LIO RUSH INJURY UPDATE

By Mike Johnson on 2022-01-31 09:36:00

The Lio Rush injury during last night's Pro Wrestling Guerrilla Battle of Los Angeles event took place during a curb stomp spot and according to fans who were at the event, was caused by a drink being thrown at Buddy Matthews, Rush's opponent, during a promo before the match.

When the drink was thrown, it left part of the mat wet, which caused Matthews to slip while executing the move.

The fan who threw the drink was ejected from last night's PWG event.    There is no word whether the fan could be liable under California Penal Code 243.83, which makes it unlawful to throw anything onto a sporting event's playing field as it's unknown whether that could be applied to a professional wrestling setting.

Rush was taken to the hospital and later tweeted:

Rush, who is exiting AEW next month, just announced he had signed a music deal with Universal Music Group.
