LAST STOP BEFORE HARD TO KILL: IMPACT ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2022-01-06 22:00:00

Impact Wrestling on AXS TV opened with a video feature building the main event of Hard to Kill this Saturday.

Lady Frost & Chelsea Green & Tasha Steelz vs. Jordynne Grace & Rachael Ellering & Rosemary.

This match previews the competitors inside the Ultimate X match this Saturday in Dallas.

Rachael and Tasha started out, grappling back and forth.  Ellering was sent into the ropes but held on and snatched Steelz into a gutwrench suplex.  Steelz tagged out to Frost, who went for a cartwheel kick but Ellering avoided it.  Tasha tagged herself back in, only to find Rosemary tagged in.

Rosemary controlled Steelz, who fired back with chops.  Rosemary caught her in the corner for the hanging armbar.  Steelz caught her with a series of forearm and a spinkick, then nailed an Acid Drop.  Steelz cut her off with a kick to the head but Rosemary popped back up and shoved her into the corner.

Ellering tagged in and cleaned house.  She stomped away on Steelz and nailed a back senton splash.  Ellering powered her up into a suplex.  Frost tagged in and tagged her with some kicks but was caught with a STO.

Ellering tagged in Grace and they double-teamed Frost.  Frost was powered into the corner and nailed with a series of lariats.  They went into a series of big spots with everyone hitting big moves.  Chelsea Green hit a dive to the outside.  Frost hit a moonsault to the floor on everyone.

Frost tossed Ellering in, where Green nailed the Unprettier and scored the pinfall.

Your winner, Lady Frost & Tasha Steelz & Chelsea Green!

Solid match.  Green's partners weren't happy with her stealing the win.

They aired a video piece on Moose vs. W. Morrisey vs. Matt Cardona.

Moose said he's done despicable things to get to where he is today, so think about what he will do to remain the champion.  He said everyone else will complain about how the deck is stacked against them, but he's looking forward to it.  He will get to prove to the world why he's the most dangerous man in the locker room and the greatest man in pro wrestling.

They aired a commercial for the return of New Japan on AXS TV.

Matt Striker and D'Lo Brown ran down the PPV lineup.

Jonah vs. Jake Something

They tested each other's power.  Something wasn't able to budge Jonah but still stood tall.  Something finally took him down with a leaping shoulderblock while rebounding off the ropes.  This enraged Jonah and they started slugging it out.  When they returned from commercial, Jonah was working over Something.  He locked on a waistlock from behind, trying to force the air out of Jake.  Jake fired back with some elbows but was smashed.  Something escaped a suplex and nailed a shoulderblock in the corner.  Jonah was drilled and sent out of the ring.  Something went for and nailed a big dive over the top to the floor.

Jake called for a suplex but couldn't muscle up Jonah.  Jonah reversed but Jake landed on his feet.  He smashed Jonah across the back, but was caught with a lariat and a back senton splash.  Jonah nailed the splash off the top and pinned him.

Your winner, Jonah!

Weird match.  It was entertaining but the idea Jonah was being rocked and beaten by Jake just two days before his first big PPV bout for the company was just off to me.  One would think they'd want Jonah to look like an unstoppable beast all the way until his showdown with Josh Alexander.  This match was fun but it seemed like it shouldn't have happened before the PPV.

Josh Alexander hit the ring and they started brawling.  There was a big pullapart.  Jonah smashed Alexander and left him laying.  He brought a table into the ring but Josh recovered and they fought for control of the table.  Jonah rammed him backwards into the buckles with the table and took Alexander down.  Jonah set up the table.  He placed Alexander atop of it and splashed him off the top.

Great post-match angle with Jonah looking all wide-eyed and deranged like The Sheik on the cover of a 1950s wrestling magazine.

They aired a video piece on Deonna Purrazzo vs. Mickie James.

Masha Slamovitch vs. Sandra Moone

Moone is a Las Vegas-based wrestler.

Slamovitch walked out not as someone playing a role but someone who exists as that person.  Moone takes the fight right to her and nails a dropkick but kicked coming in with a charge and DESTROYED with strikes.  Slamovitch hits a big suplex and a big Michinoku Driver for the pin.

Your winner, Masha Slamovitch!

Perfect introduction.

Backstage, Maclin says that he was yet to be beaten, pinned or submitted.  Maclin said he has heard no his entire life and adapted.  Trey fell right into his trap by going to Gail Kim and being told yes.  Gail Kim said that if he doesn't win, he'll never get another title shot at Trey as long as he's champion.

Gia Miller interviewed Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green.  She said that she's a wrestler and has been hit hard and is fine despite everything that happened.  She is worried that it's going to impact Matt going into the biggest match of his career.  She blamed Moose saying he engineered the entire thing.  Matt said Moose will do anything to retain the title but Cardona will do anything to win.  Green said that Moose knows Cardona could be the next champion.  She's tired of people calling Cardona an underdog.  He's not an underdog.

Mickie James joined the announcing team.

Deonna Purrazzo vs. Mercedes Martinez

Deonna attacked her before the bell, kicked Martinez in the face and stomped away at her in the corner.  Deonna pulled her up and struck her back down into the corner and commenced the stomping once again.  Purrazzo continued the assault and maintained control on Martinez.  Martinez finally exploded out of a corner with several clotheslines and a Saito suplex.  Martinez attempted an STF and locked it in.  Drama King Matt got on the apron so she released the hold and went to nail him.

Matt dropped down to the mat, allowing Deonna to snatch her with a Divorce Court.  Deonna began focusing on the arm.   Deonna controlled her for a long time but Martinez fought her way out of a chinlock.  She drilled Purrazzo backwards into the buckles, then nailed a spinebuster for a two count.  Purrazzo was beaten in the corner and set up for a superplex.  Deonna fought her off and came off the ropes, drilling Martinez's arm again.  She went to the top but was kicked off  Martinez speared her on the apron outside as they went to commercial.

When they returned, they were back in the ring, firing back and forth at each other with big bombs.  Purrazzo went for a tilt-o-whirl sideslam but Martinez reversed it and scored a close near fall.  Martinez began nailing knee strikes to the face and hit a DDT for a two count.   Purrazzo came back to cinch in the Venus di Milo and scored the submission.

Your winner, Deonna Purrazzo!

Really damn good back and forth match.

Mickie went to check on Martinez.  Mickie and Deonna faced off but there was no contact.

The IInspiration had a new talk shot "All about I"  and had Jai with an I.  The Influence and Kaleb came in immediately accusing them of ripping them off.  They got it with each other in a pretty funny way that played up their characters before The IInspiration stormed out. Tenille then acted as they were closing out their own talk show.  This will be a segment some will hate but I thought it was pretty damn funny, especially Kaleb and Jai playing off each other.

Josh Alexander was checked out by Impact's medical team backstage.  The announcers said there is no way he could be 100% this Saturday.

Ace Austin & Madman Fulton vs. Johnny Swinger & Hernandez

Aries and Fulton attacked them before they bell and worked over their opponents.  Swinger was isolated and worked over as they tagged in and out.  Hernandez finally made the tag in and blocked a suplex from Fulton.  Aries tried to assist but Hernandez suplexed them both over.  Hernandez nailed a big clothesline in the corner on Austin and then Fulton but Austin caught him with kick to the face.  He nailed a stepup splash off Fulton's back and scored the pin.

Your winners, Madman Fulton & Ace Austin!

Swinger abandoned Hernandez as Fulton and Aries grabbed chairs.  They idea was they smashed one chair over Hernandez's arm after wrapping another around it, trying to break his arm.

Gia Miller interviewed W. Morrisey backstage.  He said the second he kicked Moose in the face and ended his alliance, he had an Impact title match.  He doesn't need any friends or fair weather fans and he doesn't need Moose.  He'll be alone this Saturday and he'll be the last person standing as the Impact Champion - and he'll be alone, just as he likes it.

Heath vs. Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champion Karl Anderson.

The winner's team has the advantage in Hardcore War this Saturday.

All the team members for each side are at ringside.  They all ended up getting ejected from ringside pretty early.

They slugged it out, back and forth.  Heath stomped away at Anderson and drilled him with punches in the corner.  Heath nailed a leaping right hand in the corner.

Anderson went to the floor.  Heath followed but was drilled and sent into the barricade and the ring post.

When they returned the ring, Anderson began working over Heath's arm.

Anderson worked over Heath for some time, wearing down the hurt arm.  Anderson mauled him for some time.  Heath finally fired back with his good arm and nailed an inverted atomic drop.  Heath nailed a series of back elbows and a leaping kick for a two count.

Anderson pulled the referee in between them, which allowed him to snap Heath's arm.  He argued with the referee.  Heath rolled him up for a two count.  Anderson sent him into the corner and nailed the Stungun for the pin.

Your winners, Karl Anderson!

Anderson had a bloody nose by the end of the bout.

Gallows hit the ring and worked over Heath.  This sparked a brawl with everyone in the match using weapons as they went off the air.
