MYERS VS. MORRISEY, IMPACT VS. THE OGK AND MORE: IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2022-02-10 22:00:00

Welcome to the Impact Wrestling on AXS TV report.

Tonight's broadcast is from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

We opened with a look back at all the major events taking place of late in the promotion.

Josh Alexander came to the ring to cut a promo, saying that after the last few months, he's talked a lot about the Impact title but if anything means more to him than the title, it's Impact Wrestling.  Three years ago, the company gave him an opportunity when no one else would.  Without Impact, they may not be a Josh Alexander.  He will be damned if Impact goes to war against Honor No More without him.  He will stand with his brothers on 2/19.  That same night, Moose will battle W. Morrisey for the title and every time he comes out here, Scott D'Amore tells him to keep his emotions in check but it's not like Morrisey is doing that.  After their bout, he's the guy waiting for them and they have to go through him.  He's invoking his title match after No Surrender.

Out came Big Kon, aka the former Konnor of The Ascension.  He came into the ring.  Alexander said he'll fight right now and demanded a referee.

Big Kon vs. Josh Alexander

Big Kon attacked Alexander and worked him over, whipping him into the corner.  Alexander quickly snapped him down with an anklelock.  Big Kon tried to fight him off but finally tapped.

Your winner, Josh Alexander!

Alexander locked the anklelock on Kon again and wouldn't remove it.  Several security members came out but Alexander attacked them.  Scott D'Amore hit the ring but was shoved down by Alexander, who didn't realize who he was striking.  The crowd chanted "You deserve it" at D'Amore, who painfully made his way back to his feet.  Scott took the mic and said that he didn't come out here to talk about emotions of a title match.  He didn't come out to get knocked down, but to reminisce.  He went back through their history together.     Alexander said that he's tired of Scott talking and he doesn't need an Impact exec, but his old coach.  When he closes his eyes, all he sees is his family in tears.  He's not going down as the man who the title but never wrapped it around his waist.  He's going to win the title and make the company the biggest thing it's ever been.  He's going to make his son proud.  Alexander is done with Scott's process.  If he doesn't give Josh the title shot he's earned, Scott will soon be looking at the hottest free agent in wrestling.  Scott told him he's out of the PPV bout and he's being sent home until they straighten everything out.  Josh said that Scott doesn't get it, he is home.  Impact is his home and the only place he wants to be, so if Scott wants Josh out of the ring, Scott will have to drag him out.  Scott told him to tip his hat to the fans and be professional, but then he's going home.  Scott walked out.

Backstage, Steve Maclin offered to join the Impact team against Honor No More.  Scott said that he has to have a conversation with Team Impact and they will choose Josh's replacement.

Tom Hannifan and Matt Rehwoldt run down the PPV lineup.

AAA & ROH Champion Deonna Purrazzo's open challenge is answered by Santana Garrett.

They had some nice back and forth with wrestling with Purrazzo looking strong.  Garrett grabbed an arm and nailed Purrazzo.  She went for a kick out on the apron but Purrazzo snapped her down and then knocked her down to the floor.  Purrazzo stomped the heck out of her and nailed a short arm clothesline.  Purrazzo kept control of Santana on the mat, manipulating her arm and hand.  Purrazzo attempted a Fujiwara armbar but was thrown off by Garrett.

Garrett nailed a back elbow and nailed several leaping forearms.  She hit a handspring elbow in the corner and followed up with a suplex, floating over for a two count.  Garrett locked on a Muta Lock.   Purrazzo fought back but was taken down with a big left hand.  Garrett went to the top but was snatched in mid-air with a Fujiwara armbar. Purrazzo transitioned her into a pinfall and scored the pin.

Your winner, Deonna Purrazzo!

Team Impact argued with Scott D'Amore.  Scott said he was giving them the chance to pick a new partner.  Chris Sabin suggested ROH Champion Jonathan Gresham.    He asked them if they had spoken to him.  They said they would after they win their match tonight.

Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion Mickie James vs. Chelsea Green (non-title)

Tasha Steelz is on commentary.

They shook hands and locked up, muscling each other around the ring.  James began working over Green's arm.  Green used the ropes to escape and rolled up Mickie for a two count.  Green controlled Mickie's arm, but Mickie used a cartwheel to escape and now she was the one controlling Green.  They finally faced off and showed each other respect.

Green grabbed Mickie in a standing side headlock but was rolled over for a two count.  James elbowed her way out and slid out to the floor.  She and Tasha had words but that left Mickie open to be nailed with a sliding kick out of the ring by Green.  Mickie was tossed back in the ring but kicked out.  She nailed several elbows and strikes but was hit with a big elbow.  James caught Green coming off the ropes and drove her face-first into the mat.  James went to the top for the Thesz Press but missed.  Green went for the Unprettier but James countered it, only to see Green use a cutter.

Tasha Steelz took offense to Green using her move and threw a trash can in the ring.  Green faced off with Steelz  but was attacked by Savannah Evans and knocked off the apron.

Your winner by DQ, Chelsea Green!

Bhupinder Singh was interviewed backstage.  He came to Impact from India to achieve his dream and to represent Impact.  This is all he wanted.  Raj Singh came to speak to him but Bhupinder looked at him and walked off.

Elsewhere, The IInspiration asked Kaleb with A K if he was enjoying the camera they gifted him and convinced him to take their phothe runs os, even though he initially turned them down.  Madison Rayne caught him and he said he was just taking photo evidence of their attempted seduction of him.  Madison told him he worked for the IInspiration, not the Influence.  She told him to delete the photos.

The Bullet Club came to the ring.  The crowd chanted for BC.  Jay White said that Switchblade is back on Impact.  He said that he's not alone this time, he's brought a few friends with him, The Guerrillas of Destiny.  White said the Good Brothers seemed to have recruited Violent by Design.   VBD came out and Eric Young told them to be careful what they are messing with, he runs VBD.  White ran down his own accolades and said that they'll face off at No Surrender.  He said it's his era.  Young said that they are nine days away from No Surrender and challenged them to a six man tag next week.   White said they don't have to wait as they can do it right now.

The Good Brothers came out.  Karl Anderson said that he finally has the BC in front of him to get the thank you he deserves.  Gallows asked how hard it is to thank them for all the houses and cars and clothes they own because of what Gallows and Anderson created.  He said Haku sends them a thank you text every year.  They thanked them for leaving NJPW because with them there the tag division was worse than all their pathetic attempts to recreate the Bullet Club.  Gallows and Anderson said they've been everywhere.  BC fired back that was because they've been fired from everywhere.  When they are done with Gallows and Anderson, they will fire them from Bullet Club.

Backstage, someone allegedly said to be Jonathan Gresham had been attacked and laid out.

They showed highlights of Matt Cardona's Digital Media title win last week over Jordynne Grace.  Gia Miller interviewed him.  He said it was the Digital Media World title.  At Hard to Kill, he earned a shot at the Impact title but he didn't just lose, he was screwed.  Impact didn't check on him or Chelsea, didn't apologize and didn't offer him a rematch.  He saw the Digital Media Title and realized he had a new path.  He made the Internet in pro wrestling relevant and took credit for Twitch, for Being the Elite and for every video blog.  He wants Jordynne Grace to rematch against him at No Surrender.

The OGK with Maria Kanellis vs. Rich Swann & Rhino

Maria Kanellis joined the announcers.

Taven and Swann started out.  Taven shoulderblocked him into the corner and nailed a splash.  Swann was dropkicked as he rebounded off the ropes.  They had some nice back and forth before Swann dropkicked Swann and then caught Bennett with a kick to knock him off the apron.  Swann went for a dive but Vincent got on the apron to block it.  Team Impact and Honor No More got into it on the floor.  The referee tossed Honor No More from ringside.

In the midst of all this, The OGK took control on Swann, double teaming him and scoring a number of near falls until Swann nailed an enziguiri on Bennett.  Swann then drilled Bennett and scored the hot tag to Rhino, who cleaned house on OGK.  He nailed a number of big shoulderblocks and clotheslines.  He called for a Gore but Maria Kanellis tossed powder in his face.  Taven hit The Climax for the pin.

Your winners, Honor No More's OGK.

They kept beating down Rhino and Swann.  ROH's Cary Silkin, who was at ringside, wasn't happy.  Taven and Bennett grabbed him and were going to attack him but Steve Maclin hit ringside and started brawling with them.  He tossed Bennett back in the ring, where Rhino wiped him out with a big Gore.  Silkin showed respect to Maclin.

Backstage, Cary Silkin and Ian Riccaboni thanked Maclin.  He said that wasn't for them but because Honor No More deserved it.  Team Impact showed up.  Maclin said that they are going to war and they should do it together.  Riccaboni said he's known Maclin for a decade and that's a man you want to go to war with.  Eddie Edwards wasn't moved but the other members pushed for him to agree.  They all showed respect to each other.  Team Impact is complete.

They showed footage of Giselle Shaw's debut on BTI.  Gia Miller tried to interview her but Shaw just insulted her while acting all narcissitic. She challenged Lady Frost to meet her next week.

No DQ - Brian Myers vs. W. Morrisey

Members of the Learning Tree tried to attack Morrisey on the floor and were wiped out before the bell.

Lots of brawling with Learning Tree trying to get involved.  Zicky Dice was booted off the apron through a table on the floor.  Myers and VSK beat on  Morrisey and went to place him on a table, which collapsed under Morrisey's size.  They set up the table again but Morrisey fought Myers off and chokeslammed him on the apron.  He then grabbed VSK and RUDELY chokeslammed him through the table, which EXPLODED.

After a commercial, Myers was beaten with a metal sign.  They battled with weapons.  Myers nailed a back suplex on the entrance ramp.  Myers used a Singapore Cane to accentuate a Russian Leg sweep for a two count.  He went to cane Morrisey but was snatched for a chokeslam but scrambled to the outside.  Myers nailed him with the trash can lid and used duct tape to trap Morrisey to the ropes.  Myers began mocking him, offering Morrisey a free shot before caning him.

Myers tossed a few trash cans into the ring.  He continued to beat Morrisey with the cans and the cane.  Myers hit a Coast to Coast into a trash can on Morrisey, who was out.  Myers cut him loose and covered Morrisey for a two count.    Myers went for a spear but was drilled with a lariat.  Morrisey exploded and killed Myers with a running splash in the corner and then followed suit several more times.  He nailed a big boot to the face, then grabbed the cane, wailing away on Myers before breaking it over his knee.  Myers was powerbombed.  Morrisey took out the tacks and powerbombed him TWICE on the tacks.  Jesus.  Myers was pinned.

Your winner, W. Morrisey!

Moose attacked Morrisey from behind and wailed away with right hands to the face.  He put a chair over Morrisey's face and throat, then drilled it with another chair over and over.   He held the title over his head and walked off, leaving Morrisey beaten down.
Hell of a main event and closing angle.
