MAJOR NAME MAY MISS WRESTLEMANIA AGAIN

By Mike Johnson on 2022-01-11 09:41:00

While appearing on the Ellen Degeneres Show to promote the debut of Peacemaker today, John Cena noted that he doesn't know if he'll be able to perform at Wrestlemania 38 due to other potential opportunities.

ComicBook.com quotes Cena as saying, "WrestleMania is usually in the cusp of late March, early April. I don't know if I'm going to make it this year.  That's a good conundrum to have because there are a lot of good opportunities coming up, which I would love to take. If all those things line up, I don't know if I'll be able to make WrestleMania. I will tell everybody watching, I'm not done with WWE by a long shot. That's my home, I love it. I was able to go back during the summer for a few months and entertain audiences when they welcomed audiences back to arenas and I've far from had my last performance."

Cena lost to Bray Wyatt in a cinematic "Firefly Funhouse" bout at the pre-taped Wrestlemania 36, with the bout taped in Connecticut.  Cena last appeared live at a Wrestlemania 35 in a segment with Elias.  He lost to The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 34.  Cena did not appear at Wrestlemania 37 as he was filming Peacemaker in Canada at the time and quarantine requirements made the travel impossible without shutting down filming for weeks.

Cena has lined up a number of additional film projects over the last year as his Hollywood career continues to take off.  Peacemaker, which is Cena's first series, debuts this Thursday, streaming the first three episodes for HBO Max.

Thanks to Billy Krotchsen for sending that along.
