After last night's AEW Dynamite taping in Washington, DC, AEW President Tony Khan and Producer Sonjay Dutt paid tribute to Sting. During the segment, Khan praised Dutt and all that he's brought to pro wrestling as well, noting that so many looked up to him for the representation he brought to people of color in professional wrestling. Dutt was born in DC and has lived in Virginia for years, so he's local to the area.
In regard to the bout that was pulled last night, we are told everyone involved in the match is expected to be fine but AEW's medical protocol calls for anyone with a close contact to someone that has tested positive for COVID-19 to be pulled from performing out of an abundance of caution.
AEW will debut in Estero, Florida on Wednesday 3/9 for the post-Revolution PPV Dynamite taping at the Hertz Arena. There will be an online pre-sale today at 10 AM EST at Ticketmaster.com, using code AEW239 until 10 PM EST. Tickets go on sale to the general public tomorrow, Friday 1/21 at 10 AM EST.
AEW Rampage tomorrow will be live in DC. We had a few emails asking why AEW didn't run the Capitol One Arena this time around. The venue wasn't available for the dates needed as there was a Washington Wizards game.
Pro Wrestling Illustrated Editor-In-Chief Kevin McElvaney and Senior Writer Al Castle join Aubrey Edwards and Tony Schiavone on this week's AEW Unrestricted podcast. They discuss AEW winning big for the PWI 2021 Year-End Awards, some of the unofficial categories, history with the long-running wrestling publication and more.
