Ronda Rousey released a new YouTube video today about her WWE return and dealing with the fans:
In the video, Rousey discussed how the fans booing her and saying hurtful things during her last run really impacted her and after Wrestlemania 35, she was "just done" and wanted to go home, especially getting booed as she was leaving the ring after breaking her knuckle during the bout against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.
Rousey stated that while others might have forgotten how she felt, she did not and was guarded and waiting for the same reaction when she returned at the 2022 Royal Rumble. Rousey said that even after she got a positive reaction, she kept waiting for the moment where the fans would just chant for Becky or say hurtful things the next night on Raw, assuming that she only received that reaction because of her surprise return. That didn't happen beyond a few fans razzing her from ringside, but Rousey said she got through the promo despite her concerns.
Rousey said she spoke with Vince McMahon after her return promo on Raw and he told her she needed to smile more. She told him that the fans were booing her last time and his response was that "they've forgiven you." Rousey said that she hadn't forgotten how the reaction made her feel and McMahon told her it wasn't about her, but the fans.
Rousey said when she returned to Smackdown, she was far more ready to let the fans in and let them "be a part" of her appearance.
