Your host is Kayla Braxton. She is joined by Booker T, Kevin Patrick, John Layfield, and Peter Rosenberg.
Kayla mentions the addition of Brock Lesnar to the WWE Championship match because of Roman Reigns' positive COVID test results.
They run through the card for Day 1.
We take a look at the Edge versus Miz match with a video package.
Kayla brings up how Miz was not excited for Edge's return and how this is a grudge match. Patrick talks about Miz making it all about him.
Miz shows up and yells at Kayla for laughing at Edge runing the ceremony. Miz says he wanted to do the vow renewal in front of the people and you are laughing at that. Miz says he gets that Edge is a hero. That is why I went after him. Every time Edge is brought back, people celebrate him. What happened when he came back.
Peter says that is not the same because of the health issues.
Miz says he didn't take a day off when he was injured. Does that mean they are going to celebrate him if he misses a day.
Peter points out that Miz did not win Dancing with the Stars. Miz says he did well and the people cost him the victory.
Miz says he will be awesome tonight. Miz says he has earned respect and he is one of the most decorated superstars in WWE. When I win tonight, I will deserve respect from everyone.
Kevin asks if Miz is too emotional. Miz says his emotions drive him. What Edge did on Monday feuls his fire. He will thrive tonight and he will dominate Edge.
We have a video package for Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan.
Sonya Deville joins the panel.
Kayla asks Sonya if Liv is ready. Sonya says if anyone is ready to move to the next level, it is Liv. She says that Liv is a friend of hers. Liv has the 'it' factor. Liv knows what she is doing in the ring. She is excited to see her win.
Kevin brings up how Becky has backed everything up from her return.
Sonya says that Becky hasn't been in the ring like Liv.
John says that Liv is in the wrong generation because of Becky.
Peter says if you are not ready for the top but cannot take advantage of it, you are going to go back to the bottom.
Booker says Becky has a cloak of invincibility tonight. It will be hard for Liv to beat Becky. Liv has never been in this position before and he does not think it will happen tonight.
Kevin mentions how Becky has brought up Liv's past to get into Liv's head.
Kayla asks Sonya about Naomi. Sonya says she does not understand the controversy. Naomi brought Xia Li to ringside with her. She did not sign up for that. She signed up for Naomi. Sonya says she is an official while in the suit. She is not doing anything new.
They ask Sonya about hitting Naomi while in the suit and Sonya mentions that she can do what she wants, but Naomi cannot touch her.
The New Day are with Megan Morant.
Kofi mentions that Woods has a proclamation.
Xavier says it is his honor to give the following proclamation. He declares today will not be known as New Year's Day but it will be known as New Day Day because they are going to win the tag titles.
Megan says they are very confident. Kofi mentions that they have won thrice in a row and it will not be any different the fourth time. Woods says they will throw the Usos into the Royal Dungeon when they win the titles tonight.
John says if anyone is going to talk about tag team wrestling, it is going to be one half of Harlem Heat.
Peter says it may be the greatest reign of any king and Booker wants to strike Peter.
Booker says he has nothing bad to say about Woods or Kofi.
Kayla asks Booker for a prediction. Booker mentions the Usos are former pupils of his and he cannot pick against them. Day 1 is synonymous with Day One Ish.
Kevin mentions what the Usos did to the crown.
We see Kevin Owens walking in the back as we go to commercial.
It is time to take a look at the match between Drew McIntyre and Riddick Moss.
Peter says that he thinks Moss is funny but there will be no jokes tonight. Drew will take out a lot of angst on Moss. Drew is frustrated he is not in the title picture.
Booker says he does not like the name but it is a chance for Moss to have a big night. He can prove that he belongs.
John says no one thinks Moss has a chance tonight.
We see Bobby Lashley and Montel Vontavious Porter arriving at the building.
It is time to talk about the Raw Tag Title Match.
John says that everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. Kayla mentions how the Street Profits have never had any problems, but are RK-Bro better than ever. Peter brings up Riddle's footwear and Booker says Riddle has been on the money in the ring. The Street Profits have had an attitude adjustment so he thinks the Street Profits will make some noise.
We go to ringside for our Kickoff Show match and your announcers Michael Cole and Pat McAfee.
Match Number One: Cesaro and Ricochet versus Sheamus and Ridge Holland
Cesaro and Sheamus start things off and Sheamus says that Ridge is Cesaro's replacement so he tags in new Cesaro. They lock up and Holland with a wrist lock and Cesaro with a reversal and arm wringer. Holland with a kick and side head lock. Holland goes for a leap frog and Cesaro catches Holland and hits a back breaker. Ricochet tags in and Cesaro flips Ricochet onto Holland and Holland with a knee to Holland for a near fall. Sheamus tags in and he punches Ricochet. Sheamus with a forearm to the back and Ricochet with punches. Ricochet with a kick and Sheamus with a double sledge. Sheamus goes for a belly-to-back suplex but Ricochet with a kick and drop kick followed by a leg drop for a near fall.
Ricochet with a punch. Ricochet tries to get Sheamus on his shoulders but Sheamus with an elbow. Sheamus with a side head lock take down. Sheamus with an Irish Curse. Sheamus with a second Irish Curse. Sheamus kicks Ricochet but Ricochet with punches. Sheamus with another double sledge for a near fall. Sheamus with a camel clutch.
Cole mentions that Holland might have a broken nose and is in the back.
Sheamus with a back breaker to Ricochet. Sheamus has Ricochet on the apron and connects with Ten Beats of the Bowery. Ricochet drops Sheamus on the top rope and Ricochet with a slingshot tornado DDT. Cesaro tags in and connects with punches and European uppercuts. Cesaro with Irish whips and European uppercuts. Cesaro back drops Sheamus to the floor. Cesaro with a running European uppercut against the ringside barrier. Sheamus is returned to the ring and Cesaro goes up top and hits a cross body for a near fall.
Cesaro with a double leg take down and he gives Sheamus the Giant Swing. Cesaro with a Sharpshooter but Sheamus gets to the ropes to force a break. Cesaro sets for the Gotch Neutralizer but Sheamus with a back drop and Cesaro lands on his feet. Sheamus with a jumping knee for a near fall. Sheamus kicks Ricochet and goes for a power bomb but Ricochet sends Sheamus to the floor. Ricochet tries to kick Sheamus but Sheamus catches Ricochet and hits White Noise on the floor. Cesaro gets a near fall. Cesaro with a European uppercut and punches. Sheamus moves and Cesaro hits the ring post. Sheamus with a Brogue Kick for the three count.
Winners: Sheamus and Ridge Holland
We take a look at the Fataler Five Way Match for the WWE Championship.
We see WWE Champion Big E arriving at the building.
Peter says it must be frustrating for Big E since there are now five people in the match. John says as a wrestler he hated multi person matches but now he loves the match.
We have a video package for the WWE Championship Match.
Kayla asks how the addition of Brock to the match affects the four already in the match.
Peter asks Booker how it feels to face an unknown opponent, but then to know it is Brock Lesnar. Booker says it looked like Big E was walking down the Green Mile. Booker says this is a moment. If Big E wins, he will make a huge statement.
Kevin mentions Big E's last year.
John talks about how strong Big E is, but Brock is one of the few more powerful than Big E. You add him to the champions he is facing and it is uphill for Big E.
Kayla mentions how Lashley is a recent addition and Bobby probably had some momentum before today.
Peter says Lashley probably thought he was the powerhouse in the match. This is why we love the business. We don't have Roman Reigns in action tonight, but we get this match. Peter says he is looking forward to Lashley and Lesnar.
Booker says he hopes that Lashley does not have a Tyson in Tokyo moment tonight.
Kevin brings up Brock and how he was preparing for Roman. John says they are crazy to add Brock to the match.
