Wrestling Open “Week 5”
2/3/22 - Worcester, MA
Streaming on IWTV.live
Wrestling Open is trying a new tactic this week and showing SOME of its hand ahead of the show…and there’s some certified bangers on deck for tonight. Shook Crew may have their reckoning tonight against Kylon King and the increasingly popular Ichiban. Davienne makes her first appearance at Wrestling Open (ahead of WWR+’s Super Bowl Sunday show) against Riley Shepard. In a match that raised my eye, we have MANDERS debuting against Steven Stetson. And finally, the match I’m most excited for: Alec Price is back after a week off to take on the debuting Marcus Mathers! All this and more! We’re gonna cheer for Satan tonight!!!
Spotlight Match: Austin Luke vs Reid Walker
A rematch from H20’s WRESTIVAL showcase last month. This is a nice pre-show surprise! They scramble early, Luke with an up kick to the face, slap staggers Walker. High cross body from Walker for two! Luke lands some stiff kick and Walker is in the backpedal. Luke taking the eyes. More stiff kicks, Walker fires up but Luke cuts him off with a lariat. Walker bounces back with a northern lights toss and ddt for two! Double undertook is escaped, Luke with a ripcord lariat and forearm to the back of the head. Kick out! Luke locks in a crossface, Walker to the ropes! Short kicks to the chin, Luke tries to end it with a brain buster, Walker out, double underhook driver, flips over into a bridging pin, Luke is down for the three! These two had five minutes, and absolutely killed it. Really enjoyed this!
Winner: Reid Walker
Paul Crockett & Denver Colorado are on commentary! Rich Palladino is your announcer! We are live on IWTV! Welcome to Wrestling Open!
Match 1: “The Peruvian Stallion” Rayo vs Ray Jaz
The Jaz tip of the Day is…BOOOOOOOOOO. “Why fix what’s not broken?” Rayo is ready for this before the bell even sounded. Rayo gets the wrist, great monkey flip into a double bridge. More smooth transitions until Jaz hits a forearm to the back, Rayo face plants him and hits a bulldog! Jaz up with kicks and punches and telling the crowd (that is 100% correct in booing him) off. Jaz drives Rayo into the corner with shoulders, slam out of the corner for two. Rayo won’t stay down. Jaz misses a cannonball. Rayo with fists, big clothesline, head scissor, double underhook backbreaker! Rayo comes in look for a Trouble in Paradise but Jaz catches him with a cradle powerbomb for the three!
Ray Jaz joins Paul Crockett on commentary. Denver Colorado needs to be more protective of his seat! Why fix what’s not broken indeed, Mr Jaz.

[VOD NOTE: Ray Jaz works with Paul to push the idea that Love Doug’s love is just a ruse and does some good analysis on the transition from a tag scenario to singles for Cruz. And some Jaz tips. I sure do hate Ray Jaz but…he does pretty good here with Crockett.]
Sam Laterna interviews Love Doug post match. Everyone needs love. Especially Ray Jaz…who comes right out of commentary to ask Doug to show him some love. Doug does nothing and Jaz says he has no heart. “Clearly that man needs some love”

I GET CHEER FOR SATAN ANNNNND SEE A CPA MATCH?!? BG doesn’t let CPA take off his “entrance jacket”. He tries to walk with Jesus across the top rope. That doesn’t work. He tries to come off the top, CPA stops it? He steals BG’s crucifix and is filled with the power of the lord! The lord compels him to do a shotgun dropkick off the second which sends BG flying. He tears off his shirt finally and hits Form-619! Two count! BG with a reversal into a jawbreaker. Top rope bulldog as he called CPA a “Certified Public Angel”. I was hoping for a CPA win here. They are sick of this s***. Next week, Waller joins his friends and Shook Crew will need to find a third! They have OPTIONS!
And that’s it for Week 5! This was a LOT of fun tonight. A lot of fast matches that did a LOT in their short bell times. The crowd was pretty fire for this as well. I really like how this show built, I liked knowing some of the highlight matches ahead of time, I like how Miracle Generation is getting built into main event players. This continues to be a great way to spend my Thursday. And next Thursday. and the ones after that. Until then!
