It is Wednesday and AEW is in New Orleans LA at the Uno Lakefront Arena. Our commentary team is Jim Ross, Excalibur, and Tony Schiavone.

CM Punk vs Penta Oscuro

Penta has a new entrance for his more horror based persona. Punk makes sure that Penta doesn’t bring the shovel into the ring. Crowd is chanting pretty loud for Penta. The Punk chants take a bit to catch up.

Penta does his hand gestures and Punk retaliates with kicks and then they start chapping. Punk hits an arm drag off the ropes and goes right for a cover and gets a two count. Punk goes for the GTS early, but Penta reverses and grabs an ankle lock. They go to the buckle. And Punk gets the rising knee strike and a mocks Penta’s hand gestures. Penta gets a cling blade and a two count.

This crowd is super hot, cheering for EVERYTHING. Penta tosses Punk out of the ring and takes too long to leap onto Punk, so when he leaps out, Punk charges into the ring and then leaps onto him as we go picture in picture. Punk and Penta are working this match smart. Not doing a lot since the crowd goes nuts for everything. It’s not like they are working in slow motion, but they give each move a chance for the crowd to react and then start to come down before the next one. Punk’s experience is a big help here.

When we return to full screen, Punk is draped across the top turnbuckle and Penta is beating him down. They move to fight on the top and Punk slips off the top rope and Penta leaps down. After the ref checks on Punk, Penta starts working him over. Penta tries to Irish Whip Punk across the ring and Punk collapses part way across. They go to the top and Punk hits a Hurricanrana. Punk hits another rising knee strike and sets up for the GTS. Penta escapes with knee and elbow strikes. Punk reverses a wrist lock and slaps on the Anaconda Vice, broken by the ropes by Penta.

They slowly get up and fight on the apron. They both try for pile drivers on the apron, but both escape. Penta is kicked back into the ring. Punk springboards into Penta and hits another rising knee strike. Punk calls for the GTS after a short arm clothesline. Punk goes for the GTS and Penta blocks the move and goes for the Fear Factor which Punk blocks. Penta gets Punk on the mat and they trade quick roll ups.

Penta leaps off the ropes into Punk’s arms, and Punk hits the GTS and covers for a three count.

Winner: CM Punk

 

We go to a taped segment of Jericho’s team showing up on a private plane. Jericho is interrupted by Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz, who have beat down 2.0 and take off.

Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus (AEW Tag Team Champions) vs reDRagon

JB takes down Fish and then hits a pair of quick drop kicks on Fish. Fish takes down JB in his corner and Kyle gets tagged in. Luchasaurus gets a blind tag and he takes over, beating down Kyle in the corner. Luchasaurus gets tripped up in the ropes and Fish is tagged in, and hits a dragon screw in the ring and then on the floor.

They go into the ring and Kyle locks on a leg submission. They go into the ropes and Fish tags in and keeps Luchasaurus in their corner. Luchasaurus is able to get free and tag in JB. JB is able to take both members of reDRagon down. JB starts to go for a tope, but reDRagon gets out of the way, allowed Luchasaurus to leap on to them. As they recover JB leaps onto Fish. JB goes to get into the ring and Fish grabs his boot, allowing Kyle to hit a Dragon Screw on JB into the ropes. We go to picture i9n picture as JB gets popped again.

When they return to full screen, JB is able to escape and tag in Luchasaurus who cleans house. JR keeps calling Luchasaurus Lizard Man.

Luchasaurus ends the sequence with a double choke slam and then a standing moonsault for a two count on Kyle. Fish kicks JB down off the apron, and then he runs to the other side to tag in. They attack Luchasaurus in his corner, and JB is able to record, tag in and JB leaps onto Fish being held by Luchasaurus for a two count.

Kyle gets a blind tag and hits a s Butterfly suplex on JB, then a double team suplex. Kyle locks on the cross arm breaker. JB is able to get a rope break. They take JB to the reDRagon corner and they work him to the top. As Kyle and JB fight on the top, Fish starts to interfere but Luchasaurus stomps in to interfere.

Kyle locks Luchasaurus in a front chancery and Fish goes to the top with JB. Fish launches JB and himself over Luchasaurus and covers for a two when Luchasaurus lands on them. Kyle hits a series of strikes on Luchasaurus and then it become everyone gets to take down someone on the other team.

JB and Luchasaurus hit the Thoracic Express for the three count.

Winner and still Champions: Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus

Kyle attacks after the match with a chair. As they go up the ramp, FTR comes out and gets in reDRagon’s face.

We then get the Black Pool Combat Club in the back, now with Wheeler Yuta. They will be taking on the Gunn Club and they will take them out.

In the back, Tony Schiavone is with Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm, who will be facing each other in the Owen Hart Tournament. Jaime mocks here and Toni just smiles and leaves.

MJF vs Captain Shawn Dean

Sign of the night: MJF puts tomatoes in his Gumbo.

Dean is already in the ring.

MJF has trouble taking off his jacket and the announcers get to mock him for it. MJF calls Spears over to help. As Dean is being yelled at by Spears, MJF attacks him from behidn and then takes off his jacket with no problems. As MJF is celebrating, we get the big screen showing that security has been beaten up and the Camera is patrolling. MJF goes back to work on Dean as the crowd chants We Want Wardlow.

MJF celebrates against the rail and Wardlow in a security shirt comes up behind him. Wardlow chases MJF through the ring and to the ramp. Spears whacks Wardlow with a chair to no avail. Security comes running in and Wardlow takes them all out. Eventually about 15 security restrain Wardlow as MJF is counted out. MJF says he will pay the ref three times what Tony Khan is paying him to stop counting and the ref counts 10.

Winner: Captain Shawn Dean

After Wardlow is dragged away, MJF goes into the ring and goes after the ref, but Spears stops him from doing so. In the back, Wardlow is tossing security around until the camera in the back is destroyed.

Wardlow says he will keep doing this until he is released from his contract.

We get a new video from Darby Allin. He calls for a coffin match with Andrade El Idolo.

We come back from commercial to The House of Black threatening Fuego Del Sol. Nice horror images in Malachi Black’s promo, but for Fuego Del Sol? A bit of overkill. Kind of like having Brock Lesnar cut a promo for an upcoming match the Dolph Ziggler.

Jericho Appreciation Society vs Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz

I wonder how long until Fozzy’s new album comes out and Jericho switches entrance music because the crowd still sings it. I do not expect a single wrestling hold.

Ortiz is wearing Parker’s shoes around his neck.

Santana starts with Jericho and Jericho tries to spit at Santana who pokes Jericho in the eye and then beats him down in the corners.

They trade chops and Jericho takes the worst of it.

Santana drops Jericho, pummeling him and everyone else starts fighting around the ring.

Ortiz is tagged in and Eddie standa guard in the ring.

Eddie attacks Garcia outside the ring and Hager gets tagged in

Ortiz chops Hager down, gets a sunset flip for a two count

Garcia gets tagged in and they take Ortiz to the JAS corner and start with quick tags.

Commercial and picture in picture time

When we come back to full screen, Jericho is trading blows with Ortiz

Jericho misses a Lion sault and Ortiz gets to his corner and Eddie gets to clean house.

Eddie tags in Santana who hits the three amigos on Garcia

Santana hits a frog splash for a two count.

Eddie tags in and hits the machine gun chops in the corner

Ortiz tags in and hits the leg drop

Eddie takes out Hager on the outside

Santana and Ortiz go for the street sweeper

Jericho runs in and they throw Garcia into him instead.

Parker and Menard run to ringside to take a tope from Ortiz

Eddie hits an exploder on Garcia

Eddie is hit in the back with a bat and the ref does see it, and Garcia rolls him up for the three count

Winner: Jericho Appreciate Society

It’s time for the post match beat down and the JAS stands tall.

In the back, Alex is with MJF and MJF yells at the crowd and says there is no sympathy for the Devil, and he has Mark Sterling explain that he can put Wardlow in any match he wants. Next week, Wardlow meets the Butcher, who is NOT WEARING HIS MONOCLE!!

Marina Shafir vs Skye Blue

Skye is already in the ring. Never a good sign unless you are going up against MJF. Red Velvet is in the Baddies section.

Shafir takes out Skye Blue with a triangle choke.

Winner: Marina Shafir

Lexi tries to get a word with Hook in the gym and next week is Hook’s first match on Dynamite. Mark Sterling and Tony Nese come in and they berate Hook. He stands up and they leave. Hook tosses his medicine ball, and Danhausen is behind him, catches it and is dropped.

Dan Lambert and the Men of the Year mock Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti. Scorpio Sky says he will beat Sammy at Battle of the Belts.

Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks vs Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee

Ricky is from New Orleans and gets a huge pop.

Swerve and Hobbs start off. Swerve locks on an arm bar and Hobbs tosses him off, taking him down with a shoulder tackle

Hobbs tosses Swerve over his head to his corner.

Swerve tags in and they lock hands as Starks walks the ropes.

They runt he ropes and Starks hits a shoulder tackle and poses

Swerve gets a series of kicks and a head scissors

Lee tags in and Starks dodges Lee’s strikes until he gets caught in the wrong corner

Swerve hold Starks for a chop from Lee and then Swerve stays in

Lee tags in and Hobbs runs in. Both Hobbs and Starks are tossed to the floor.

Swerve leaps off the chest of Lee into Team Taz as we go picture in picture

When we return to full screen, Swerve hits a drop kick from mid air on Hobbs and tags in Lee

Lee takes control of Starks but Hobbs runs into both fo them in the corner.

Lee leaps over a charging Hobbs, making him charge into Starks

Lee tosses both Hobbs and Starks across the ring at the dame time

Swerve is tagged in and Swerve gets a two count

Swerve gets a series of leaping attacks on Starks

Swerve goes for a rolling thunder and Starks spears him. Starks takes out Lee with a low drop kick and then hits a flipping DDT for a two count on Swerve

Swerve and Starks fight in the corner and Lee makes a blind tag.

Swerve tosses Starks into Lee who covers for a two count, broken up by Hobbs

Starks hits a kick and goes for the Rochambeau, but can’t lift Lee

Taz comes to the ring

Starks goes for swinging DDT and Lee grabs him.

Starks is able to get a spear and covers, broken up by a 450 by Swerbve

Lee goes for a charge, and Taz grabs Lee’s boot, allowing Hobbs to hit a spine buster and cover for a three counting

Winners: Team Taz

Excalbur goes down the card for Rampage and Battle of the Belts. Tony starts to interview Thunder Rosa, and Nyla Rose and Vickie show up with a cake. Rose pushes the cake into Nyla face, and when Nyla attacks, she hits Vickie. Rosa and Nyla fight and Rosa is slammed into a wall.

We get a video package for the Texas Death Match between Adam Cole and Adam Page on Friday.

Minoru Suzuki (Ring of Honor TV Champion) vs Samoa Joe

I will not be objective. This is a dream match for me.

They start with chops. They change to forearms and then back to chops. Neither man gives an inch. They keep fighting and Suzuki bends a bit after Joe’s last assault. It become straight stikes and Suzuki is staggered. Joe is then staggered. Joe’s facial e4xpressions are incredible.

Suzuki goes for a shoulder tackle and Joe drives him down with his own. Suzuki locks on a arm bar in the ropes, breaking on four as we go picture in picture.

When they return to full screen, they have STILL be trading blows. Suzuki has locks on an arm bar and is working Joe’s hand in it. And Joe has been abel to reverse it and has a headlock on Suzuki. Suzuki makes it to the ropes for the break.

They go corner to corner and Suzuki is able to take him down with kicks, and covers for a two count. Suzuki yells One More Time and they teade strikes again. These are two brutally tough men. Suzuki puts on a sleepr and Joe is able to pick him up and drop him to break the hold. Jay Lethal is at ring side cheering for Joe with a gift box in his arms.

Suzuki hits a drop kick and then locks on the sleeper. He tries for the Gotch style pile driver and Joe is able to escape. They go to the corner and Joe puts Suzuki up, hits the insigiri. Joe tries to set up for the Muscle Buster, but Suzuki is able to lock on an arm bar. Joe sets up for the muscle buster and gets the three count.

Winner and New Ring of Honor TV champion: Samoa Joe

Lethal opens his present and it’s a middle finger. The lights go out.

The lights come up and Satinum Sing, a basketball player, drops Joe. Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt join in and it’s time for Joe to take a beat down. Sing locks on a two handed claw and then Lethal hits the Lethal Injection.
