WWE NIL ATHLETE, COLLEGE STAR WRESTLER AJ FERRARI INJURED IN CAR CRASH

By Mike Johnson on 2022-01-25 12:49:00

ESPN reported today that AJ Ferrarri, one of the 15 recent WWE NIL Signees, was seriously injured last night in a car wreck in Oklahoma.

ESPN's report notes:

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Ferrari was driving his 2019 Dodge Durango with Rodriguez as his passenger on Highway 33 near Perkins, Oklahoma, at about 8 p.m., when he "attempted to pass 3 vehicles while cresting a hill." Ferrari's SUV hit an oncoming driver, then left the roadway to the left and overturned several times before coming to rest in a ditch.  The cause of the collision was listed as "passing in a no-passing zone."

Ferrari was pulled out of his SUV, which had begun burning, after the crash.  He was airlifted to an Oklahoma City hospital via helicopter and is currently listed in fair condition, according to ESPN.

Their report quotes Ferrari's father as stating Ferrari is still hospitalized due to fluid on the lungs as well as "bad bruising and internal bleeding."

Ferrari, 20, is originally from Texas and one of the biggest names in college wrestling, currently competing for Oklahoma State University's wrestling team.   He was signed in December 2020 to WWE's first ever NIL (Name, Image & Likeness) program, providing "a clear pathway from collegiate athletics to WWE."
