COMPLETE AEW DYNAMITE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2022-02-16 20:47:00

It is Wednesday and AEW Dynamite is in Nashville Tennessee at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.  Our commentary team in Jim Ross, Excalibur, and Tony Schiavone.

As we start the show, CM Punk is in the middle of the ring, sitting cross legged in “Mid “shirt and he gives the old Straight Edge “I'm better than you” promo. He then says that there is MJF who tries to be him, but can't think like him. He says you think he'd be mad at MJF for beating him twice in his home town, but he's proud of him.

He then says that the foundation of MJF's career is a ring he won with the help of other people. But since he beat Little Max last week, he gets to choose when and how they fight. It will be at Revolution on 3/6. That leaves the match. He goes over his history with cages, and he says he wants Max to learn some lessons. He pulls out a dog collar and asks Max if he will be his valentine. He then calls out MJF saying there's one more thing he needs to tell him and he wants to see his eyes when he tells him.

MJF's music hits and MJF comes out alone. Punk then holds up a picture of MJF as a kid getting a picture with MJF. He then says the price he paid for the picture will be nothing compared to the price he will pay in the match.

Great promo from Punk.

MJF goes to talk, then he drops the mic and storms to the back.

We then get a video recapping everything leading up to Bryan Danielson vs Lee Moriarty.

In the back, Tony tells Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy and Christian Cage and told there will be a pair of battle royals the next two weeks to determine who they face at Revolution.

Bryan Danielson vs Lee Moriarty

Bryan holds out his hand for a handshake, and then gives the “too slow” when Lee goes to adhere to the Code of Honor. They start with grappling, and Bryan gets a quick two count. They go into the ropes, and Bryan breaks to give a slap and then goes to the opposite side of the ring. Lee then takes Bryan down grabbing Bryan's leg, and Bryan reverses with and locks in the surfboard. He then turns it into the dragon sleeper and Lee is able to counter out and they go to the ropes.

They start to run the ropes, and Lee is able to take Bryan down and give him a flying kick. They go to the corner and Lee hits a series of strikes. Lee tosses him to the opposite corner, and Bryan leaps over him out of the way. Bryan is able to wrap Lee in the ropes and nail him with kicks as the go picture in picture.

The sign I can make out is “Bryan Danielson laughs at the end of Old Yeller.”

When they return to full screen, Bryan is trying to pin him with a greco roman knuckle lock, and they work a series of near falls. Lee is able to lock his legs around Danielson, and they move up to being on their heads with legs locked and a series of strikes. Bryan is able to lock in the Labell lock and Lee goes to the ropes for a break. After taunting kicks from Bryan, Lee hits him with a suplex. Hands in the middle of the ring, and Lee is able to take Bryan down for a two count. Lee batters Bryan, and Bryan hits a rolling elbow strike. Lee grabs Bryan's leg and then drops Bryan for a two count.

Lee tries to put on the Border City Stretch and Bryan is able to counter in for a shoulder capture suplex. Bryan is able to hit the flying knee and he waves off the referee. He then grabs Lee's arms and starts stomping. Bryan puts on the Triangle sleeper and hits a bicep pose as the ref determines Lee is out.

Your winner: Bryan Danielson.

A fantastic match. Both men exchange hold and working hard with a lot of innovation.

Bryan says he came out to teach Lee about violence. He asks the crowd if he passed or did he fail. And when the cheer that he passed, he says it's why he doesn't trust the American Public with anything. He then goes over his his offer to Jon Moxley and he wants an answer.

Mox makes his way to the ring through the crowd. He says he used to be like Lee Moriarty, and when he was young, he took a chance taking on Bryan Danielson. He did everything he could, but he came up short and it made him want it more. Every time he faced Bryan, he came up short and has never beaten him. When Bryan showed in AEW, he finally knew he had a chance to beat him. But, Bryan doesn't want to fight him, he wants to join forces.

And he thought how awesome that could be. He then thought that maybe it's because Bryan doesn't want to face him. Mox asks if it is because he wants to see what they can create, or is it because he doesn't want to be destroyed. Mox says he will leave it up to Bryan, and he's not saying yes or no. He says he doesn't stand side by side with anyone if he doesn't bleed with them first.

I love how this story is shaping up, and we have no idea where it's going.

He then get a video about the arrival of Keith Lee. And he narrates it, and it was fantastic.

Great show so far. The build to Revolution has started in earnest, and it seems to be shaking off the malaise of the last month or so.

Wardlow vs Max Caster in a Face of the Revolution Qualifying match.

Max gets in a few shots as they pretty much go immediately to picture in picture. When they return to full screen, Wardlow had Max up for the power bomb, and as the Ref is distracted, Max nails him with a chain wrapped around his fist. It's a brief reprise, however, and Max takes 4 power bombs before getting pinned.

Your winner: Wardlow

Bowens attacks Wardlow, and he gets to take a power bomb himself.

In the back, Tony is with Britt Baker and her entourage. Martinez is told to finish the job and finish Thunder Rosa. She also says she has the best Sensei, and the actor who plays Kreese on Cobra Kai comes out. And when Baker asks what to do if Martinez fails, he says “Finish her.”

In the ring, Tony brings out Hangman Adam Page. He asks how Page is doing, and before Page can answer, he's interrupted by Adam Cole. Cole puts over Page and then tells Tony to get the hell out of his ring. Cole says it's a shame his reign will come to an end soon.

Page asks what it was like seeing his friends build a company without him, and knowing the AEW Championship is the one title he will never hold. Cole brings up how no one brings up his name any more. They talk about how each of them have been bad friends. Cole goes on to say that now that he's here, he's always been known as the “Other Adam.”

Page drops the title and buttons up his sleeves, and Cole goes back into telling him how great he is. And when they do fight, it will be man to man for the title. He then offers his hand to Cole and the Code Of Honor is adhered to.

And as Cole leaves, reDRagon jump Page, and then Cole joins in to beat Page down until security and the Dark Order hit the ring. 10 then takes out the security.

We go to a video about the upcoming TNT Title match between Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara.

Before the match can start, Eddie Kingston comes out from the back. He bumps fists with Santana and Ortiz.

Jericho gets a boot up and Santana is unfazed, beating down Jericho in the corner with chops and a drop kick. Ortiz is tagged in and they double team Jericho and Ortiz gets a two count. When Ortiz runs the ropes, Jericho is able to pop him up, get a two count and Jericho moves to tag in Hager.

Ortiz tries to attack and Hager just beats him down shouting Why. Hager gets a Hager bomb and a two count as we go to picture in picture.

When we return to full screen, Ortiz is able to get the hot tag and Santana cleans house. Hager is tagged in as well. Jericho comes in for an attack and Hager slams Santana for a two count. Jericho takes out Kingston on the apron. Jericho runs into a strike from Ortiz, and Santana hits a discus lariat and covers for the three count.

Your winners: Santana and Ortiz.

Jericho then attacks Eddie Kingston and the refs have to tear them apart.

In the back, reDragon asks where the Young Bucks were when they attacked Page. The Bucks say that it's like beating a dead horse. The Bucks and reDragon get snippy with each other and Cole says they all need to be on the same page.

Mercedes Martinez vs Thunder Rosa in a No DQ match

Martinez has a lead pipe and Rosa had a chair and knocks the pipe out of Martinez's hands. Rosa is wearing a yellow track suit, much like The Bride in Kill Bill or Bruce Lee in Game of Death. They throw hands and when they go to the outside, a table and chairs come out. They brawl on the floor and into the crowd. The brawl goes to picture in picture.

When they return to full screen, Martinez hits a fisherman's buster on the table at ringside. They more slide down the table than go through it. Martinez then starts waffling Rosa with a chair. They return to the ring and go to the top. Rosa is able to hit a Rana from the top. Rosa grabs the trash can and puts it over Martinez and drop kicks into it and covers for a two count broken by grabbing the rope. Rosa goes up top again and takes a trash can lid the throat. They fight on the top and Martinez hits a spider suplex from the top.

Martinez hits an elbow from the top for a two count. Martinez piles up the chairs in the middle of the ring. Rosa is able to fight out of a power bomb and hits a crucifix bomb and then a fire thunder driver on the chairs. She is able to cover Martinez and gets the three count.

Your winner: Thunder Rosa

For a feud they have been working on so well over the last few weeks, the match seems really short and decisive.

Rosa helps Martinez to her feet and then Britt Baker, Rebel and Jamie Hayter come to the ring. Baker goes to Martin Kove, who says Finishe her. Hayter and Rebel attack Rosa. Baker comes into the ring and hands the pipe to Martinez. Hayter then takes out Martinez as Martinez was taking her time to attack. Baker, Rebel and Hayter stand tall over them.

We then get a video from the House of Black. They are waiting for someone,. And there is a knock on the door and the screen goes to black.

The Code of Honor is adhered to. Crowd is loving these guys, and cheering for both men.

Darby climbs up anyway. Jose, from the Hardy Family Office gets on the apron and Sting pulls him down, allowing Andrade to attack Darby by hitting him with a tablet.

Sammy is able to pick up Darby and he hits the GTH and covers Darby for the pin and the three count.
