STEVE AUSTIN'S WRESTLEMANIA ROLE REVEALED

By Mike Johnson on 2022-03-07 22:58:00

Kevin Owens closed Monday Night Raw calling out WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin to appear on The Kevin Owens Show at Wrestlemania 38.

As previously noted on PWInsider.com, WWE reached out to Austin in late December/early January to gauge his interest in doing something at the show.    The idea pitched (at the time) was to have Austin return and compete in Texas as a one-time sendoff in front of a massive crowd with the idea that Austin's involvement would help boost Wrestlemania ticket sales as the company needs to move in the area of 200,000 tickets to sell out both nights at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

However, in the weeks that followed there had been zero confirmation within WWE from any source that Austin had agreed to physically wrestle at Wrestlemania 38.   Instead, the tease tonight is he'll instead be doing the Kevin Owens Show segment as they closed Raw playing Austin's theme song with a graphic showing the Kevin Owens Show with Steve Austin featuring a giant question mark designed to get you to tune in next week.

WWE has always planned for Austin to be part of Wrestlemania in some fashion  He was part of the initial announcement that aired last year at Wrestlemania 37 to push this year's event in Arlington, Texas and was featured on the Wrestlemania commercial that aired during the Superbowl, as was The Rock, who has also teased on social media he could soon return.

So, while Austin won't be wrestling, at this point, it's pretty much all but guaranteed that he'll be dishing out some Stone Cold Stunners in Dallas next month.
