I’m still floating around Mexico this week so my Thursday Night Fix is actually more of a Friday Morning Hangover Cure ;). If you recall, a lot happened last week, including a truly NO CLASS main event win by Channing Thomas and Sidney Bakabella. This no doubt contributed to LMK’s loss against Delmi Exo over the weekend. Of course the big news is Beyond Wrestling losing the rights to Uncharted Territory to the Southeast so it’s possible that Wrestling Open may have a Thursday Night War in the coming months….But first our Spotlight Match! NOTE: This did not appear on the IWTV VOD at the time of writing and I had to track it down on Beyond’s Facebook live stream.
Spotlight Match: CPA vs Big Game Leroy
This is a wonderfully goofy way to start the show. CPA is well over with this crowd and they boo BGL before they even see his schtick, which is wrestling while playing a Nintendo Switch. It’s a similar thing to Orange Cassidy’s hands in pocket gimmick BUT there is the added terror for me as a gamer where you just don’t wanna see that Switch take a bump. CPA can’t make heads of tails of it early and falls into the straight man role, becoming a victim to a lot of Switch-assisted offense, including a head scissor and backstabber. BGL finally puts the game down after CPA tries to sneak a Form 619 on him while he was playing. BGL puts the game down and embraces the heel role the crowd is giving him tonight, good fisherman’s driver for two. CPA hulks up, rips off his shirt (to reveal another shirt underneath, as the joke goes), Form 619 but BGL isn’t done. He grabs the Switch and calls for a destroyer off the second but CPA catches him and hits a DVD to get the three! Pretty fun!
Winner: CPA

And now we go to Week 7 proper! Paul Crockett is going solo tonight on commentary. Rich Palladino is your ring announcer. Let’s gooooo!
Match 1: Even Stevens (Stephan Azure & Steve Somerset) vs Miracle Generation (Dustin Waller & Kylon King)
Crowd loves Miracle Generation. Even Stevens trick Miracle into almost being their own opponents after a game of odds & EVENS. Lul. Somerset provides an early distraction and Waller is quickly getting a beatdown. They blast his knee out, which prevents him from a handspring comeback. Superkick faceplant combo almost ends it. Enziguri from Waller! He hits a one legged slingshot crossbody! King with the tag, double dropkick! Double northern lights for two! They go for the power plex but Waller can’t get to the top quick enough. Even Stevens tries to cut King off but he fights back. Waller is at the top! Power plex connects and Miracle Generation picks up the pin!
Winners: Miracle Generation

Match 2: Antonio Zambrano vs Tyree Taylor
Zambrano trying to get people in crowd who are booing him ejected…which is like the whole crowd. Tyree catches him with big shots as the bell rings. Double chops echo on the walls! Zambrano hits a back elbow but gets dumped on his head. Zambrano powders, Tyree gives chase, Zambrano tears at the arm and posts Taylor as he comes after him. Zambrano swarming with punches. Taylor catches a spinning kick to the kick and a high angle uranage for two. Tyree tries a shouldebreaker but his arm is a wreck from earlier. Codebreaker to the arm and a roaring elbow to the back of the head crumbles Tyree Taylor and that’s it for this one. Good win for Zambrano here even if I still want to boo him.
Winner: Antonio Zambrano
Came back to #wrestlingopen to make a statement . And Tyree learned that the hard way. #quediceelpublico@beyondwrestling @WrestlingOpen

Match 3: “The Bodega Boy” Jarrett Diaz vs “The Shore Thing” Ray Jaz
Paul Crockett reminds me that Ray Jaz is undefeated at Wrestling Open. UGH. The crowd chants “F*** YOUR TIPS” before he even gets the mic. His tip? “Sometimes you don’t have to say anything at all”. He doesn’t take his own tip and keeps talking. Diaz with a couple of monkey flips and has Jaz on the backpedal real early. Paul Crockett seems to think Diaz might have a chance here, pointing out how hungry he is after his two losses. Jaz with a powerbomb and a couple of pin attempts. Diaz dropkicks the knees, falcon arrow for two! Diaz with a hook kick, Jaz catches it and hits a cradle powerbomb for the win. Has he named that move yet? I’d call it the Crowd Killer because they loudly boooooooooooo this result.
Winner: Ray Jaz

Rich Palladino is on interview duty tonight for the next match. Prince Ahmed is here for his debut and angrily shouting at the crowd in Arabic. Palladino asks for a translate, Ahmed says to Google it. Encore parties to the ring and Ahmed doesn’t want to let this interview happen. Encore puts the crowd over for cheering and chanting for him. It’s SHOWTIME!

Match 4: “The Chosen One of the Pharoahs” Prince Ahmed vs “The Last Entertainer” Encore
Encore with arm drags and fast reversals early. Ahmed to the ropes and tries to beg off. Ahmed with a rude awakening to the knee….sick neckbreaker. Leg lariat to the back do the head for two. Encore fighting back with fists and a corkscrew back elbow! Flying forearm. DDT plants Ahmed but he can’t capitalize. Ahmed almost steals the pin with a unique rollup but Encore hits a superkick, Last Dance connects and that’s the win!
Winner: Encore
Match 5: The Amazing Graysons (Tommy & JP Grayson) vs Hispanic Mechanics (Jos A & Jos B)
The crowd remembers the Hispanic Mechanics since their appearance in the Uncharted Territory Discovery Gauntlet and the Graysons try to steal their thunder….try. Graysons get slammed apart, double atomic drop, double clothesline. The Graysons use a distracted ref to trip up Jos A and get to work on the beatdown. Dropkicks, elbow drops, punches to the face, slams…Jos A is in trouble. The Graysons are clearly having some communication problems and Tommy runs into a Problem Solver that puts him down for the count. The Graysons arguing at ringside and shoving as the victorious Mechanics leave.
Winners: Hispanic Mechanics
Match 6: Arthur McArthur vs Rex Lawless
Arthur is a circus strongman from a bygone era. Rex may just throw him hard enough that Arthur circles round the sun and winds up back there. Rex wins the early test of strength and slams him from a full Nelson into a back breaker. Arthur pumps himself up for some chops. Rex hurts him. Arthur’s chops are weeeeeak. Arthur with a CLAW?!? This IS a bygone era! Rex with a Vader bomb, two count! Rex misses a boot over the top and Arthur works over the knee. Arthur with an airplane spin but his back gives out before he can’t finish it. Both men landing big clubbing blows. Rex with a running boot and a spear for two! Rex tries the chokebomb but Arthur grabs a guillotine choke! Rex goes down briefly but picks it back up, chokebomb for the win!
Winner: Rex Lawless
Match 7: “The Big Action” Pedro Dones vs “The Tatooed Torture Expert” Blaxstrom
Dones calls his shot at the bell and says he’s taking out Blaxstrom’s shoulder. Blaxstrom going after the arm and shoulder instead. Dones escapes and his a delay fisherman’s suplex for two. Bow and arrow stretches Blaxstrom back. Blaxstrom tries an armbar but Dones is out, hits the shoulder breaker for three!
Winner: Pedro Dones
Match 8: “The Victorious BRG” Brett Ryan Gosling vs Love Doug
BRG says that his loss two weeks ago was an exhibition and so his “undefeated record of 401-0” remains unblemished. Doug would love to make sure this match is official. This crowd loves Doug. BRG is vicious in his early work on Doug’s back. Face full of flower petals! Doug with a springboard back elbow, flying forearm! BRG tries a sleeper but Doug is out and rebounds with a huge lariat for the three!
Winner: Love Doug
That’s a damn lariat! #WrestlingOpen ?? : @indiewrestling, https://t.co/Xaxi7bbqet @LoveDoug_ pic.twitter.com/YlGEPnYXYC
— ? ???????????????????????????????????? ???????????? ? (@TheKamDreesen) February 18, 2022
Love Doug gets the mic and says he’s been letting us down. He needs to stand up for himself and calls out Ray Jaz. Jaz is right out here and gets into Doug’s face. He says Doug has no heart and pie faces him. Doug decks him! Kick to the head, Jaz escapes the lariat and heads to the back and refuses to stop talking. Jaz vs Doug next week? Doug says it’s on!
Match 9: Members Only (Sammy Diaz & Elijah Six) vs The Mane Event (Midas Black & Jay Lyon)
Mane Event going hard early, trying to get on back on Sammy Diaz after he won last week from ripping at Lyon’s mask and eyes. Lyon gets into the bad part of town and Members Only gives the big man the work over. Lyon’s mask is getting messed with again and Midas is getting frustrated. Diaz with a good neckbreaker for two. Diaz fakes an eye injury and Six ripping at it again. Lyon with an exploder to the corner, tag to Midas! Members Only getting beat, brain buster to Diaz! Lyon gets posted by Six on the outside. Midas eats a flying knee. Brain buster into a Frogsplash! Midas Black kicks out! Lyon cuts off the double knee. Apron powerbomb to Diaz! Grand Finale to Six for the pin!
Winners: The Mane Event
I'm in Worcester for @WrestlingOpen and i have a written apology.
— Sidney Bakabella (@SBakabella) February 18, 2022
This is bull shit#wrestlingopen
It’s time for The Apology. “IWTV Manager of the Year 2022” Sidney Bakabella & “World Class” Channing Thomas are out to the ring to do this instead of being suspended. The crowd boos the heck out of them after their despicable actions last week. Some people throw streamers though? Some people love the personification of garbage, I guess? Sidney has a prepared statement. He reads quickly and unemotionally. I need a picture of this magical non-apology. Channing Thomas also has words to say. “I SINCERELY APOLOGIZE”. Bakabella gets the mic and kicks off his music and gives another Channing promo. They apologize for Channing Thomas being able to win his match in under a minute. Teddy Goodz is out here and beating the crap out of Thomas! Bakabella screaming for someone to call the cops! Goodz throws Thomas to the floor and proceeds rip the suit off him. Thomas hit in the face with his own shoe! Goodz rips Channing Thomas down to his underwear and chops him up. Atomic drop into a lariat! Bakabella is in shock as his man is getting pummeled. Big back drop! Thomas and Bakabella run out the front door, out of the building and into the streets of Worcester! Goodz gives chase so this is definitely not over.

Match 10: Gabriel Skye vs Ichiban
Skye shotguns Ichiban right to the buckles and cut him down with kicks and strikes. Ichiban with the quick return with a back Elbow and dropkick. Skye sets up a big slingshot but just lands and kicks him in the face. Northern Lights! Ichiban out at one! Skye with a double stomp! Two! Ichiban reverses a suplex into a stunner. Many single corner punches! Skye catches the back elbow but Ichiban spikes
Him into the mat anyways. Skye with a fire thunder driver! Two count! Ichiban eats a facebuster! Skye misses a 450! Ichiban with the flatliner and picks up the win!
Winner: Ichiban

Main Event: Waves & Curls (Traevon Jordan & Jaelyn Brandyn) vs Bobby Orlando (w/ Bobby Jr) & Mortar
Mortar seems to be impatient with Orlando’s clowning through their intro. Orlando is immediately flummoxed as Jordan steals Bobby Jr and gives him a little dance and cuddle. He gives Bobby a little dance too…Orlando is getting into the party and Mortar has had enough. He tags himself in and gets the fight going. Orlando tags himself back in and he is immediately on the receiving end of a beatdown. Mortar back in and Jordan taking the heat. They start to demonstrated some team cohesion. Big Bobby slam for two! Brandyn in hot! High crossbody for two! Orlando with the blind tag, big slams! Orlando with an elbow drop for two! Jordan takes out Bobby, Mortar with a flying dropkick! Everyone’s down! Trading shots back to their feet! Double clothesline to the floor! Jordan flies out after them! Orlando escapes a Wave Check. Mortar passes Orlando a chain he pulled from Jaelyn’s neck. Bobby says he doesn’t need it. Orlando eats a superkick and the Wave Check for the pin!
Winners: Waves & Curls
Crowd chanting for Bobby as he gets back up. Mortar is maaaaad. He decks Orlando and pummels him. Senton! F5! Mortar grabs Bobby Jr Jr (the smaller goat) and tears it apart over a fallen Bobby Orlando as we go to the end!
It happened again........#WrestlingOpen pic.twitter.com/b4kZMBxgIc

And that’s it for Week 7 of Wrestling Open! A lot of good action, a lot of good rivalries moved along and even a few new ones! The upcoming rematch between Goodz and Thomas is bound to be fantastic. The main event seemed to come out of nowhere but the match was fantastic and really kicked off this turn for Bobby Orlando (and who knows how this plays out when Bryce Donovan returns?). The crowd seemed pretty good and hot through the broadcast so I look forward to being back there next week! Until then!
Sorry I didn't do commentary on @WrestlingOpen last night.

Still miffed about Sunday.
Probably would have gotten myself in trouble.
I did give one of the greatest locker room speeches ever before the show, however.
Should have been there.
