Wrestling Open Week 11

3/17/22 - Worcester, MA

Streaming on IWTV.live

After a pretty bananas Beyond Wrestling show in Somerville on Sunday, Wrestling Open rolls into Week 11 with a seriously stacked card. A whole bunch of returns and debuts are on deck for tonight as well as a few grudge matches weeks in the making! Oh yeah…and THIS:

Spotlight Match: Jay Heru vs Bunz Nastay

We get those hot dog chants going for Nastay. Good graps back and forth early, Nastay with a good drop down trip. Nastay fires up the crowd but Heru dodges a flying corner headbutt and blasts a lariat. Heru swarms with punches and attacks downed in the corner. Nastay slapping his way to freedom…Heru popped up but comes down with a face buster to the knee. Huge STO starches Bunz Nastay and Heru covers him confidently for the three. Heru attacks Nastay as he gets helped out of the ring and runs him into the stairs for good measure.

Winner: Jay Heru

And we’re liiiiive on IWTV! Paul Crockett is on commentary! Rich Palladino is your announcer! It’s St. Patricks’s Day and it’s prolly gonna get wild before the nights out.   Let’s gooooooo!

Rich Palladino announces Sidney Bakabella is joining the commentary table tonight. Oh. Did he lose his gig as a world trash manager or something? Does he need his old job back?

Match 1: JC Storm vs Little Mean Kathleen

Ah - that explains why Bakabella wanted his old job back. I’m sure he’s talking all the crap on the mic. Storm is laying the attack in early. Sidewalk slam and a stack pin can’t get the job done. Storm posts herself  and LMK gets a moment to recover. LMK fires up in the comeback and gets the three count off a Dudley Dog! Fast match because we needed to get a mic in LMK’s hand.

Winner: Little Mean Kathleen

LMK directs a verbal barrage at Sidney Bakabella and offers him a wager. Bakabella LOVES a gamble and is very confident about his hand picked opponent (correction: MONSTER) for WWR+ on Sunday. If she wins, Teddy Goodz gets a rematch against Channing Thomas and LMK gets to pick the stipulation! “You’re on, toots!” says a flustered and angry Sidney. Bakabella storms back to the commentary and announces that he’s so upset and quitting his commentary job again.

Match 2: “Stiff Robo Ginger” Gary Jay vs “The Locksmith” Brandon Williams

Williams controls early until Jay hits a short flatliner to the second buckle. Loud chops from Gary as the crowd eggs him on. Jaw breaker leads to nothing as Gary cuts it off and chops the locksmith apart some more. Williams reverses a flying forearm into a belly to back flapjack! Fisherman’s suplex for two! Williams grabs the ankle, Jay flips out of there and BLASTS Williams with a hard forearm that puts the light out for the three! This was a good matchup for me as a fan. I’d love to see a longer version of it!

Winner: Gary Jay

Rich Palladino is out here with SUP Bonestorm Champion Jaden Newman, who made the trek up from Southeast to defend his title against Alec Price. He complains about how rude everyone has been to him in Boston, as the crowd calls him GAHHHHHBIDGE. He abruptly ends the interview as he can’t take this abuse any more. I wonder if this tweet will age well…

Match 3: The Batiri (Obaryion & Kodama) vs Waves & Curls (Traevon Jordan & Jaelyn Brandyn)

The Batiri attack at the entrance of Waves & Curls and lay Traevon out before the bell. Jaelyn taking the brunt of the tandem onslaught of the demon tag team from hell. I guess this is what we get for cheering on Satan last week. Jordan makes it to his corner, Obaryion tries to interfere but Jordan stops that. Jaelyn with a crossbody to Kodama and makes the tag! Huuuuuuuge sidewalk slam to Kodama! Big boot to Obaryion sends him off the apron! Jaelyn back in and Kodama eats the Wave Check for the pin!

Winners: Waves & Curls

The Graysons brawl out of the back as the previous match is clearing out and Waves & Curls pulls them apart. The Graysons make it to the ring and we ring the bell for this brotherly grudge match!

Match 4: JP Grayson vs Tommy Grayson

This is a fight! They come in hard, trade punches, JP with a tackle! Battle right to the floor as the crowd chants “Let’s Go Grayson!” They trade hard shots and the ref counts them both out. They keep fighting after the bell until Waves & Curls breaks them up again and sends them to the back. Wild segment that was all energy are ramped the crowd way up. You want to do a brawl? This is how you do that. This crowd is officially invested in seeing these two fight again…but how do they step it up from here?

Winner: Double Countout

Match 5: “The Cure” Lucas Chase vs Love Doug

Chase has syringes printed all over his singlet and it’s giving me PTSD to THAT RSP Match. IYKYK. Thank goodness we love Doug, who throws a handful of petals into chase’s face. Doug starts hot but Chase kicks out his face on an up and over in the corner. Good spot. Pop up flapjack! He tries to squeeze the Love out of Doug and rag dolls him in a bear hug. Doug punches free, Chase catches a crossbody to a backbreaker as a kick off the corner. Huge fallaway slam off the second buckle! Doug escapes a suplex, near fall on a rollup! Trip to the buckles! Double knees to the back of the head! Back suplex and Chase eats a smooch from the forearm! Doug hits a blockbuster stunner! Eric James starts singing over the PA and Doug is very distracted. Chase rakes the eyes and looks like he might put him away with a Samoan drop but Doug turns it into a crucifix bomb for the pin!

Winner: Love Doug

Match 6: “The Torture Artist” Prince Ahmed vs “The Shore Thing” Ray Jaz

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I was hoping this would be a Jaz free night. We definitely have turned Price Ahmed babyface in Worcester though and this just confirms it. Jaz has a tip but it devolves into making fun of people for eating lucky charms and drinking green beer. This is normal, he doesn’t have tips. No really. Ahmed has words too but Jaz doesn’t speak Arabic. GOOGLE IT. Bell rings and Ahmed comes out hot but Jaz just hits him out with a knee. Big spine buster but it’s not enough. Jaz whipping Ahmed to the buckles as the crowd tries to Will him back into the contest. Suplex drape on the top rope rope and a drive by forearm. Jaz hits the corner and Ahmed with a rollover codebreaker. Orton style backbreaker! Ahmed springs off the ropes but Jaz catches the cradle bomb and locks up the….<throws up in mouth>…Jazmission for the tap out.

Winner: Ray Jaz

Jaz on the mic thinks he’s better than everyone. He calls out anyone in the back to prove they are a better athlete than him. Dustin Waller answers the call! Ray Jaz says we don’t deserve that and quickly vacated the ring. But next week? WHO KNOWS!

Match 7: “Latin Spice” JCruz (w/ Victor Chase) vs “The Abominable” CPA

They have the backpack presumably full of bricks brought to ringside. Chase joins Crockett at ringside. Cruz doesn’t know quite how to handle the unique offense of CPA and is kept off balance for much of the early going. CPA loses his tie but it is, as we know, a clip on. Cruz finally peels through the layers of goof and tosses CPA off the top and stomps the heck out of him. Cruz with big chops and runs the eyes on the ropes. CPA gets an elbow up but Cruz catches him with a fallaway slam. CPA handing out stunners but can’t make the cover. CPA up and rips off his shirt for the second time this match! There’s another shirt! Cruz tries the fallaway slam again but CPA lands on him. CPA off the top but Cruz catches him out of the air and slams him to the mat for the three! CPA matches are such dumb fun.

Winner: JCruz

Match 8: Mortar vs Bobby Orlando

Mortar is holding the skin of Bobby Junior Junior in his teeth as he comes to the ring. Orlando is all fire and ready for this fight. Mortar goes right for Bobby Junior and hides on the post as Orlando keeps coming in. Mortar refuses to engage and sits at ringside and Orlando doesn’t know what to do. Mortar gets his hands on Bobby Junior and Orlando flies out from the ring to save his (goat) son. They battle and almost crash into the hard cam! Mortar takes Orlando off the apron and wants the countout. Bobby back in but rolls right into a senton. Orlando chopped in the throat. Pop up spine buster! Mortar talking trash and Orlando catches a punch and bites the fist. Orlando with lariats. Big Bobby slam! Dabbing elbow drop! Kick out! He wants a bomb but Mortar back drop ma out of the way. Mortar comes out of the corner with a black bag and blasts Mortar in the head! Wait! Was that the Brick City Boyz backpack?!? Ring the bell!

Winner: Bobby Orlando (by DQ)

The Brick City Boyz are out to congratulate Mortar…wait…Brick & Mortar….OF COURSE. That’s definitely their backpack. They planned this all along! They walk their new friend around the ring as Orlando is laid out with a brick on his chest. Good match, good angle. I’m still so curious what Bryce Donovan is going to think of all of this.

Match 9: The Stetson Ranch (Steven Stetson & Fancy Ryan Clancy) & “The Victorious BRG” Brett Ryan Gosling vs Miracle Ones (Dustin Waller, Kylon King & Ichiban)

The crowd disagrees with this new tag name. It SHOULD be the Fancy Boyz. Stetson needed a third member for the Ranch. The Victorious BRG was his talent scout’s sweetest choice. They do have a stiff test against Miracle Ones, the hottest trio in Wrestling Open, who are wearing elements of each other’s gear tonight. Waller even has his own Ichiban mask! Clancy might start but the crowd wants him so BRG tags in instantly and gets beat up by Ichiban. Dropkick shootstar combo and Waller nearly gets the pin! Stetson in to make the save but Dustin gives him 10 individual single punches in the corner. BRG interferes and Stetson finally takes control. Stetson with a seated senton to the back and unmasks Waller! Ripcord Lariat from BRG for two! Clancy in but Waller fights him off, enziguri and a tag to King! Kylon cleans house, double suplex to BRG and Clancy! Stetson tries to hold King back but Clancy with a miscue and decks his partner! Everyone falling to the outside, Kylon pops BRG up and germans him out of the air for the pin! Great energy here but Stetson can’t be happy with Ryan Clancy right now…

Winners: Miracle Ones

Main Event: Jaden Newman(c) vs “The Prize” Alec Price (for the Southern Underground Pro Bonestorm Championship)

Jaden Newman is in ENEMY TERRITORY tonight. Price might be GAHBIDGE but he’s a Northeast Beast and our hero tonight….and as someone who covers both scenes, I’ll have to be as neutral on this one as I can. The crowd fires up with “Northeast” chants. Denver Colorado joins Paul at the commentary table to call this one. Brief feeling out at the bell, Price grabs the head and neck and forces Jaden to the rope quickly. Shoulder block from Newman elicits some hard boos. Price getting some “Northeast Beast” chants. Jaden with an up and over flatliner! Price eats a big suplex for two as the crowd jeers Newman with “GAHHHHHBIDGE” chants. Price with a dropkick sending Newman off the apron, dive off the apron! Battle back into the ring, Newman laying in some big slams. Newman to the top but Price catches him there…Newman tries to bomb him but Price reverses it with a sort of Rana Destroyer?!? Wild move! Slingshot tornado ddt stuns Newman! Newman dodges a corner forearm but Price has it clocked and lands a high angle leg lariat for a clooooose two. He tries the Suprize kick but Jaden rolls it up! Price with a Spanish fly ddt! Kick out! Price is frustrated but laying in the slaps! Newman catches Price with a flipping air raid crash! Powerbomb! Jaden with a deathlock! Price won’t tap. He fights free! Trading punches back and forth, Jaden misses a back fist! Price kicks out the gut! Jaden dropped and stunned in the center! Su Prize kick connects!!! One. Two. Three!!!! New champ!!!

Winner (and new Champion): Alec Price

The Southeast took Uncharted Territory. Now, the Northeast has one of their belts. As a fan, if this means more guys from the Southeast are headed up this way (a thing I’ve wanted for a WHILE)…well, that’s the silver lining here. Jaden/Alec had a banger match to close the night, super hot crowd through the show and great action across the whole card. In short, this is what you get on Thursdays in Worcester at Wrestling Open. See you next Thursday. But also, see you this Sunday. XD
