Goto and YOSHI-HASHI hit Shoto on TAKA.   YOSHI-HASHI pins TAKA.

DOUKI and El Desperado vs. SHO and Yujiro Takahashi

As SHO and Yujiro walk to the ring, Suzuki-Gun attacks from behind.   Desperado and DOUKI beat SHO and Yujiro in the entryway and against the guardrails.   SHO and Desperado beat each other with stiff shots.

Yujiro hits Big Juice on DOUKI and gets the pinfall win.

Aaron Henare, Great O-Khan, Jeff Cobb and Will Ospreay vs. Gedo, Taiji Ishimori, Bad Luck Fale and El Phantasmo

Ospreay has his back taped up after his match with El Phantasmo last night.   Some comedy spots with Bullet Club in this match.

YOH, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada vs. BUSHI, SANADA and Tetsuya Naito

SANADA traps YOH in Skull End.  YOH taps out.

Tanahashi and Naito have words with each other before their Quarterfinals Match.

New Japan Cup 2022 Round 2 Matches:

Tiger Mask vs. Chase Owens

Bad Luck Fale comes to the ring with Owens.

Owens pins Tiger Mask after a Package Piledriver.

Shingo Takagi vs. Tanga Loa

No Jado at ringside with Tanga Loa.

Good power based match.   They hit each other with massive strikes.

Takagi pins Tanga Loa after a Pumping Bomber.

Shingo Takagi moves on to the Quarterfinals to face Chase Owens.

Tama Tonga vs. EVIL

Jado accompanies Tama Tonga to the ring.  Dick Togo joins EVIL.   Tama immediately attacks EVIL as he gets to the ring.  They fight all around ringside.  Both men throw each other against guardrails and they smash into tables.   They finally make it into the ring.   Lots of shenanigans.  Tama hits a Gun Stun.   Togo pulls the referee out of the ring.   Togo chokes Tama.  Jado makes the save.   House of Torture hits the ring and beat up Tama.   Ishimori and ELP hit the and chase House of Torture away.   Phantasmo hits Tama out of nowhere with Sudden Death.   EVIL hits Tama with Everything is Evil.

EVIL pins Tama Tonga.

EVIL moves on to the Quarterfinals.

Jado checks on Tama in the ring.  Chase Owens and Bad Luck Fale hit the ring.   Owens hit a V-Trigger on Jado.   Fale is about to hit a Hand Grenade on Tama.  Tanga Loa come to make the save.  Bad Luck Fale drops Tanga Loa with a Hand Grenade.  All of Bullet Club stomp on Jado, Tanga and Tama.

Gedo comes to the ring.   Gedo knocks out Jado with the brass knuckles.  Jay White’s New Era Bullet Club poses over the bodies of G.O.D. and they give a Too Sweet Salute.

The young lions help the injured G.O.D. back to the locker room.

This was a good and fun angle to continue what Jay White started on Impact.  Now that Bullet Club is now solidified and Guerrillas of Destiny are now rejected, we should see ramifications of this in New Japan, New Japan Strong and Impact.

Hiromu Takahashi vs. Minoru Suzuki

Both men rip each other with chops and slaps.   Suzuki’s chest was bleeding after a few minutes.  Their chests were red and bruised.   Just brutal.    Suzuki and Hiromu laugh maniacally at each other.  The crowd react in shock as they hear the sick smacks on each other’s bodies.

Hiromu headbutts Suzuki and rolls him up for a pin.

Hiromu Takahashi moves to the Quarterfinals to face EVIL.

Suzuki is pissed and he goes after the ring officials.  He beats up every young lion he could get his hands on.  Just complete chaos.

Insane match.  Both men took a beating, to the point where the crowd was getting uncomfortable.   However, it was fun to watch and one cannot argue that both Suzuki and Hiromu are tough men.

Last night’s event still had a better group of tournament matches, but the Bullet Club angle and the Suzuki/Hiromu beat down made this event memorable.

As we enter the Quarterfinals, the only man who got a bye and won his Round 2 match was SANADA.   All other 15 men who got a bye are out of the New Japan Cup.  15 of the 16 men in the Quarterfinals will have to win 6 singles matches to win the New Japan Cup 2022.  The Quarterfinals will begin on 3/14.
