Former NWA Champion Jeff Jarrett will return to the National Wrestling Alliance as the "official ambassador" of the 2022 Crockett Cup tournament, it was announced yesterday.
The 2022 NWA Crockett Cup tournament will take place on Saturday 3/19 and Sunday 3/20 from The Nashville Fairgrounds on PPV and FITE.TV. Announced thus as competing are NWA Tag Team Champions La Rebellion, Jay and Mark Briscoe, Doug Williams & Nick Aldis and Strictly Business (Chris Adonis and Thom Lattimer) with more to be announced.

The Crockett Cup was created by Jim Crockett Promotions to pay tribute to the late Jim Crockett Sr. The first event was held in 1986, won by The Road Warriors. Two subsequent tournaments were held, won by Nikita Koloff and Dusty Rhodes in 1987 and Sting and Lex Luger in 1988. The tournament did not continue after Turning Broadcasting purchased Jim Crockett Promotions in late-1988, transforming it into WCW.
Under Billy Corgan's ownership, the NWA revived the Crockett Cup Tournament for the first time since 1988 in 2019, with Villain Enterprises winning the tournament. In 2020, the planned Crockett Cup tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year will be the return for the event.
Meanwhile, the NWA will present NWA Powerrr Trip in association with Crimson's Tried-N-True Pro Wrestling in Oak Grove, Kentucky at Valor Hall tonight with NWA Champion Trevor Murdoch vs. Matt Cardona, NWA Women's Champion Kamille vs. Taryn Terrell, Thom Latimer vs. Nick Aldis in an I Quit Match, Chelsea Green vs. Kylie Rae, Colby Corino vs. Rhett Titus, NWA National Champion Chris Adonis vs. Anthony Mayweather, Mike Knox vs. The Pope, The Fixers (Jay Bradley & Wrecking Ball Legursky) vs. The OGK (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett) in a Kentucky Sweethearts Brawl and an person tag team bout with BLK Jeez & Jordan Clearwater & Marshe Rockett & Tyrus vs. Rush Freeman & Cyon & Alex Taylor & Mims. The live event is sold out but will be taped for future broadcast.
