Tomoaki Honma and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Aaron Henare and Jeff Cobb
Henare pins Honma after Streets of Rage.
Henare has been getting the win in these preview tags during the New Japan Cup. In past years, with Great O-Khan and with Jeff Cobb, this was the pattern with the United Empire. This makes Henare look strong and on par with his teammates.
Tanga Loa joins Kevin Kelly on English commentary. Kevin Kelly asks Tanga Loa how it feels to be cheered. Tanga answers that it is weird. He prefers to be booed and hated, and it will take time to get used to it. Tanga said he would not get involved

Wild match. Yujiro hits BUSHI with his Pimp Stick, then followed with Big Juice.

New Japan Cup 2022 Round 3 Matches:
Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Great O-Khan
Aaron Henare and Jeff Cobb join O-Khan at ringside.
Lots of mat wrestling and grappling to start. They both got ankle locks and they rolled out of the ring. O-Khan smashed ZSJ's ankle into the guardrail. Back in the ring, they hit each other with strikes. They traded submissions. ZSJ grabbed O-Khan's arm trying for a cross arm breaker. O-Khan lifted ZSJ into a powerbomb position. ZSJ pulled back on O-Khan's arm hyper extending his elbow.
O-Khan taps out.
Zack Sabre Jr. moves on in the New Japan Cup.
This was the same way ZSJ beat Shingo Takagi in the G1 Climax 2021. Such a good match.
SANADA vs. Will Ospreay
Henare and Cobb remain at ringside for Ospreay.
They began wrestling on the mat. Ospreay went after SANADA's arm and tried for a submission. The pace picked up and they both pulled out aerial moves. Ospreay hit a standing moonsault, but SANADA got his knees up. They both hit each other in the head. SANADA got kneed in the eye. SANADA went for Skull End and a moonsault. Ospreay got his knees up. Ospreay hit the Hidden Blade. SANADA kicked out at two. Ospreay took off his elbow pad and hit SANADA with a barrage of elbows. SANADA slumped to the mat with the hits.
The referee stopped the match. Ospreay wins.
Will Ospreay will face Zack Sabre Jr. in the next Round.
Big win for Ospreay. Not only advancing in the tournament, but he also beat the IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Champion. Ospreay may get a title shot at some point.
Ospreay craps on SANADA for taking six years to win his first title. He won his first singles title in his first year. He said SANADA was not on his level. He said Zack Sabre Jr. broke his nose last year. This year he will break Zack's face.
In the interview area, Ospreay calls out Jon Moxley. He calls him a bunch of names and challenges him to a match. I am sure they will meet on tour in New Japan Strong.
Round Three of the New Japan Cup continues tomorrow.
