WWE NXT presents Stand and Deliver this afternoon from Dallas, Texas. Here is our take on what we think will happen.
NXT Men’s Champion Dolph Ziggler vs Bron Breakker
Dave: To me, the whole reason to put the Title on Ziggler is so that Breakker could win it back on the biggest weekend of the year.
Mike: The Dolph Ziggler excursion to NXT has been pretty solid and fun but the entire reason for him to be here is to make people. I expect Bron will have a big win with Ziggler carrying him and making him look like a beast.
Richard: I thought the video features from Breakker and Ziggler on this week’s show did a good job to build this match. Ziggler is treating this like a side project away from Raw while being the reason why the title means something as he does the ‘national’ (both WWE related) interviews and Breakker is the ‘local guy’. Breakker talks about how he cares about the brand, something completely different than the early days of NXT Rainbow when it was teasing a Millionaire’s Club/New Blood concept that led into War Games. Breakker is fighting for the honor of the brand and he will have a couple of Hall of Famers in his corner (in spirit, if not physically). Will Uncle Scott rekindle his issues with Roode from their days in TNA? Do they give the title back to Breakker or does Ziggler retain until he faces the person they want to give the title to next? I think Breakker wins the title back.
NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose vs Cora Jade vs Kay Lee Ray vs Io Shirai
Dave: If it's me, I put it on Kay Lee because she is awesome. But this isn't my NXT anymore so I think Mandy ends up retatining.
Mike: I feel like Ray and Io were added to make sure the match stays strong from an in-ring standpoint but I don't envision either of them walking out with the title. They've been building to a big Jade victory and it would make sense to do it here, but I don't think Mandy should be dropping the belt.
Richard: Were Io and Kay Lee added to this match to make it feel like a ‘main event’ level match? Mandy has done a decent job as champion and Cora Jade is an up and coming talent, but is she someone the division should be built around? I see a lot of AJ Lee in Cora’s character and look, but I think she needs some time before she should be the champion. I think Kay Lee and Io will add a lot to the wrestling in this match, but in the end they will neutralize each other and they will not factor into the finish of the match. I don’t know if Jacy and Gigi will get involved, but I think Mandy retains by pinning Cora. This could lead to a singles match between Mandy and Cora when Cora says that she deserves a one on one match and then they can give her the title, in a few months.
NXT Men’s Tag Team Champions Imperium vs MSK vs The Creed Brothers
Dave: Since the change over, it just seems like The Creeds fit more in with what they are doing now. So, I see them coming out with the belts.
Mike: It's time to go with The Creeds as they are ready and deserve the spotlight. I think this could be one of the best things on the show.
Richard: Will we finally find out who attacked the Creeds to keep them from their original title match or will we wait until after Stand and Deliver like we were teased on this week’s show? MSK had their chance and could not beat Imperium, but for some reason, they are in this match. Did MSK attack the Creeds or was it another team that we have not seen yet? I am a big fan of Imperium and I think that Aichner and Barthel have shown more during this title reign than any other time on the brand. The Creeds are inexperienced, but does that mean they will not win this match? I think we will see new champions and then their attacks will interrupt their celebration on Tuesday night. Bivens gets gold.
NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes vs Solo Sikoa vs Santos Escobar vs Grayson Waller vs Cameron Grimes in a Ladder Match
Dave: If it's me, I tell a nice story and have Grimes come out with the belt.
Mike: They've built Grimes up as the sympathetic favorite but man, this is a strong field of competition. I'd have it appear Grimes is about win and have Hayes wipe him out and retain the title.
Richard: The prevailing stories of this match are Hayes trying to retain the title the same way that he did and Cameron Grimes winning the title to uphold a promise he made to his father. I don’t see Solo Sikoa winning this match, but with a strong performance, he is setting himself up for a strong run after Saturday. Escobar does not need the title and Legado is losing some prestige as an act. Waller has talked a big game and has appeared on Raw so a victory for him could mean a lot for the social media that he thinks is more important than wins and losses. I think Grimes wins the title to make his father proud.
Gunther vs LA Knight
Dave: Gunther SHOULD win this one fairly easily but NXT isn't what it used to be. HHH would have seen Gunther as gold for his brand. So far, the new team has not (which is baffling to me). I hope Gunther wins. Am I confident? Not at all.
Mike: Gunther should murder him in 30 seconds.
Richard: They have done nothing to make Gunther special since the name change. He does not look as imposing as he used to but he still chops like he did when he was WALTER. If they want to keep Imperium strong, I think Gunther needs to win this match. Knight should move on to Raw or Smackdown. Gunther gets the win.
Tommaso Ciampa vs Tony D’Angelo
Dave: Tony Pots and Pans will hit the How You Doin' and win, even thought that should never be how it's booked. Have I mentioned it's not my NXT anymore?
Mike: Ciampa should get the win. I think this could surprise everyone as D'Angelo is really damn underrated.
Richard: The way that Ciampa’s promos have been for the last few weeks, it would appear that this is the swan song for him on NXT. The problem with this feud is when Tony D’Angelo has to speak because it comes off like a bad parody of Goodfellas. The wrestling for this match should be good. Tony said when he wins, he will be the ‘Don of NXT’. Unless he is going to whack Tommy Rich, no one claims to be the ‘don’ of anything in pro wrestling. D’Angelo wins.
NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions Toxic Attraction vs Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez (on the Kickoff Show)
Dave: I won't even get into why Kai and Raquel are a team again (damn WWE booking). But whatever the case, they shouldn't win the Titles here.
Mike: Toxic Attraction should retain.
Richard: At least the tag team champions get to defend their titles as a result of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Shame that their opponents weren’t even a team when the tournament started. The team reunited after Dakota came to the ring to confront Toxic Attraction for what they did to Dakota’s new best friend and Raquel made the save and they hugged. What about Wendy? On the preview audio, Andrew suggested that this might be the way that Dakota and Raquel go to the main roster. I could see that happening and that as Dakota and Raquel are about to win, they are shocked to see Wendy come out, dressed like a member of Toxic Attraction as our Wendy caterpillar has turned into a Toxic Butterfly. Toxic Attraction retains.
