out.  The referee began counting them both down but Romero returned to his feet.   He controlled Gresham and went for Sliced Bread #2 but the ROH Champion escaped.

Gresham avoided an enziguiri but was caught with another kick, knocked to the floor.  Romero drilled him and returned Gresham to the ring, hitting a sliced bread #2 for a two count.  Gresham fired back with kicks and a quebrada.  He nailed a tope suicida to the outside and rolled up Romero with a pinfall combination for the pin.

Your winner and still ROH Champion, Jonathan Gresham!

The Code of Honor is enforced.

They aired a video feature on Josh Alexander leading into Rebellion.

Backstage, Speedball Mike Bailey is approached by Ace Austin.  Madman Fulton's ankle was broken and he won't make it to Rebellion, so it's just them.  Bailey corrected it's them and Trey.  Ace told him that you know what I mean and Bailey said he knows exactly what Ace means and walked off.

Steve Maclin vs. Alex Shelley with Chris Sabin

Some really damn good wrestling here early on.  They battle to the outside and back in.  Maclin sends Shelley to the floor and hits a tope suicida.  Maclin dumped him back inside and nailed an Olympic Slam with authority.  Shelley fires back with chops and an inverted atomic drop.  Maclin nailed a backbreaker and scored a two count.  Shelley avoided a charge in the corner but was tied up in the corner.  Maclin speared him in the corner for a close two count.  Shelley nailed a big clothesine and psyched himself up to nail a big knee strike and a superkick.  Shelley nailed Sliced Bread #2 but Maclin kicked out at the last second.   They battled back to the outside, where Shelley got the better of him.  Back in the ring, Maclin went to use the ropes for leverage on the pinfall but Chris Sabin shoved them off.  Maclin turned to Sabin but was nailed by Shelley with Shellshock for the pin.

Your winner, Alex Shelley!

At a hotel somewhere, Madison Rayne encountered Gisele Shaw.  She told Rayne she was sorry that she couldn't keep Kaleb.  Madison said they fired Kaleb.  She said The Influence will be fine without him.  Shaw said, "We'll see about that" and walked off.

They aired a long piece on Impact Champion Moose.

Honor No More were in the ring.  Eddie Edwards asked if you can feel the history in this building?  He said this is where ECW was born.  Well, not really.  He said this was the city that birthed Ring of Honor.  He pointed out the Philadelphia fans, noting some say they are the most passionate fans in all of professional wrestling, but Honor No More knows that's not the truth.  They know for a fact Philly are the most fickle fans in all of pro wrestling.  They don't care about anything but getting their shiny new toy.  Mike Bennett tried to talk but was booed out of the place.  Bennett said this place was the birthplace of Mike Bennett.  He made his ROH debut here.  Matt Taven said that the fans were lemmings who turned on them but they will never turn on each other.  Taven said that he was the one who carried the company while management made bad decision after bad decision.  He said he can hear his fans here and he's not going anywhere.  Honor No More isn't a trend.

Bullet Club came out.

Jay White said they did a lot of talking, and questioned their claim of being the best.  They know, Honor No More knows and Philadelphia knows none of that is true.  Philly and the world knows Bullet Club is best.  They said they're in Bullet Club's house.  Karl Anderson hit on Maria.  He said Honor no More are the old toys no one wants to play with anymore but Bullet Club are the coolest toys in the toy box.  They are too sweet.  They kept going back and forth.  Chris Bey asked if they wanted to fight about it.  Everyone squared up and Bullet Club came towards the ring.    They all started brawling.  They battled to the outside, where PCO hit a big dive to the floor, wiping everyone out.

Jonah's music hit and out he came.

PCO vs. Jonah

They brawled in the ring and to the outside.  Jonah nailed him with a headbutt.  He charged but PCO moved, leaving Jonah to crash into the ring post.  PCO nailed a neckbreaker on the floor.  PCO stopped and taped up his neck with duct tape but Jonah snatched him and throttled him into the guard rail.  Jonah leapt off the apron with a shoulder block to the floor.

After a commercial, PCO was back in the ring, being beaten in the corner.  Jonah set up and drilled him with a bucklebomb but PCO exploded out with a lariat.  The referee counted them down but they fought to their feet, battering each other back and forth.    Jonah caught PCO and nailed a tombstone piledriver, but PCO kicked out at the one point.

Jonah was shocked.  PCO caught him with a series of strikes and a DDT.  PCO nailed a flying bodypress off the top for a two count.  He went back to the ropes and dropped a headbutt off the center turnbuckle.

PCO nailed a second and then returned again to the top.for a third but Jonah kicked up at two.    Jonah escaped a PCO moonsault.  Jonah moved to the apron outside.  PCO went for the swanton to the outside but again Jonah moved out of the way.  Jonah tossed him into the guard rail, then the ring post and scored the pin with the top rope splash.

Your winner, Jonah!

PCO sat up after the pinfall so Jonah attacked him and went to the floor to get a chair.  PCO again sat up.  Jonah drilled him with the chair over and over.  PCO went to sit up.  Jonah smashed him with the chair and placed it atop of him, then hit another top rope splash, leaving PCO laying.

Jonah walked out as the announcers noted he was going to be a threat to Tomohiro Ishii at Rebellion.
