Game Changer Wrestling returned to Dallas, Texas tonight at The Athletic Zone. Previously scheduled for the Irving Arena, the show was moved a couple weeks ago due to venue issues and the Athletic Zone was a massive upgrade. I hope they can keep doing shows at this venue as it's built for pro wrestling.
*Before the show began, Psycho Clown and Dr. Wagner Jr had two altercations, trash talking each other. At one point, Wagner flipped over his own merch table and charged Clown but security separated them. This went down 15 minutes before belltime.
*Dante Leon & Ninja Mack defeated Jordan Oliver & Nick Wayne in a WHITE HOT tag team match to open the show. The match started with a traditional, old school tag then switched gears into hyperspeed counters and tandem madness. The PERFECT opener with everything showcasing what they do best and lighting the fuse for the show.
*John Wayne Murdoch defeated ASF, who substituted for Matthew Justice, who again had travel issues getting into Texas due to the weather. Murdoch took the mic before hand and ran down Alex Colon and asked who in the back wanted to fight. ASF hit the ring and Murdoch asked who he was.... to ASF's credit, he delivered huge in the spot with the underdog babyface and they had the crowd in their hands. Went way beyond expectation with Murdoch hitting a top rope brainbuster through a door resting horizontally in the corner ropes. Looked like total death.
*GCW Extreme Champion AJ Gray defeated Allie Katch. Crowd loves them both and ate it up.
*Speedball Mike Bailey defeated Jimmy Lloyd. It appeared LLoyd may have injured his ankle as he was helped to the back. This was super fun, Lloyd is the constant goodn hand who can be put with anyone.
Psycho Clown defeated Gringo Loco. This was TOTAL INSANITY, falls count anywhere and the went all over the building with crazy dives off the second level from both. Both guys bled like crazy and it had a big fight feel. Psycho Clown absolutely came off like the star he is, and this felt like a big coming out party for Gringo Loco going to another level for GCW.
Atticus Cogar defeated Grim Reefer, Deranged, Alex Zayne, and Dark Sheik in a scramble match. Big pops for Reefer and Sheik. Atticus stole the win from Zayne, tossing him from the ring and getting the pinfall...and then skewered Zayne after.
*Blake Christian pinned Laredo Kid.
*Dr. Wagner Jr. defeated Joey Janela in the main event. They started the match with a bunch of stalling taunts, went to standard wrestling, a battle of chops, then kicked open the door to the chaos. Janela is in the best shape of his life, dude is jacked. He is a madman, pulling out all sorts of lunatic dives. After going around the building, with another crazy second level dive, Janela returned to the ring a bloooooody mess. Lord! What a MAIN EVENT. After Wagner finally pinned Joey, Psycho Clown came to ringside and started throwing chairs into the ring. Wagner Jr challenged him to a hair vs. mask match and the show ended with a lockeroom-clearing pull apart.
Texas has had some terrible ice storms this week, so massive props to GCW dealing with the elements and delivering the best show I've seen yet from them. I fully expected a card shuffling but Matthew Justice was the only talent that couldnt get in for the show. The weather and a recent venue change didn't stop the show from being packed and on fire all night. They return to Dallas for the Mania week with The Collective / GCW State Fair...including 2 nights of Joey Janela's Spring Break.
