Welcome to PWInsider.com's Impact Wrestling on AXS TV report!
This week's show is from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA with Matt Rehwoldt and Tom Hanifan on the call.
The show opens with a look at everything that has led Impact to the home of Tony Lukes and the Rocky Statue.
We see Josh Alexander walk in the back door of the Arena and head right to the ring. He said that after Bound for Glory, he thought he knew everything Moose was capable of and he was ready. He can't believe the line Moose crossed last week and that he was stupid enough to do it.
Moose intimidated his wife and his child and there's no going back from that. Moose has pushed him over the edge. Josh says he is more motivated than ever. All he feels as a father and husband is pain and loss. He's going to make sure Moose feels those things at Rebellion on 4/23. He said he's going to take the Impact title from Moose. The Arena chanted "Next World Champ."
Alexander challenges Moose to come step into his home right now. Moose's music hit and out came the Impact Wrestling Champion on the entrance stage. He said that he knows why Alexander is upset - he failed to protect his family. Moose said he's a great human being, so after he beats Alexander, he'll go back to Josh's home and show Josh's son what a true role model is. He won't fail Josh's son like Josh did.
That sparked a brawl. They brawl backstage. Moose is sent into the steel loading dock doors several times. He tried to scramble up stairs to a balcony (which is the area I usually do live coverage from) but Josh follows and tried to throw him off the balcony. A number of stars including Madman Fulton stopped Josh and asked him if he wanted to be arrested.
After a commercial, Scott D'Amore tried to talk some sense into Josh. He said he sent him home to get his emotions in check. Josh said they are in check as long as Moose stays away from his family.
Laredo Kid vs. Speedball Mike Bailey vs. Willie Mack - Winner Advances to Rebellion PPV X-Division Championship Match
All three are in the ring at the same time. Lots of ranas early on. Mack cleared the ring and then dropkicked Bailey. He set up for a dive and hit a flip out of the ring, crushing his opponents on the floor.
After a commercial break, Mack slammed Laredo and scored a two count. Bailey returned to the ring and chopped Mack, who responded and wiped him out with several hard chops. Bailed laid out Mack and then hit a dive to the outside on Laredo. Mack came back to drill Bailey with a kick. Laredo sent him to the floor and hit an awesome springboard twisting dive that had 10,000 corkscrew rotations. That was damn awesome.
Kid brought Bailey back in the ring and nailed a twisting superplex. Laredo nailed a frog splash for a close two count. Bailey gained control. He went for a bodypress off the ropes but Mack rolled through and nailed a Samoan Drop. He hit a standing moonsault for the pin but Laredo came off the ropes to break up the attempt. Laredo nailed a charging forearm in the corner. He went for a rana but was caught and drilled with a Razor's Edge. The crowd popped for that. Mack went for the cover but it was broken up by Bailey.
Bailey drilled Mack with a hard kick to the chest but was rolled up. They went into a series of near falls. Mack missed a charge in the corner but backdropped Laredo over the top to the floor. Mack was drilled and hit with a shooting star press for the pin by Bailey.
Your winner, advancing, Mike Bailey!
Bullet Club promo. Everyone saw what happened last week. Jay White broke up the pin but the officials have it out for White and Bullet Club. White said that if he knows The Motor City Machine Guns, he knows they know they didn't really win and that they can't be happy about it. So, they will have a rematch next week. Karl Anderson said they will bring back the Tag Team titles tonight in the Lumberjack match. Chris Bey and Jay White said they have their backs in the match tonight. Gallows said there's a lot of history in this building tonight and they'll make more history tonight when they take the titles back.
They showed the return of Shera as he defeated Crazzy Steve earlier tonight.
Raj Singh and Shera did a promo backstage. Singh said Bhuphinder had his chance but now it's too late. Shera said he's back.
Steve Maclin vs. Heath Miller with Rhino
They locked up with Maclin getting the early advantage. Heath was sent into the ropes but ate a hard knee in the ropes. Maclin chopped him hard. Heath came back with a clothesline and an inverted atomic drop. He nailed a second atomic drop, propelling Maclin through the ropes to the floor. Heath brawled with him on the floor and sent him into the apron, smashing his face.
Heath was sent into the ring. Rhino approached Maclin, who ran away, right into the ring steps. Maclin grabbed his knee. The referee was checking on Heath and thought Rhino had attacked Maclin and ejected him. As Heath protested, Maclin attacked him. Heath sent him into the barricade and peppered him with big right hands. Back in the ring, Maclin cut him off and nailed a big over the knee backbreaker. He stomped away on Heath with kneedrops and stomps.
Heath was tied to the tree of woe and drilled with a shoulderblock while upside down. Maclin covered Heath for a two count. Maclin went to the ropes and said "ECW SUCKS" before diving off, but that hesitation to screw with the fans allowed Heath to recover enough to kick him in mid-air. Heath lined up a number of offensive maneuvers, climaxing with a DDT but Maclin kicked up and rolled towards the ropes. Heath went after him but Maclin took him down and used the ropes for leverage to score the pin.
Your winner, Steve Maclin.
Rhino hit the ring and gored Maclin, who didn't see it coming.
They did the latest edition of All About Me with Tenille Dashwood and Kaleb with A K. Kaleb is the host, so he gets to "interview" Tenille. He wanted to know where she and Madison would go on their first photo shoot. She told him to ask what she was thinking. She wondered where his loyalty lies with The Influence or The IInspiration. He was all flustered about this and said he slid them the titles and they ended up winning the title. She began haranguing him but his neck hurt and he said he needed to go see Dr. Ross. He ran out of the room and right into an edition of Locker Room Talk with Madison Rayne. Johnny Swinger was with her. Tenille joined them and they cornered him. They wanted to know who he was loyal to - The Influence or The IInspiration. He said he doesn't know why anyone would question him and he said obviously The Influence. They wanted him to take a lie detector test. He said his neck was hurting him and he ran off.
Jonah was walking the streets of South Philly (across the street from the Arena), cutting a promo on his match with Tomohiro Ishii at Rebellion. OH MAN. Jonah said he broke the myth of PCO and will do it again. He said he's no myth is going to take out Ishii.
Lumberjack Match: Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions Violent by Design vs. The Good Brothers.
It quickly turned into everyone fighting. Karl Anderson got tossed out and was tossed back in. The two teams battled. Young and Doering were tossed over the top. The Lumberjacks descended upon them and threw them back in the ring.
Anderson worked over Young and sent him into the corner, where he flipped up and over. Anderson followed up with a spinebuster for a two count. Eric Young was worked over for a long period of time but held on and kept kicking out. The Good Brothers nailed an inverted 3D but Doering broke up the pinfall. That allowed Young to tag out. Anderson was trapped in VBD's corner and beaten.
The referee was distracted, allowing the OGK to hit the ring. Mike Bennett nailed a low blow on Anderson and Taven hit the Climax, setting up Young scoring the pin.
Your winners and still Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions, Violent by Design!
Backstage, Gia Miller asked Tasha Steelz if she would be leaving Savannah Evans in the back. Steelz said that Mickie James may have told Chelsea Green to stay in the back but none of that has to do with Steelz and the title. Steelz said that being the fighting champion she is, she told Savannah to take a break tonight. She's going to take care of Mickie herself tonight.
Eddie Edwards vs. Rocky Romero
The crowd chanted for Rocky but some chanted back for Eddie. Romero offered a handshake but Edwards tried to kick the gesture away. They locked up and Edwards backed Romero in the corner. He shoved Romero, who responded in kind.
Edwards worked over Romero's arm but Rocky reversed and took him down to the mat. They had some nice counter-wrestling. Edwards gained control with a side headlock but Romero escaped and took Edwards down with one of his own. They fought to their feet and smashed into each other with a series of shoulderblocks, with neither man budging. Edwards smiled and chopped away at Romero, who responded. Eddie drilled Romero harder and he went down. Romero fired back and they faced off.
They battled to the outside of the ring, where Romero nailed a rana off the apron to the floor. They battled with Edwards smashing his arm into the ring post, so when they came back from commercial, Romero was in firm control of the match.
Edwards regained control after a missed charge in the corner. Edwards tried to set up a suplex but Romero nailed a series of kicks to the legs and took him down for the Diablo armbar. Romero nailed a knee strike but Edwards returned with a forearm shiver. Edwards nailed a Tiger Driver. He charged for the Boston Knee Party but was caught in the Diablo Armbar. Edwards was able to maneuver him into a pinning combination and scored the three count.
Your winner, Eddie Edwards!
Edwards teased an handshake but instead attacked Romero. ROH Champion Jonathan Gresham hit the ring for the save.
Romero, not knowing why Gresham was there, shoved Gresham. Gresham offered his hand and Romero took it.
There was a Swinger's Dungeon vignette with Zicky Dice. Dice said he couldn't believe the stretching going on. He paid Swinger money and wanted to return, realizing it was a sex club but Swinger wanted to work with him...in the ring...and said they'll have the chump chump challenge next week.
Philly Street Fight: Knockouts Champion Tasha Steelz vs. Mickie James
Mickie came out carrying several trash can lids.
Steelz came out carrying a baseball bat. She posed on the buckles but James threw a trash can lid at her. They immediately began brawling. Steelz powdered out to the floor. Mickie smashed her with a trash can lid to the spine. Mickie tossed her towards the announcer's table and dragged Steelz towards the entrance aisle. She tossed Steelz onto the entrance ramp. James nailed a neckbreaker on the entrance stage.
James began pulling out weapons from the trash can, then dumped Steelz into the trash can. She rolled it down the ramp. Savannah charged and drilled James from behind and began checking on Steelz.
After a commercial, Steelz worked over James in the ring, raining down punches. She put the trash can over James' head and drilled it with the bat, then smashed the bat into James' ribs. James tossed the trash can at Steelz, who fired back at her with it.
Steelz wedged a chair in between the buckles and then choked James with a chain. James used the same chain and they choked each other. James sent Steelz into the chair in the corner. Mickie went to send Steelz into the corner but the champ reversed it.
They fired at each other with chairs, slamming into each other at the same time.
Evans distracted James. James went for a kick but was shoved to the outside. She went to slam Evans off the apron but Mickie bit her, slid under her and powerbombed Evans off the apron through a table. The table didn't break but just bent, so it looked even more brutal.
James went to return to the ring but Steelz knocked her off the apron with James bouncing rudely off the table. Steelz and James battled on the floor. James smashed a trash can across her back. Steelz was sent back into the ring. James beat Evans over and over with a trash can. James celebrated and returned to the ring but was snapped with a cutter as she returned through the ropes for a close two count.
Steelz screamed that she hated James and began beating her with a steel parking sign. James blocked a shot and smashed Steelz over the head and in the face with it. James set up a chair and nailed a flapjack into the chair.
James ascended to the top, setting up for a Thesz Press. She nailed it and scored a close two count. Steelz raked her eyes and went for the Crucifix Bomb but it was blocked. Mickie nailed a DDT and went for the pinfall but Evans pulled the referee out of the ring. He argued with Evans. James dove off the apron but Evans caught her, recovered and drilled her into the ring post.
Evans tossed Mickie back in and she and Steelz worked her over. Evans shoved a chair into James' throat. Chelsea Green hit the ring for the save but instead sat down in a chair inside the ring and watched. Evans and Steelz wondered what was going on but then attacked James, who realized Green was just watching. Steelz nailed the frog splash from the top and scored the pin.
Your winner and still Knockouts Champion, Tasha Steelz!
Steelz and Evans left, leaving Green to mock James. She said that it looked like Mickie needed her all along but Green doesn't need her. James began crying in the ring and did a hell of a job here as Green trash talked her. James finally slapped her. Green fired back. They slapped the hell out of each other. James jumped her and Green backed off and went to the floor. Green distracted Mickie, allowing Matt Cardona to hit the ring and hit Mickie with Radio Silence. He held Mickie for Green to smash with the cast on her wrist. James was left laid out as they went off the air. Everyone played their part great here to close the show.
