Writer and Director James Gunn told Deadline.com that there's a "good chance" the John Cena HBO Max DC series Peacemaker, which has been nothing short of excellent thus far, will be getting a second season.
The series, which spun out of The Suicide Squad, debuted its fifth episode today on the streaming service.
On a potential continuation after this season, Gunn commented, "There’s a really good chance of that. We’re the biggest show in the world right now."
Cena's portrayal of Peacemaker in the film and now the series is the first-ever live action incarnation of the character, a soldier and super-hero who loves peace so much he is willing to kill anyone, including innocents for it. The character was originally created by the now-defunct Charlton Comics in 1966 but acquired by DC in the mid-80s, mostly as a gift for the legendary Dick Giordano, who had worked on the characters before his incredible run for DC. The character was the inspiration for Watchmen's The Comedian character as well.
