Cobb picked up Naito in a vertical suplex.  He held him up with one arm.  Cobb throws Naito across the ring.  Crazy.  Naito fights back and goes after the leg of Cobb, the same leg in their match at Wrestle Kingdom.  Naito tried to pick up Cobb for a knee breaker but could not lift him.    Cobb fights back with striking moves.  Cobb picked up Naito in a deadlift superplex from the second rope.  The crowd gasps.   Naito bounced almost two feet in the air when he hit the mat.  Naito kicks out at two.   Naito hits an Esperanza and goes for Destino.   Cobb reverses into a Spincycle.   Cobb with a deadlift gutwrench powerbomb.  Two count.  Cobb goes for a Tour of the Island, but Naito reverses into Destino.  Two count.  Naito goes for another Destino.  Cobb reverses into a Tour of the Islands.  Naito escapes and rolls up Cobb.

Really good match.   They told a good story in the ring tonight and in the events leading to this match.

Slow start to the match.  They grappled and kept things  on the mat.  CIMA explodes with some Lucha strikes.  Match goes to the floor.  Okada gets thrown into the guardrails.  CIMA hits a DDT on the floor.  CIMA follows with a running Meteora off the ring apron.  Okada is almost counted out.  Okada fights back.  He takes the match back to the floor.  He hits a DDT, then a running dropkick to CIMA's chest.   Back in the ring, Okada applies the Money Clip.  CIMA gets a break.  Okada hits a dropkick and top rope elbow.   He calls for the Rainmaker.  Okada misses a Rainmaker and CIMA hits a back cracker.  CIMA hits a Meteora to back of the head.   Okada counters with a jumping twisting tombstone.  CIMA fights back with another back cracker off the ropes and a coast to coast dropkick.  CIMA hits a glancing Meteora from the top rope.  CIMA pulls down the knee pads and goes to the top rope.  Okada moves out of the way and CIMA lands with bare knees on the mat.

Kazuchika Okada will face Tetsuya Naito in the SemiFinals on March 26.

Okada and CIMA kneel in the ring.  Okada bows to CIMA.  CIMA returns the bow toward Okada.  Much respect between these two men.

This was a good match.  Without a storyline to the match, it lacked a bit of drama.  Tomorrow's matches between Hiromu vs. Takagi and Ospreay vs. ZSJ should have lots of drama.  However, CIMA showed he could hang with the IWGP World Champion.

Stay tuned tomorrow for the conclusion of the Quarterfinals of the New Japan Cup 2022.
