It is Wednesday and AEW is at the Hertz Arena in Estero Florida and we have been told that the PPV over the weekend was the end of one era and the start of another, but many of the announced matches and segments look to be following up on the events of the PPV. Our commentary team is Jim Ross, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone.
We start with Chris Jericho coming out to the strains of the Florida Community Choir singing Judas. Jericho says the PPV was one of the best matches he has had in his career and maybe the best match in AEW. He thanked Eddie Kingston for awakening something in his and he failed to shake Eddie’s hand. He needs to make it up to Eddie and Eddie deserves his respect and he calls Eddie out. Jericho did a nice small bit of saying “yes” when Eddie’s music hit.
Eddie says we are going to get deep tonight. He said he wanted to blow off the match and just go drinking. He talks about how he always loses the big matches. The fans were pulling the “What” chant on him and he shut them up. He said that people came out and said they didn’t end themselves because of the article written about him and his issues. He then says he hopes he did them proud.
Eddie says that the handshake was for Jericho. He talks about how he respected the man Jericho just to be, the Lionheart. He says that Jericho proved him wrong because he is still The Man. He says that Jericho needs to ask himself why he didn’t shake his hand.
Jericho says that he has his undying respect and please shake his hand. They shake hands and 2.0 and Daniel Garcia come out.
They attack Jericho and Kingston and start beating them down. Santana and Ortiz show to run them off. Daniel Garcia is left in the ring and Ortiz holds Garcia...and Jericho attacks Ortiz and Santana with the bat. The beat down starts again and Hager runs the ring. He acts conflicted and then joins in the beating. 2.0 holds Eddie for Jericho to hit him with the bat. The timekeeper’s table is set up at ringside and Jake Hager puts Eddie Kingston through the table.
Hager and Jericho drape their Inner Circle jackets over Ortiz and Santana. Jericho says that this is the Jericho Appreciation Society, and that’s entertainment.
We then go to a video package of Punk and MJF ending with Punk saying CM Punk is dead, long live CM Punk.
Dante Martin vs Adam Page (AEW World Champion)
Nice to see Page getting a match that isn’t a Huge Dream Match in order to show us Page as a champion.
The Code Of Honor is adhered to.
Dante flips out of an arm bar. They lock up and run the ropes only to lock up and run the ropes. Dante gets a series of chops and Dante is able to hit a cross body right after. They rolls through and Page finally hits a fallaway slam before we go to picture in picture. I also like that they remind us that Dante is 7 and 1 this year and is number 2 in the rankings, so we can see him as a worthy challenger. This is the right way to use the rankings and win loss record.
When we return to full screen, Dante and Page are working in the corner. Dante hits a drop kick into a two count. Dante is able to drop Page to the outside, and he hits a moonsault on him from the second rope. Page is rolled into the ring and Dante goes for a drop kick and Page turns it into a power bomb for a two count.
The elbow pad comes off from Page. They have a quick series of moves on the apron and the floor, and it ends when Page tosses Dante into the ring and hits him with the Buckshot lariat for the three count and the win.
Your winner and still AEW World Champion: Adam Page
Tony Schiavone is the ring with Adam Page. Tony asks him about the match with Adam Cole and Page calls Dante back to the ring. He says that Dante started from a rough position having to go solo, and he’s probably going to go for the tag team title, and he would be happy to wrestle him again.
Adam Cole comes out and says he’s sick of it. He says Page took him to the limit and got a fluke victory. He says next time the fight, he will not get that lucky and he challenges Page to a 6 man tag, and goes on about how they are HIS friends and not Page’s . He says he will make Page’s life a living hell and he will not stop until he gets what he wants.
Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson vs The Work Horsemen (Anthony Henry and JD Drake)
Mox and Bryan have William Regal in their corner. The match starts with Mox stomping a mudhole in Drake. Mox tosses him to the corner, and suplexes him before tagging in Bryan. Bryan nails Drake with kicks. Drake is able to get away and tags in Henry. Henry chops away at Bryan until Bryan is able to hit a knee strike after whipping him into the ropes. Mox is tagged in and he takes Henry apart in the corner. Bryan tags in and does the surfboard and tags in Mox. Mox hits the tossed suplex for a count.
Henry is able to get in a drop kick to tag in Drake. Mox tags in Bryan who hits the knee and then stomps him down before the Labell lock and Drake taps out. Bryan had taken out Henry on the floor after a messed up dive.
Your winners: Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley
A quick squash, and Tony is the ring to speak to the winners and he welcomes William Regal to AEW. Regal says he’s lived a long life and he only has a few years left due to the life he’s led. He says it’s the first time he gets to Thank Tony for helping him when he first got to America and he sounded choked up as he said it. He said he had checked out of wrestling until he found out Bryan Danielson had mentioned him. He puts over Bryan as he was usually mentioned with him as Bryan rose through the ranks.
He then says that if someone is willing to work hard, he will make him a better wrestler. He puts over Bryan as the perfect wrestler. He then talks about Mox and the problems they put on each other would make the Devil cry. He said that when he knew they would be fighting together, he knew he could help them work with the younger generation.
He then gives a warning that anyone who steps in the ring with them that they will step up or be stepped on.
In the back, Alex Marvez is in the back with Dark Order. He asks about their relationship with Adam Page. Page apologizes for blowing up at them on Sunday. They say it’s OK and John Silver asks who he is picking for next week. Page says that Jurassic Express wanted to work with him to get revenge next week and they say it’s fine, they are busy anyway.
Wheeler Yuta vs Pac
They lock up and go to the ropes. Pac locks in an arm bar and Yuta turns it into an arm drag as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Pac tries to toss Yuta from the ring, but Yuta uses the rope to stay in and hits Pac with a German Suplex. Yuta his a high cross body from the top and gets a two count. Pac retaliates with a kick and then a German that he holds onto for a two count. Pac puts Yuta on the top and Pac hits an avalanche brain buster and Pac leaps on Yuta for a brutalizer. Yuta taps.
Your winner: Pac
Nice short match to show Pac as more than the guy who gets beat by the House of Black. I would hesitate to say he needs it, but it’s been a whiel since we’ve seen Pac as a top guy, and he clearly is one fo the best on a packed roster.
In the back, The Young Bucks are with Adam Cole and reDRagon. Cole says it wasn’t the best night for them, and the Bucks and reDragon start arguing. Cole says to stop arguing and he talks about his partners for next week as his best friends, they know how to party. The Bucks say they are out, and Cole says he was going to pick reDRagon.

Matt says when he puts on a suit, he becomes a jerk and Andrade knows about that. The crowd agrees with him. Andrade says they need to take a vote. Matt says siure, but Private Party will neve vote against him. They take the vote and its three to two. However, as Matt talks, Private Party change their votes to thumbs down. Andrade tells him to watch his back, and Matt turns to see the vote has gone against him.
They all start beating down Matt. Private Party, Butcher, and Blade hold him while Andrade kicks him.
Darby Allin’s music starts and Darby and Sting come to the stage. They come down to the ring slowly. Once they ring to the ring, they attack, but they don’t last long…
...as the old Hardy Boyz music hits and Jeff Hardy rides to the rescue. They are able to clear the ring and all four men stand tall in the ring as The Hardys' music plays.
In the back, Tony Schiavone is with Shane Swerve Strickland. Tony Nese interrupts and challenges him to a match on Friday night Rampage.
Tony Schiavone is back in the ring and he calls for Wardlow to come down. He asks about Wardlow’s contract with MJF. Wardlow says he had to decide between accomplishing someone else’s dreams or his own. He gives his history and why he signed with MJF. He says when MJF slapped him, he decided he was done. He is still under contract and now he is finally free.
Where’s MJF to set him straight?
Wardlow says MJF should be smart and release him from his contract and in return, he will wash his hands of him and go their separate ways. He says Karma will get MJF. He will get the TNT title and he wants it all. He says AEW is Wardlow’s world.
Wardlow had no energy in that promo. This should have been where he explains everything and makes himself more of a solo character. I just didn’t feel it.
In the back with Alex is with QT and Keith Lee. QT welcomes him and they have a common enemy with Team Taz. He says he will use his power to have Lee’s back. Lee says he has a very large back and doesn’t need QT and walks off.
QT starts ranting and says that Lee will pay for this.
Let’s hope this means we get QT Marshall yeeted across the ring every week for a while.

Luchasaurus works over Max in the corner, and tags in JB. JB tries to run the ropes, but Bowens pulls him out of the ring and attacks JB as we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, JB hits a clothesline so he can tag in Luchasaurus who cleans house. He goes for a double choke slam but the Acclaimed roll out of the ring. Your winner; Thunder Rosa
Tony is now in the ring and says that a year ago, she had the lights out match with Britt Baker, and next week, the title match will be in a steel cage.
Britt Baker has time back stage and reminds us she beat Rosa last night. She talks about how she’s not afraid of Rosa, she’s afraid of what happens to AEW when carny trash like her might win her title.
Excalibur speed shouts Rampage’s card at us as we go to the main event.
