VELASQUEZ CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER

By Mike Johnson on 2022-03-01 12:06:00

Former UFC Champion Cain Velasquez, who is also a former WWE performer, has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting incident yesterday in San Jose, CA.  He is currently incarcerated in Santa Clara County Jail in San Jose, CA and is being held without bail:

The shooting occurred at the intersection of Monterey Highway and Bailey Avenue in Morgan Hill, CA sometime before 3:14 PM Pacific, leaving a thus-far unidentified man with non-life threatening injuries.   There have been no further details related to the incident released yet by the local authorities.

After a stellar UFC career including two UFC Heavyweight Championship reigns, Velasquez made several appearances for AAA Lucha Libre before being signed by WWE to resurrect his MMA career against Brock Lesnar.  They faced off in a two minute match at the October 2019 Crown Jewel PPV with Velasquez later working a six man tag a month later in Mexico.  Velasquez was cut by WWE as part of their COVID-19 pandemic releases and has since worked one pro wrestling bout for AAA.
