WWE presents Night Two of WrestleMania tonight. Here's our take on what will happen.
WWE Champion Brock Lesnar vs. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Dave: There is genuine intrigue here. Who will win? How? Will one man have both belts? The easy way out would be a screwy finish where titles stay put. Then again, if Brock is going to take a break, they could have Roman hold both and appear on both TV shows for a little while. To me, Roman is the best thing going in this company and when he loses, it should be to give someone a rub. Brock doesn't need that so if it's me, Roman goes over.
Mike: The worst thing they can do is some sort of screwy finish where they both retain and I don't see them going to an hour draw. The story is set for Brock to get his revenge, but I feel like it's way too soon for Roman to lose. In a perfect world, The Usos help Roman retain and then The Rock shows up to make the save and tease something for Mania 39.
Richard: Do we get the seven to ten minute Brock sprint or do we get the twenty to thirty minute Roman monologue? Since the Usos are wrestling on Saturday, they should be involved in this match. Does anyone help Brock? Does anyone need to help Brock? Brock has been very good with most of his promos and we finally had a change of pace promo from Roman that made me care a little more about this match. Since we have a madman in charge, what if there is a double pin and they give Roman the WWE Championship and Brock the Universal title to let them switch brands? That won’t happen, will it? Happy Brock has been good, but a pissed off Brock could be better. Roman wins.
Austin Theory vs. Pat McAfee.
Dave: I see Pat winning this one, and surprising some people in the process. NXT watchers know what Pat can do. I would book it so that Theory underestimated the announcer and got caught at the end because of it.
Mike: I will go the other way here. I'd like to see Theory get the win, perhaps because Vince McMahon screwjobs Pat.
Richard: The best thing about this match is that Pat will not be on commentary for it. Theory is one of the wrestlers who should be a face of this company for a long time. That means that McAfee wins because no one, besides us, will remember that Theory lost to an announcer. McAfee had good performances in NXT so it won’t be a fish out of water situation. Does Vince then tell us that Pat is his favorite announcer and he never cared about Theory.
Raw Tag Team Champions RK-Bro vs. American Alpha vs. The Street Profits - Triple Threat Match.
Dave: I don't feel either challenging team has built the momentum to dethrone the champs so I leave the belts where they are.
Mike: Unless there's a turn here by Orton or Riddle, I don't see any title change here.
Richard: I really enjoy all three teams in this match and they have shown that they have great chemistry so whatever time they give this match should be very entertaining. I would love to see Alpha win so Gable can SHOOOOSH the doubters. The Street Profits are a great team as well and I would not be disappointed if they could pull off the victory. While any team winning would be fine with me, I think Orton and Riddle still have more to do. Let them hold the titles a little bit longer and then they can split up and face off at SummerSlam.
WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Queen Zelina & Carmella vs. Naomi & Sasha Banks vs. Liv Morgan & Rhea Ripley vs. Natalya & Shayna Baszler - Fatal Four Way.
Dave: I feel bad for all of these women. They deserve better. Much better. I will go with Naomi and Sasha because WWE loves to tell the story that Sasha will turn on her partner at some point and they have only told it 87 times so far. They need to get to 100.
Mike: I am with Dave 100% here. They have teased Carmella cares less about Zelina and the titles and gets completely distracted. Sasha is obviously loved by management. I'd love to see Liv Morgan finally get a big, deserved win but to me, the champs should retain since it's been all but teased they won't.
Richard: With the impending wedding for Carmella and Corey, I would let them retain just so they can parody the Conti/Guevara stuff in AEW. Carmella and Zelina as a team don’t really work for me. I would love to see Rhea and Liv win but I would rather see Rhea fight for the singles title over being a tag champion. The same applies to Shayna. Naomi and Sasha would be an interesting option just to see if Sasha will turn on Naomi (or vice versa [she could always join the Bloodline]) And with Naomi winning, it can lead to so many more interactions between Naomi and Sonya Deville.
Edge vs. AJ Styles.
Dave: What makes logical sense is that AJ gets revenge on Edge for all of the heinous stuff that he has done to him. That should be the payoff to the story.
Mike: I hope they give this some time as they have really leaned on this to be the "wrestling classic" of the weekend. I expect it will be a lot of fun, but my gut is Edge does something underhanded to cut off Styles and score the pinfall.
Richard: If Edge wanted AJ to be at his best for their match, why did Edge give him two Conchairtos? This battle of legends should be a good match as long as it is a wrestling match and not a guy in blue light trying to prove that he is an evil person. AJ should win this match and then he moves on to be the top contender on the Raw brand for whoever wins the MOST STUPENDOUS MAIN EVENT IN THE HISTORY OF STUPENDOCITY.
Johnny Knoxville vs. Sami Zayn - Anything Goes.
Dave: Knoxville probably wins so if that is what happens, I hope they at least make it because Sami screws up and costs himself the match.
Mike: There is no way Johnny Knoxville is coming in to lose to Zayn. That's not the Wrestlemania moment that WWE envisions.
Richard: The baseline for this match is Bad Bunny’s performance at last year’s Mania. I don’t know if Knoxville will get there, but I think he could come close. Knoxville will take whatever punishment he needs to take from Zayn. Anything Goes means that the other Jackasses can get involved in the match to help him win. Knoxville pins Zayn and Zayn goes almost as crazy as Seth Rollins.
Bobby Lashley vs. Omos.
Dave: This match is so random, and last minute. There is no world where Lashley should lose to Omos, so I guess that means he will lose to Omos.
Mike: There is no reason to care about this and it's a complete disservice to each competitor. My hope is they just do a DDQ or something and we move on.
Richard: Lashley must be so happy that he is healthy enough to be on Wrestlemania but to be thrown into a match six days before the show? Omos is big and that is a three letter word that Vince loves. Lashley will do whatever it takes to make Omos look good in the match. What is next for both men is a mystery.
