3/13/22 - Somerville,MA

Streaming on IWTV.live

Wrestling Is Art and we are back here at Arts at the Armory in Somerville celebrating the return of the “Funky Munky” Angel Ortiz to Beyond Wrestling against one ROH Original Champion Jonathan Gresham! In addition to that, our IWTV champ AC Mack is gracing us with his presence (but not a title defense) in a Wrestival rematch with a highly agitated SLADE! We have Alec Price, Masha Slamovich, RSP, Kimber Lee, Jordynne Grace, as a VERY interesting contest between Wheeler Yuta & Biff Busick! Paul Crockett & Sidney Bakabella are at the commentary table! Rich Palladino is your announcer! Let’s gooooo!

Spotlight Match: “The Young Prodigy” Marcus Mathers vs Dustin “Flash” Waller (w/ Kylon King)

This isn’t your typical Spotlight Match. These two are WELL KNOWN to this crowd and Mathers is on his second match of his Miracle Ones trilogy, after a controversial win over Ichiban at Wrestling Open a couple weeks back. Unsurprisingly, these two come out hot from the bell. Mathers lands a kick to the gut that seems a little low but he apologizes to Waller profusely. Trading DDT’s, strikes, head kicks, cutters, this is even as hell, Flash is ready for Mr. IWTV and the crowd is keeping them full of energy. Flash dodges out of the corner and hits a slingshot flying forearm for two! Mathers with a half and half German, Flash back with a poisonrana, Spanish fly for two! Flash with a rolling DVD and running shooting star but can’t get the job done! Mathers dodges a 450, swinging facebuster connects! Mathers with a 450 and puts Waller down for the win! Hot start to the day! Did Mathers pick up an entirely clean victory this time?

Winner: Marcus Mathers

AC Mack is out here to stare down Mathers. He hates Mathers “Mr. IWTV” moniker, Mathers is holding that anytime title shot but Mack says he has to come DOWN SOUTH for that shot. We boo and chant “Northeast” at him! “Why are y’all so upset?” He asks. Apparently, it’s because he snatched Uncharted Territory from us! The crowd won’t give him any quarter and demand the arrival of the man from Rikers Island. “More Human than Human” fills the air. “NO NOT NOW!” A panicked AC says. Oh yes, now. It may be non-title…but it is also NO-DISQUALIFICATION!

Match: AC Mack vs SLADE (No-DQ)

This spills right outside after SLADE stalks to the ring. Wait, is this building cool with working on the floor now??? Mack is able to stun the monster with a flying knee off the apron but this isn’t gonna stop SLADE. Mack tries to choke him out, I GOT HIM he yells. SLADE bites free and gets to his feet. Mack grabs the title belt, it IS legal. SLADE with the duck, lariats and introduces that gold to Mack’s skull. Mack dodges a chokeslam, tornado ddt! Flying Savat kicks to the corner! Kick out! SLADE is back up and starches Mack with a chokeslam for a close two. SLADE pulls him up for another but Mack trips him down with a flatliner. “SLADE’s gonna kill you” we chant as Mack tries the Mack 10. SLADE blocks a low blow, chokeslam, he strangles Mack from behind and AC Mack quickly taps out! Mack was in control for more of this than I expected and it was Prolly for the best that this wasn’t for the belt, huh?

Winner: SLADE

Kimber Lee is out for her open challenge! It’s the winner of the Scenic City Rumble, Billie Starkz!!!

Match 2: Kimber Lee vs “Space Jesus” Billie Starkz

They go reversal for reversal in an early feeling out over the arm. Kim drops an elbow to the leg but Starkz grabs the hed with the other leg into a pin for two. Billie wrenches the arm back over Kim’s head but Lee’s strength bridges her back for a two count! Lee splits out of a caught leg, jawbreaker and she lights Billie up with chops. Kim sent outside, Starkz goes for a dive but eats a high kick on the launch. Lee with a delay vertical suplex for two! Kimber stretching the youngster out. Spinning back kick sends her down and Starkz eating some stiff chest kicks. She keeps taking them until she gets the legs. High knee to the chin of Kimber! Lee hits another high kick but Billies hits a discus lariat and they’re both down! Head to head as they stand and it’s time to trade hard strikes in the pocket. Lee ducks a lariat and hits a German for two! Starkz hits a German of her own that folds Lee in half. Suicide dive! Destroyer! Kimber kicks out! Suplex into the corner! Kimber kicks out again! Starkz to the top but Lee tosses her off! Kimber with a swanton bomb finishes off her VERY game opponent! Good slow build of a match that worked into an awesome final few minutes. Kim pulls Starkz up for the “Please Come Back” chants!

Winner: Kimber Lee

Kim grabs the mic. She’s done a lot in Beyond. She COULD be considered an Ace. There’s someone she never crossed paths with in all this time. She calls out Biff Busick for a fight in the future.

Match 3: “Kingpin” Brian Milonas vs Max the Impaler

A story started in ROH, inflamed on Twitter and updated the last time we were here in Somerville. Max and Kingpin have some unsettled business to take care off. They trade shots on the apron as soon as they lock eyes. Max and Kingpin trading clubbing blows. Max dodges a corner splash, pummels Milonas and tries to put him to sleep early. Milonas finally backpacks Max and slams them down. Milonas on the offense and Max is taking a beatdown. Milonas slaps them down, choking on the bottom rope as Max grunts wildly. Max gets a foot up to a charging Milonas, runs him into the corner, big spear! A second one! A third one takes him down. Max struggles but get Kingpin up for a slam! Kingpin grabs a chair that he stowed off to the side but Max gets it. The ref prevents the chair shot and Kingpin rakes the eyes! Running cross body and an Earthquake splash gets the three and ends this contest.

Winner: Brian Milonas

Milonas gets the mic and ALSO calls out Biff Busick. Milonas crushed Biff’s face in his third ever match and he’d love to do it again! Is this going to be a recurring meme for this show?

Match 4: “Smart” Mark Sterling (w/ VSK) vs Rickey Shane Page (Hand Tied Behind the Back Match)

RSP gets to have a measure of revenge against the goons that cost him a victory against Matt Cardona. Page only gets one hand though. Sterling gets to use both of his dangling useless appendages. Well I guess not ENTIRELY useless as he trips Page to his back early. Sterling wants a LOCK UP! RSP goes behind and throws Sterling to the mat. Crowd pops for Rickey, who is so fine. So fine he blows our minds. Sterling cut off and RSP has a chokebreaker locked and loaded but VSK gets involved. Snap Ddt to RSP. Sterling fakes an injury so VSK can gets a choke in. It’s time for Sterlings Greatest Suplex of All Time…and so he gets plexed by a one armed man. Big Boot from page! Stunner! Kick out! Another distraction! Sterling  hits a low blow! VSK manages to tie up RSP’s other hand! RSP has no hands…what’s he gonna do??? He’s gonna frustrate Sterling with taking shot after shot and then kicking him repeatedly! It doesn’t last as Sterling hits a spine buster for two! Sterling keeping the ref busy as VSK grabs a chair. Atticus Cogar makes the save!!! He chases VSK off with a handful of skewers! Sterling to the top! RSP hits the ropes and Sterling comes down! RSP climbs to the top with no hands! Top rope crossbody finishes Sterling!

Winner: RSP

Atticus Cogar is back in the ring and frees Page from his bonds! They leave together. I guess RSP doesn’t also have unfinished business with Biff! XD

Match 5: Waves & Curls (Traevon Jordan & Jaelyn Brandyn) and Encore vs Trish Adora and Kings of the District (Jordan Blade & Eel O’Neal)

This is the definition of a matchup of fun and respect, as “Waves, Curls & Braids” (as the crowd dubs this trio) party their heads off during their opponents high energy entrance. Also it’s Trish’s birthday says Traevon! We give a huge Happy Birthday! KOTD really wants to wrestle though…..and cut off the party and get Adora to their corner so they can have a fight! Eel starts with Trae and gets forced into the expected Waves & Curls high energy dance party hijinks. Adora is enjoying it….Blade less so. Eel weathers the early storm, takes out the arm of Encore, bringing in Jordan. KOTD tagging themselves in and out, do they not trust Trish’s commitment to the match? Blade with a head scissor take down to a cross arm breaker. Encore escapes to tag Trae and it’s time to go wild on KOTD. Trish finally in there but gets immediately dropped by Jaelyn. Dive to the outside wipes out everyone. Trish and Encore battle back into the ring after Trae is wiped out in the back corner of the building. Encore says it’s Showtime but can’t complete the ripcord! Adora hits Lariat Tubman for the victory!

Winner: Trish Adora & KOTD

Trish grabs the mic as we chant Happy Birthday for her again and hands off to Blade…who hands off to Eel. He throws up a single finger. He’s sick of people coming back from the big leagues and cutting the line. EEL SAYS KOTD RULES. Does Biff rule? They’ll find out!

Match 6: “The Octopus” Jonathan Gresham vs “Funky Munky” Angel Ortiz

This is a feel good match for long time Beyond fans. A testing process of these two returning Beyond vets. Gresham tries to control but Munky goes wild and shotguns Gresham to the floor. The crowd really wants Gresham to swivel his hips like Ortiz can. Ortiz gets a taste of Octopus feet before getting swivels at in an exciting sequence. Gresham gets to what he does best and starts trying to twist Ortiz into several painful predicaments. Angel punches free but it’s clear that Gresham’s efforts are wearing the arm down heavily. Gresham takes the arm again and confidently holds Ortiz down with a single leg. Funky Munky firing up and shaking that limb back to life. Time to chop up some tako and apply his own torture to the abdominal region. Heavy hit on an enziguri but Ortiz’s arm gives out trying a suplex. Rake the back with those munky claws! Trading heavy chops! Ortiz hits a backbreaker and side slam for two! Ortiz looks for a chop but Gresham blasts the arm with an elbow that doubles him over in pain. Trading forearms! Fast reversal sequence, Ortiz with a fisherman’s suplex for two! Sitout powerbomb for two! Trading quick pin attempts and holds, Gresham with a takeover, locks a head scissor and catches the leg to get the pin!

Winner: Jonathan Gresham

Gresham’s on the mic…does he ALSO want to fight Biff? He gives Ortiz heck for those Munky claws. He puts over him and Santana for the professional wrestlers they are. He would love to do this again. Oh, and he wants to fight Biff too. Gresham doesn’t just want it, he NEEDS it.  He has that ROH World Championship and someday he’ll face test in CM Punk & Brian Danielson…but he NEEDS to prove himself as the best professional wrestler in the world against Busick. Biff has a hell of a dance card coming up. With that we go to intermission!

Match 8: Teddy Goodz & Little Mean Kathleen vs “World Class” Channing Thomas & Sidney Bakabella

If you’ve been following my Wrestling Opens articles…you KNOW why this is gonna be great. Bakabella is in his singlet again. Thomas goes to lockup with Goodz and Thomas tags right out. Bakabella is mad and doesn’t want to fight. LMK wants the tag! She gets it, Bakabella grabs a headlock and he’s got her now! She switches the headlock, Sidney pushes off but loses his wig in the process! He is SOOOOOO embarrassed and tabs out and runs to the back, leaving Channing in an effective handicap match. Thomas tries to escape but Goodz prevents that. Bakabella is back, now with a hat! LMK is wearing the wig and double noggin knockers them…and steals the hat too. Channing left to the chopping wolves. Sidney tries to dive but they keep switching corners and he wears himself out and collapses in the center of the ring. LMK runs the stomps on them both! Goodz helps with an electric chair senton! Bakabella finally makes a distraction and Thomas flapjacks her. Bakabella in to drop stomps, LMK hits him once and he runs off to tag out. Bakabella back with an IRON CLAW, LMK fights out and hits a stunner! Goodz running wild on them both! Sidney forced into a Bushwhacker running headbutt on Thomas. Goodz to the top…Bakabella hits the rope and starting choking him! Thomas spikes LMK with a piledriver for the victory! This was so much fun.

Winner: Channing Thomas & Sidney Bakabella

Bakabella isn’t done. He’s got plans for LMK at next Sunday’s WWR+ show. He called in a favor with an old friend…and she’s not like most girls… <.<

Oh, and since World Class is undefeated, he says that if Biff Busick is a real man, he’ll step up to the challenge of Channing Thomas. Hahahahahaha! Sure Sidney Sure…

Match 9: “The Prize” Alec Price vs “The Russian Dynamite” Masha Dynamite

Two people who have a rightful claim to being the Ace of this place go right into a brawl at the bell. Masha throws Alec around by his stupid hair and stomps him out. Price is taking an early beating and even his cheap gut shots are met with thunderous hammering blows and painful stretches. Price finally gets a good shot in and starts working Slamovich over. Near fall on a snap suplex. Superkick drops her but she grabs the rope to break the pin. Masha back with hard knees and high kicks! Flying leg lariat for two! Price with a kick and torture rack slams Masha face first into the buckles! Masha gets it out, working towards the package piledriver. Price out, powerbomb for two! Masha hits an Alabama slam, bridge for two! She hits a yoshi tonic! Two count! Axe kick to the back of the head and a powerbomb! Price continues to kick out! Masha throwing hard knees, Price with a ripcord enziguri! Neckbreaker! Masha hit with a gotch piledriver for two! Price bleeding from the mouth and screaming for Masha to stay down! Masha begs for more, Price comes in with the Su-Prize kick and Masha is rag dolled for the three. This was fantastic. Absolute war.

Winner: Alec Price

The crowd chants “Call out Biff!” - Alec says he’s not doing that….PSYCH! Price says he’s the only Ace in Beyond…and if Biff is feeling froggy, Biff can come find him! Are we setting up a “Biff vs the World” show?

Match 10: Willow Nightingale vs Jordynne Grace

Crowd is hot for this one. Willow shocks Grace early with a pounce and several suplexes. Jordynne with a rollup but Willow has it scouted. Grace hits a good combo and stuns Willow for two. “I used to be everyone’s favorite” Grace says as she puts the boots to Willow. Hard whip to the buckles and Grace slows this down into a mugging. Grace with a double stomp out of the corner and stands on Willow for the two count. Nightingale high kick! Clothesline off the second! Kick out! Grace runs Willow into the corner with shoulder blocks. Jordynne hits a huge muscle buster! Willow kicks out! Grace applies a full Nelson but Willow has the power still and fights out. Chokeslam to Grace! Corner cannonball! Willow hits a moonsault. Grace kicks out! Jordynne dodges a superkick and hits a blue Thunder bomb out of a torture rack! Double knees to the back of the head! Grace with a splash off the corner! Willow rolls her up…gutwrench powerbomb out of nowhere and Willow gets the three! This was great and I reallllllly loved this moment for Willow

Winner: Willow Nightingale

Willow has the mic. You know what’s happening. She says fighting Grace has been a dream match for her. They hug it out. BUT BIFF BUSICK…calling him out is the thing to do right now…BUT she has some unfinished business with Alec Price involving a superkick that cost her a win against Becca…and she would let to settle that in April!

Main Event: Biff Busick vs Wheeler Yuta

Did Yuta call Biff out? Either way, Biff has a queue to get through now. From the bell, this is a technical affair. Yuta going grap for grap with Busick, showing why he was IWTV champ for a hot second.  Biff traps the head and arm several times but Yuta is able to maneuver free repeatedly and sends Biff to the buckles. Yuta stalls at the wrong time and Biff slaps the life out of him. Snap suplex for two. Yuta misses a crossbody and Biff hits a neckbreaker. Trading loud chops! Both men’s chests are lit up. High velocity double cross body wipes them both out. Fake out and Biff flinched…Yuta hits a top rope crossbody! Flying forearm! Suicide dive! Biff hitting flying back elbows, Yuta picks him out of the air for a German! Biff with a whip knee to the gut. Gutbuster to the top rope! Gutwrench powerbomb for two! Running neckbreaker for…one! Biff slams Yuta down, transition to the half crab and sinks into it! Yuta fights but Biff turns it into a STF! Yuta fighting to the rope…he almost goes out but he makes the grab! European uppercut crumbles Yuta. Yuta back to his feet and throwing hard slaps. Busick is mad now! He grabs Yuta with huge slaps and hard running uppercuts! Yuta with a big boot! Biff tosses Yuta! Running basement uppercut and Yuta is down for the three! Fantastic fight here!

Winner: Biff Busick

The crowd tells Biff to call out Biff. He turns the crowd to cheer for Yooooooooooooooooooooots! Yuta absolutely brought it tonight. Biff says he loves this place. He’s talking to the crowd as everyone who called him out over the course of tonight comes through the curtain…even Sidney Bakabella. Biff asks who wants next…Alec Price looks like he’s stepping up…until Biff is ambushed from behind by a masked assailant. IT’S DIRTY DANGO! Everyone leaves him to the beatdown. Biff is laid out and eats the top rope legdrop to close the show! The crowd wills Biff back to life with a chorus of “Bro Hymn”. He takes the mic.

“Dango? You’re a f***ing dead man.”
