You probably don't know much about one another so it is best to go neutral on the location of your date. A fancy restaurant will do for most first dates as you get to know each other. Once you know each other's interests then you can set the second date for the cinema if you both love watching movies. You might also want to consider meeting at a local bar for drinks to get rid of the pressure of having to dress fancy and buy insanely expensive food.
The presence of a crowd of people can provide you with a sense of security especially if you met over the internet. We have all heard of first dates that turn gruesome. Make sure that you both agree on the location, if not then you probably shouldn't even be going on the date. If your date decides to give you a push to the train station, always make sure you walk on well-lit streets and not dark shortcuts, for safety reasons.

Even your makeup should just be moderate; a light layer of foundDepending on where you will be meeting, you will be able to choose the right outfit for the date. If you are meeting over for drinks then you can just dress in casual wear; jeans and a smart top can do, don't forget to wear a face mask. As much as you want to look good, don't try too hard to impress your date because they will notice.
Also, go easy on the makeup for this first date, a light layer of foundation and powder and you are good to go. For your eyes, moderate eyeshadow and china eyelash mascara will do just fine. Save that gorgeous dinner dress for your next date, if everything works on the first one.

I would say learn from your past dates but do not let the bad experiences define your present. The fact that your previous date went terribly wrong doesn't mean that will be the case for this one. If there is anything you feel you can do better then go ahead and improve on it. If you were rude to a guy because they were not genuine about their looks then do not do that again.
Keep in mind that a blind date is a gamble and you do not have to show the other person your disappointment to their faces. This is where most things go wrong during dates. If they lied to you about their height or something, just try and sit through the date without uttering something disrespectful that will hurt their feelings. Be kind and appreciate the person for giving you their time even if you do not plan on seeing them again.

Most people like to pretend to be someone they are not on their first dates. This is usually in an effort to please the other person. You have probably done it on many other dates and you are still here, meaning it didn't work. For this date, make the other person see you for who you are. You can start by adding some truths to your profile if you are using a dating app.
Meeting someone who was attracted to the lies about you is not always a good idea for both of you. Do not pretend to like skating just because he said he does. Imagine if he decides to take you to a skating rink for your second date, then what? You do not have to present yourself as the perfect woman, sooner or later your flaws will show; especially if you end up living together.

For safety reasons, be on the lookout at all times and watch out for any red flags from your date. You can tell if a guy is a safety threat by the way he talks or from his body language. If he is too aggressive and hard-headed then that is your cue that that date might not end well. Text a friend to come and pick you if you feel unsafe. Make it a habit to always let someone know where you are going and details about your date.
Going on a first date can be stressful but it is the only way for you to meet your soul-mate and begin a life-time journey together. Keep in mind that so many things will go wrong before you meet the one person that is right for you. Do not jump into relationships immediately after the first date. You might suffer so many heartbreaks and eventually give up on love. Take your time and focus on yourself and your feelings. Be yourself but do not be too vulnerable on a first date, a bad person will take advantage of that and use it against you.
