The Road to Wrestlemania ran through Columbus, GA., for a seven-match card on Saturday, March 12. The estimated crowd of 7,500 saw the night lead off with the Dirty Dogs (Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode) facing off against Bron Breaker and Riddle. The latter was a substitute for Tomasso Ciampa, who Ziggler said had not recovered from his super kick this past Tuesday when Ziggler won the NXT Championship. Breaker picked up the pin over Roode with his powerslam at the 10:05 mark. Ziggler attempted to attack Breaker after the bell, but Riddle hit an RKO on Ziggler which put an end to that.
The second bout of the evening saw Austin Theory defeat Dominik Mysterio with the ATL in 8:04.
Match three saw R-Truth pitted against Omos. Truth, as entertaining as ever, told the crowd he had an announcement: he was Omos's father. This brought a smile to everyone except Omos, who defeated Truth in thirty-six seconds with a choke slam.
The fourth contest was a tag-team bout between Alpha Academy and The Street Profits. A very entertaining match that lasted 14:49 had Montez Ford getting the duke with his patented frog splash.
After intermission, the crowd was granted an episode of Miz TV. The guests were Rey and Dominik Mysterio. The banter back and forth between host and guests led to an impromptu match between Rey and Miz. Rey won in 9:41 with a roll up on Miz.
Becky Lynch was announced and came to the ring and challenged Bianca Belair to settle their differences right then and there, and not wait to Wrestlemaina. Belair was jumped by Doudrop as she approached the ring. This led to Liv Morgan attempting to make the save. She was attacked by the Women's Tag Champs (Carmella and Queen Zelina), which led to Rhea Ripley entering the fray. All of this led to our sixth match of the evening pitting Belair, Morgan and Ripley against Lynch, Carmella, Zelina and Doudrop in a three on four handicap tag team match. After 11:16 of back-and-forth action, Belair got the win over Doudrop with the K.O.D.
It's now main event time as Seth Rollins and Damian Priest face Finn Balor in a Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship. Balor retained with the Coup de Grace on Priest after going 11:32.
The pop of the night went to Becky Lynch, with a close second to Seth Rollins. The crowd was really in to Rollins's entrance, as the sand his song for the most of his match.
Hopefully, the WWE will return again soon. This was the largest crowd that has been in attendance for the last four WWE events in Columbus, and it was the first time back for the company since July, 2019. Everyone was entertained, and went home happy, and that's what the company prides itself in: putting smiles on people's faces.
