It is time for New Japan Pro Wrestling Strong Lone Star Shootout at Wrestlecon in Dallas Texas. The commentary team is Kevin Kelly and Matthew Rehwoldt.

Rocky Romero vs Ren Narita

Ren was formerly Rocky’s student, and Rocky has a new entrance video. They move quickly to mat wrestling with Ren in control first and Rocky in control next. They trade a pair of slap in the middle of the ring and Rocky is able to lock on a one legged crab. Ren makes it to the ropes. They then trade strikes until Ren is able to take over and work him to the corner, when he controls Rocky with kicks. Rocky is able to go up and get a flying bulldog.

Rocky puts Ren on the apron and slowly works him over in the ropes. When Rocky starts to the top, Ren tells him to keep hitting him. Rocky obliges and they trade blows until Rocky hits a knee, goes up and gets a double stomp for a two count. Ren is able to get up and takes Rocky down with a leg lariat. He works over Rocky in the corner and then hits suplexes with two counts. Rocky then gets a series of strikes and twisting bulldog and a two count.

Rocky gets the forever clothesline and Ren tries to stop him, and Rocky runs right through him. Rocky runs into a suplex with a bridge, and Ren holds on for the three count.

After all of the shows I have watched this week so far, this will probably be the first tag team match where people tag in.

They also say that the ring is smaller than the usual New Japan Match

Knight and Mascara run the ropes and Knight gets a two rope arm drag, which Mascara follows with a spinning bulldog and a one count.

They run the ropes again and Garcia tags in as well as Conners, then Yaya tags in and they work the corner.

Yuya hits a nice drop kick to Garcia and then locks on a headlock.

Juice and his team come in and Finley stays in for the two count and the arm bar

Fredricks gets Manifest Destiny and covers Knight for the three and the win.

Fast paced match with a mix of flying and strong style by everyone involved. An example of the New Japan style.

Minoru Suzuki vs. Killer Kross

I saw Suzuki smile as he walked around the ring asking people to clap. I HAD NO IDEA HE COULD SMILE UNLESS HE WAS HURTING SOMEONE.

They slowly lock up with a greco roman knuckle lock. Suzuki goes down first, and when he comes up, he kicks Kross. He locks on a headlock working Kross down. Kross is able to turn it into an arm bar. They break, throw hands and Kross hits a shoulder tackle on Suzuki. Suzuki stays down, rolls to the apron, then captures Kross’s arm around the rope. The fight goes to the floor and Suzuki goes to work.

He locks on an arm bar laying on the apron. They break and then trade blows. Kross is driven head first into the barricade. Suzuki rolls in and goes to the ref. He tells the ref to just stay in the corner. Kross rolls in and Suzuki keeps him down with kicks and then a double arm bar. Suzuki slowly works on a twisted arm bar. Kross rolls into the ropes to break the hold. Suzuki keeps up the attacks with kicks until Kross grabs his leg in the middle of the ring. Kross is able to work over Suzuki in the corner. He suplexes Suzuki over and covers for a two.

Kross calls for a brain buster, and Suzuki locks on an arm bar. Kross gets to the ropes. Suzuki gives taunting kicks and Kross gets to his feet. Suzuki yells at Kross and give a “no” sign with a finger and then they trade slaps.

The crowd lets Kross know that Suzuki is going to kill him and then goes quiet to hear the slaps.

The slaps get faster, become forearms and when Kross runs to the ropes, Suzuki tries to lock on the rear naked choke. Kross breaks free and locks in a sleeper hold. Suzuki works free and punches Kross. Suzuki sets for the Gotch style pile driver. Holds it for nearly 30 seconds and then drops him for the pin and the three count.

Winner: Minoru Suzuki

After the match, Kross is confused by a ringside attendant and locks on an attack with his quickly breaks

Suzuki has a kid come to the stage with him and raises their arms in victory.

Jon Moxley’s theme plays and he comes to the ring. Mox says he would not leave Dallas without getting in a New Japan ring, which brings out the fighting spirit and the best in him. He says that no matter what show you came for, we are all here for our love of Professional Wrestling. He says he has another reason to step into the ring. In a world where you can hide behind your computer screen, your words will have consequences and he may show up and kick your teeth in.

He then puts over his match with Will Ospreay in Chicago on the 16th. The announcers let us know that the show in Chicago is sold out.

Speedball” Mike Bailey vs. “Switchblade” Jay White

They lock up and go to the corners. Bailey goes for a kick and White ducks to the ropes. They lock up again and White takes him over and to the mat. They go to the corner and Bailey is able to get a kick, goes to the top and misses a stomp. White sets for a Blade Runner, but Bailey reverses it, slingshots White from the ropes to the mat for a two. Bailey goes to the apron and kicks White, White catches it and hits the ropes to go to the floor. Bailey leaps from the apron onto White and both men are down on the floor.

It’s time for the main event. Looks like we aren’t getting Alex Coughlin, Fred Rosser, Dylan Kyle Cox vs. Team Filthy (Tom Lawlor, Royce Isaacs, JR Kratos) which I was looking forward to, as this feud has been going for almost two years and is still entertaining.

Chris Dickinson vs. Tomohiro Ishii

They go face to face before the bell. Do I need to say this will be a hoss fight?

They lock up and neither can get an advantage. Chris finally takes Ishii down and works into a cover for a two count. They work to the feet and go into the ropes. When they break, Ishii chops Chris and Chris no sells it. They lock up again and run the ropes, shoulder tackling each other to see who goes down first. Chris was able to drop Ishii with a back elbow.

They chop each other in the middle of the ring. Neither man gives an inch as they keep at it. Chris tosses Ishii into the ropes and takes him down with and covers for a two count. He then chops Ishii in the corner. Chris keeps pummeling Ishii in the corner, bulldogs him to the middle of the ring and kicks him in the back before covering for two. Chris stomps down Ishii in the corner and after a chop, Ishii starts to power up and no sells the chops. Ishii calls for more strikes and steps into them. Ishii walks him to the opposite corner and works him down. He then pummels Chris in the corner.

Ishii is tossed to the corner then comes out and shoulder tackles Chris down. Chris gets a headlock and uses it for head strikes. They return to trading blows in the middle of the ring. Chris grabs an ankle and then hits a German suplex. Chris waits for Ishii to get up and when he does, Chris runs into him in the corner. They go back and forth and Ishii goes for a German, but Chris rolls through, twists around and suplexes Ishii with a brain buster and this powers up Ishii.

They charge each other and both men go down. They are up at the count of seven. Chris is able to get a death valley driver for a two count. Ishii blacks an arm by Chris, Chris blocks an enziguiri. They end up throwing hands again and Chris drops Ishii after Ishii tells him to come on with a head butt.

Ishii is able to clothesline Chris down for a two count. Ishii goes for the brain buster, but Chris hits a knee to get out and hits an insigiri and a brain buster of his own for a two count. Chris tries to power bomb, but Ishii is able to turn it into a back drop. They trade blows and Chris gets a lariat for a two count.

Chris pulls Ishii up and goes for a Razor’s Edge, but Ishii escapes, gets an insigiri and then a sliding lariat for a two count. Ishii is able to get the vertical brain buster and covers for the three count.

Winner Tomohiro Ishii

As Ishii is walking up the ramp, Suzuki comes onto the stage and calls Ishii out. He then goes to the back

A fantastic card that shows the New Japan style and works as an introduction to the New Japan Strong show they run once a week with the U.S. talent.
